Ok, This is your chance to have your idea come to life in Fully rendered 3D.

What would the coolest thing be that you would want to see?

I'll be making the Cinematic, as close as I can get to blizzard's style of Cinematics, but I need the minds of many to get the best idea possible!

You guys may work together, you can work on this by yourself at home in your free time and post it when it's done, merge two ideas, whatever!
So post your ideas / rough script and yours could be chosen!

Don't worry about Technicalities, my and DonJoe can do pretty much anything we want in 3D.

Think BIG, and make it Epic! :flight:

here is the old Script we have, which will be used if we don't get a better idea. You may give additional ides for this script too !!!
=========================================
:flight: Part 1 - A Trip through a Dungeon
=========================================
Synopsis:
Credits, Camera moving into the Dungeon, and fly's throughout the dungeon. you can see all the creatures training, working, eating, at the temple, manufacturing,etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Script:
Scene not set in stone yet.

Ideas to consider:

Camera pans around showing imps reinforcing walls, and scuttling around.
one runs passed, camera follows as it runs into a workshop.

Troll hammering on the anvil causing sparks with red hot metal and heat shimmer effect.

imp waiting for it to be ready to take it away as camera leaves workshop and picks up on bile demon grunting past and into the hatchery.
Bile demon farts as it grabs a chicken.

Shot moves to a huge steel door, silence. drips of water and a slight dungeon wind noise. (This dripping/etc should happen in a lonely corridor)

A whip and a scream sound as camera is close up on a male slave chained to a rack.
Shot of Mistress pulling back and bringing the whip down on the slave,
Mistress brings up the whip again, but a loud bang sounds and she stops and looks toward the big door in the distance.

=========================================
:flight: Part 2 - Heros Invade
=========================================
Synopsis:
Hero's breaking into the dungeon, through a metal door.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Script:
Scene not set in stone yet.

Ideas to consider:

The camera pans through the far coridors of the dungeon, and an imp is seen sleeping at a metal door.
you hear sounds in the background of the hero's, the imp still sleeps - the music goes quiet.... very quiet
BANG! the hero's are at the door (Quite a sudden, unexpected, scary Bang!) the imp looks around scared. *Scary type Sound is played*
SLAM! (the metal door starts to dent out with each slam) the imp's mouth opens and he starts running - and I mean running!
*The camera does that weird zooming in on his face, but the background zooms out Effect, with the camera moving fast with him, from a front view.

The hero's break through, and in swarms a gang of hero's !
*Que Metal-type music*

=========================================
:flight: Part 3 - Action Sequences
=========================================
Synopsis:
The Hero's spread throughout the dungeon rooms, and the camera jumps around between all the fights!
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Script:
Scene not set in stone yet.

Ideas to consider:

Unknown Characters:
Some Hero(?) gets freezed by a Creature(?) - he slows down to a complete frozen state in only 3 seconds, and then gets sliced - you see thousands of ice shards exploding and falling

Warlock vs Wizzard:
It should be epic - fight must be like the one in the Lord of the rings with them doing cool spells against each other (Fireballs, Freeze, Meteor, Shockwave blasts, lightning).
Ok, in the warlock fight, just before he is about to cast a huge spell, the music slows down as well as the camera - you see the warlock bring his arms back and as the start to move forward like he is going to "throw" something, magic particles start to form in the air around him and form into some fireball.
just as he is about to release the timescale goes bac to normal and he launches it with full force.
the music goes slower, and going softer - we can maybe even add a cool reverberating, full of bass sound, like a heartbeat while it's in slow-motion or something, before the real speed & metal music returns.

Bile Demon Vs A thief and a Barbarian:
Thief runs at him, gets smacked by mace instantly, followed by a fight, which could go either way, probably barbarian winning

Tentacle Vs Dwarf:
Tentacle freezes him, beats him down, and when he comes back, turns on "Armour" and beheads the tentacle

Knight vs 2 Trolls:
Got to be like the original (a nod to it at least) where he defeats the first one, the second sneaks up and is stabbed in that awesome way

Giant, Imps & Dragons:
Giant chasing imps, smashing them up (i guess inspired by the dk2 cut-scene) he chases them to the dragon's lair, where he fights a couple of dragons, who he injures, but in the end they kill him with fire.

Dark Mistress vs Samurai:
A very quick paced battle, and if you're good enough, done with matrix "slow-down", to highlight the speed of the battle) In the end, they both lightning and obviously there's a huge explosion!

Archer vs 3 Demon spawn:
The archer spots them, fires off an arrow which kills the first, they rush him, and he nimbly dispatches another, when the final one leaps at him, knocking him down. (Archer is assumed dead).

Monk Vs Vampire:
The vampire attacks, and the monk just heals and protects itself, withstanding the full fury or the vampire, until after maybe 7 seconds of flashing lights, the monk's eyes glow gold, and he kills the vampire (not strictly in the game, but hey). cut to the vampire's coffin opening, and red eyes glowing out (with smoke and stuff).

