That's if people even like EA these days. It's pretty much considered "adandoneware". A lot of the old 1980's-1996 games are abandoned, and most are free. I wouldn't pay for a game that a company no longer supports and/or pays attention to, so I wouldn't waste my money on it if they're not going to give any support, but that's just me, and not everyone holds that same thought process.
GOG supports it, and abandonware is just a term invented by people to feel good about pirating old games. Abandonware doesn't exist. That's if people even like EA these days. Well, I guess you should go check out the old 1990's games then.
A wiki page that makes your post untrue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware
Abandonware is NOT pirating the game. "Abandonware" is where the company cuts off it's support, and/or the copyright is gone. The companies just refuse to do anything about "abandonware" because it costs too much to do anything about. Hence why a lot of 1996 and earlier games are considered "abandonware" because the company no longer creates the media for it, and refuses to support it. 2 such games are like this: Baldur's Gate 1 and pretty much One Must Fall: 2097.
Baldur's Gate 1 is no longer being supported by their company, and the media disks are no longer being created, so you cannot buy the game from their usual site. Hence why I said I wouldn't pay for it.
