    Default Archive/Repository

The Archive/Repository is essentially an advanced library that can only be built when your dungeon has at least one functional temple and a library at least 4x4. It is used for research into hyper-advanced, powerful and experimental and dangerous dark magics. These are "Tier 2" Keeper Spells which drain far greater amounts of magic, are more unpredictable and much, much more powerful.

In other words this is a late-game library used for researching a more advanced/powerful set of spells.

The Archive/Repository is also filled with strange artifacts for study, which researchers often do. If you place a special within an archive, and the researchers have nothing else to do, they will attempt to study and duplicate them, making more. This is, however, a slow and timely process.

In much the same way that imps take specials to the Library, if you have a Repository than imps will move all cataloged specials in your Libraries into your Archive. Impa don't take specials directly to your Repository and will always drop them off at the Library first.

    KEEPER ARCHIVE SPELLS:

    Cast Shield ~ (10,000 Mana)
A spell which casts a shield around a trap or door and will be able to absorb a heap of damage directed at the trap until the shield is destroyed and its mana spent or until its 30 seconds are up. This is reasonably cheap and great for defense/holding off attackers.

    Cast Decoys/Phantoms ~ (25,000 - 30,000 Mana)
A spell which will drop a random selection of 'decoy' or 'phantom' creatures on a point in your territory you select. They attack but do no damaged, have very low health and appear transparent to you. To the enemy though they appear quite real, have levels which reflect those of the other creatures in your dungeon and seem to attack.
Enemy creatures will be distracted attack them, but they have low health and are better used strategically to divert enemy forces than to tactically draw fire from your own.

    Ghastly Emissary ~ (45,000 - 65,000 Mana)
A spell which temporarily turns a creature into an equivalent of a battle-hardened elite. Their hitting power, skill and defense are boosted. They gain a light self-heal for the duration of the ability. They essentially become "Hero" units, buffed by the magic running through them.
Beware though, because they become extremely aggressive and will likely stray onto enemy territory. When the spell ends the creatures will be highly drained and usually faint and go into a near death state, which if one enemy territory, will put them in danger.

    Dark Influence ~ (60,000-70,000 Mana)
A spell which, when cast, will slowly work to induce a random selection of 2-4 creatures from every rival Keeper to rebel.

    Invoke Pestilence ~ (90,000 Mana)
This spell stops chickens spawning in all enemy hatcheries and leaves a strange green cloud floating near the ground. These effects can only be reversed by rebuilding the hatchery from scratch. If a new hatchery is created near an infected one it may too become infected. Infected hatcheries cost money to sell. All creatures who eat chickens already in these hatcheries become sick and slowly lose health until healed or dropped to pray in temple. Uninfected creatures become paranoid and tend to become aggressive towards others, especially those infected. Some creatures like Bile Demons and Beetles are immune. Pestilence cannot be passed between creatures.

    Summon Horny ~ (100,000 Mana)
A spell which is the typical Summon Horny, which is basically a the same as an Archive/Repository Keeper Spell.

This also contains some previous ideas like "Summon Decoys." Any comments?

I like the idea of upgrading rooms, but 2 temples? 1 would make much more sense.

This isn't a Library as such, though it works in the same way. It is a late-game library and the spells require immense amounts of Mana. As such to make it feasible you need 2 temples to build it.

Admittedly building 2 temples would be really expensive, and no doubt this is an even more expensive room... which could unintentional make it so that doesn't come into play until to late when one player is on the brink of victory . But at the same time I want it to have a real sense of power and expense and make it hard to get.

I'll change it to 1 Temple and 1 Library i guess.

EDIT I ~ Also, with its cost, Archive has many excess magical functions (like duplicating ordinary specials) and I haven't finished on that score.

This wouldn't appear at all/often in the campaign and is more of a skirmish/multi-player kind of feature. Those maps can be quite big and expansive.

Small maps are for quick games. This isn't the kind of room available in quick games. This is a big map/long game kind of room for true dungeon builders.
