Default Dungeon Keeper Level Text Editor

Yes, it returns! The map maker help tool that I released on the original KK forums. Also, I return as well! How exciting!

I've been very busy with school for the past 2 years but now that that's all over, I have time to begin work on this project again! Hooray!

So anyway, since 2009, quite a bit has changed... not that anyone will remember, but that's beside the point. Actually, I don't know what the point is, except for the fact that I am back in the game, so to speak.

For those of you that don't know (most likely everyone), this small tool will create your DK level text files for you at the press of a button. All you've gotta do is click the options you want and boom, 1 free dungeon keeper level text file! Here's a very nice screenshot:

    Basic controls/information:

    0 = player 0
1 = player 1... you get the idea
P = pool (the maximum number of that creature that can enter the map)

Click the check-marks/crosses to change creature availability to each player.
Use the vertical arrow buttons to increase or decrease the number of creatures in the pool. (I even made it awesome so that you can hold it down too!)
Oh, and the tools panel in the bottom left has no functionality yet as I am yet to incorporate rooms, spells, traps and other crazy details that you might want to add to your maps.

And before I forget, here's the link to the program of course: DKLTE.zip (1.3Mb) - Box.net (version 0.59)

Enjoy! And expect lots of future updates. Feedback is most welcome!

Greetings fellow keepers! Thank you for the support. I have updated the program to version 0.25, which includes the ability to select room availability. Excellent! Note: The link in the original post will always contain the latest version.

Here's another lovely screenshot (new version):

I've also had an interesting idea for some humorous Easter eggs, which would suit the comical style Dungeon Keeper kinda had going. For example, setting the library to researchable.

It would also be great if you guys could help me out and make sure the program outputs the right results into the text files, thanks! That is all for now, stay tuned!

Thank you! I was hoping this could help inspire some more DK1 map-making! I've now added spell/magic availability into the program (version 0.26). Traps and doors will take a while as I have to reprogram part of the structure to add in the ability to select the number of starting traps or doors at the beginning of the game.

Also, could I get some help with confirmation of the AI's use of several spells? I have never known the AI to use OBEY, CONCEAL, HOLD AUDIENCE, CAVE IN, HEAL, PROTECT, ARMAGEDDON or DESTROY WALLS. This is so I can add an 'illogical selection' warning when making those spells available to the AI. (Also, I'm 99% sure the AI will never build guard posts...?) Thanks again!

    More updates on the way!

The AI will not use any of those spells except for Heal and I think Protect. They also do not build Guard Posts. It does make sense to make some of those spells researchable for AI, however. It could serve as a reward to a Player for beating them or something.

That thing you created looks very awesome!

Can I make 1 small suggestion? In the creatures list...would it be cool to add Hero creatures too? I like getting Heroes in my dungeon (as I would normal creatures) to work for me. This thing does look pretty neat otherwise. I'll try this out sometime. Thanks for putting in the effort of making it.
