Seems like Kalypso plans some sort of Dungeon Keeper "like" game.

Didn't find english news, so here's the original:

Mhmm...Looks pretty, I'll admit that.

Probably won't be as good as the original games, nothing can ever beat the original DK. Unless, which is unlikely, that these guys make a truly spectacular copy.

Just have to wait and see, I guess. :p

It does look quite interesting, though I can only hope it will have the humour of DK.

While it does look sexy, I see a slither of reminence to what dungeon keeper looks like. Still might be interest.

Kalypso is putting a bit of a spin on it, as you have to look after the adventurers once they’re trapped.

Don’t worry, it’s all for nefarious purposes in the end, however, as the happier a hero, the more soul energy you can extract from him or her when it comes to the “harvest” (dark chuckle emanates from the shadows).

lol wut?

The more I look at that one screenshot, the more I realise just HOW MUCH WORK has been put into it, and the more I respect it and WANT TO PLAY IT!!!!!!!

Too bad I can't understand a word of it, except for 'Dungeon Heart'.

Even with the language barrier, this thing gets released, and I'll damn well try it out.

While Kalypso has it's headquarters in Germany, they do have branches in 2 English speaking countries. So I'm pretty certain there will be an English speaking version of the game. :)

Searingflame2

Winsauce!
Is there anything on when it is due to be released?

Asking that question goes against everything I stand for... kind of. Because too many good games are killed by being released 'on time' instead of 'on completion'.

According to the Google translate text: "Dungeons can already be played at the upcoming Gamescom in hall 6, booth B51. First screenshots from the beta is available in our gallery." So could be anything from a few months to a few years :/

Also it comes First quarter 2011 as stated by a moderator of the kalypso media forums.

You just have to look at the new Teaser Trailer to see, reminds me of the intro trailer from the first game. Has anyone seen or heard about this game yet?

http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/dungeons/movie/37055.html (http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/dungeons/movie/37055.html)

More information can be found here for those that haven't heard of it before:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/dungeons/ (http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/dungeons/)

It looks interesting, from as much as one can tell from cinematics, but what would really make it a whole lot better is if it were completely narrated by Richard Ridings :P

It'll be out in the US, UK and the rest of Europe. Probably over the Internet to via Digital Distrobution. So there's no need to ilegal download it, unless you want every game to have the same fate as Dungeon Keeper.

dungeon keeper's fate didin't come because of piracy or profit loss, I will probally have a look at it too when it comes out, although some of the mechanics sound very wierd.

Well actually DK2 didn't do too well sales wise, which is partly why EA believed a third one was too big a risk :/

They also wanted to concentrate on new consoles at the time.

JamieSI

Sales were partly down to EA, due to them not having a big marketing push. The game is amazing, as you all know, and review scores were pretty high. Much like Activision have done a bad job of marketing Blur and games that aren't COD, EA did a bad job with DKII.

From what it seems, you won't be making the heroes happy lol. Basically, it seems like you will have to make a magnificent dungeon which will attract heroes from all over the world. It's quite obvious that the strongest adventurers won't bother with invading some crappy old tomb where the only thing that could be considered treasure are the dead bodies of some rats which have died from the stench of rotting bodies. However, if your dungeon is rich, with a library full of forsaken magic and treasury full of gold and ancient artifacts, chances are, some of the world's best heroes will try to invade.

It also seems to have similar sort of humour as DKII... which is good

If you ask me, some people at Kalypso were fans of the two first games and wanted to make a sequel, but couldn't/didn't want to acquire rights so they made their own game :D

this (http://twitter.com/kalypsomediausa/status/20990059558) pretty much confirms it :P

Looking at some of the in game creatures gives me a somewhat strange feeling of slight optimism, but mainly strong disappointment that it won't be exactly like DK :/

Hay guys, I stop by this forum now and then these days to check up on news and to feel nostalgic.

Ahhh, nostalgia.

Anywho, even though I was already looking forward to Dungeons I'm all the more shaking with anticipation now that I've read more about the gameplay.

At first I was looking forward to a DK clone, but now I'm quite interested in the changes they're making. Having to lure heroes into your dungeon suggests far more action will take place within the core of your dungeon itself. I like that; as disgusting as heroes are, my fondest moments of dungeon keeping have always been pulling out all the stops to give the heroes a really bad day in the belly of my dungeon.

The introduction of 'objects' usable for furnishing your dungeon sounds interesting too, I always liked that my dungeons felt like my creation, but I'm fearful these objects will be a tad pointless, I'd rather have interesting traps that can be employed in original formations, but I guess we'll see how that pans out.

I wonder if they'll include the hand of evil and the ability to directly drop all your creatures in one spot. As marvellous as that was for allocating jobs, it tended to make combat a bit flat.

I hope they manage to fill the dungeon with as much character as possible. The short movies, dark humour, whimsical creatures and many chickens really made the dungeon feel like it had a personality and I'd be rather grumpy to have that missing from a spiritual successor.

edit:

Whilst you have previously stated that multiplayer won’t be in the release version, do you have any plans/hopes to introduce it later?

Yes, the code is completely client and server based, so multiplayer is an option. It rather depends on our publisher, Kalypso. If they say “make it multiplayer” then we make it multiplayer! After all it depends on how well Dungeons is received.
