The answer isn't 2, but 288.

Since multiplication and division operations are of the same priority, we must do them from left to right:
1. Parentheses (always first) : 48/2(9+3) = 48/2*12
2. Division : 48/2*12 = 24*12
3. Multiplication : 24*12 = 288

Right, the number before the brackets takes precendence. That makes 48/2*9+2*3. Which is 24*9+6 = 216+6=222.