Tunnelers & Beetle:
Boulder trap chasing a couple of little tunnelers, they bump into a huge beetle, and back off to a door on the side, the beetle advances gleefully (hard to make a beetle looks happy, but it can be tried). and gets swiftly crushed by the boulder (the tunnelers escape). boulder hits the cam. (transition to next fight)
when the beetle is squished you can see loads of green ooze spilling out. perhaps he could even get stuck on the boulder spikes and roll with the boulder

Fairy & Skeleton:
A lone fairy finds herself in a creepy prison/torture chamber, she hears wailing, turns quickly but sees nothing (the camera is where she is now looking, (looking back at her face, with blurred background, her face is that of fear)and from our point of view, behind her we see the out of focus outline of a skeleton advancing) she turns back round, to go the way she came when it screams and runs at her. (not sure who wins).

Spider vs Fly vs Witch:
A spider and a fly are fighting in the lair, when in wanders a witch, they continue fighting, unaware of her presence, as she watches, clearly amused. The spider emerges victorious, notices the witch and is instantly fried by lightning/fire.

=========================================
:flight: Part 4 - Final Battle
=========================================
Synopsis:
Final Showdown Between horny and the Lord of the land.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Script:
Scene not set in stone yet.

Ideas to consider:

The knight tries to find the dungeon heart, breaks down a door and see's horny standing there waiting for him...
After an intense fighting sequence between the reaper and the knight, horny knocks him onto his back, and horny moves in for the kill....
Logo comes up in a very cool way.

=========================================
:flight: Notes:
=========================================
- Dungeon only needs to contain stuff where the camera is going to be, nothing more.
- Don't let the camera run into dead ends - it needs to keep the flow when flying through the dungeon.
- We need bridges over lava, water for tentacles, etc...
- We need to make it look like an actual dungeon, not too much like the in-game dungeon which is gameplay functional (ie: we can have stairs, larger rooms, pillars, etc - the room props are also not "Tile based" like the game engine.)

=========================================
:flight: Problems to Fix:
=========================================
- The sleeping imp looks too familiar to DK2 intro.

=========================================
:flight: Locations:
=========================================

- All the creatures fight in their favourite rooms. (if possible)

Warlock Vs Wizard - Fight in the library - books and pages fly around, get burnt etc.
Bile Demon Vs A thief and a Barbarian - Find him in the hatchery, chickens get stomped.
Tentacle Vs Dwarf - In a corridor possibly bordering water, tentacle sneaks up via the water.
Knight vs 2 trolls - I'm pretty sure this is in the treasure room
Giant chasing imps, Through a corridor, ending up turning into a dark lair.
Dark mistress vs Samurai, Either the torture chamber, or the training room, probably the latter.
Archer vs 3 demon spawn - In a T section of a corridor, the archer turns it, and sees the demons.
Monk Vs Vampire, Graveyard
Boulder trap chasing a couple of little tunnelers, down a long corridor, the beetle could turn out of any room really (see it vaguely in the background)
A lone fairy finds herself in a creepy prison/torture chamber,
A spider and a fly are fighting in the lair

=========================================
:flight: Atmosphere:
=========================================

- Add Dark flickering shadows and Gothic lighting in the dungeon
- Graveyard must be quite Foggy

=========================================
:flight: Random Ideas:
=========================================

- Keeper Spells can be seen throughout the action sequence
- Traps could be seen, being set off by hero's (in addition to the boulder trap)
- Adding a bullfrog somewhere in the start of the intro, as homage to Bullfrog

I'll just try start this off with the suggestion that like in other DK games it starts from the point of view of the heroes.

We could also do it in a way that kind of spoofs the common RPG beginning, but I definitely think it should have some humour to it.

*Cheesy meadow in a sunny landscape. Heroes frolic (???) across the grasslands. The Lord of the Land is standing on a hill, looking down on his subjects*

*A portion of the hill begins to look odd. Tunneling noises are heard.*

*a TUNNEL appears from the side of the hill! A horde of MONSTERS pours out! Skeletons lead the way, followed by goblins, trolls, and other minor monsters. Horny himself follows the skeletons*

*SWITCH TO DUNGEON*

*A somewhat sinister dungeon is shown. Monsters lurk. Bright blue tiles mark the ground. A dungeon heart beats steadily. Most creatures are sleeping.*

*The WALL falls in. MONSTERS charge in! Horny, Vampires, and Skeletons lead the charge this time!*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO MEADOW*

*Heroes are massacred. Fire begins to burn the meadow.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO DUNGEON*

*Horny dispatches several enemy creatures. Imps follow close behind.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO MEADOW*

*Horny spots the Lord of the Land. Charging ahead of his army, he goes for the Lord.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO DUNGEON*

*Horny sees the Dungeon Heart and races to destroy it in one blow.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO MEADOW*

*The Lord of the Land duels with Horny, neither side managing to gain the advantage yet*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO DUNGEON*

*Horny is almost at the Dungeon Heart when he is greeted by another Horny! His eyes narrow and the two fight for quite some time, though both have the same strength.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO MEADOW*

*Horny blocks a sword thrust from the Lord of the Land. Suddenly, he charges the Lord, pushes him backwards, and fries him with a fireball.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO DUNGEON*

*Horny pushes the other Horny backwards, who falls down. Horny uses his scythe and destroys the Dungeon Heart in one hit, the structure collapsing in grand fashion.*

*ALTERNATE BACK TO MEADOW*

*Horny blasts another fireball at a large structure in the middle of the valley.*

*PULL BACK*

*BLINDING EXPLOSION*

*Meadow and Dungeon, both clearly ransacked and destroyed, shown side by side*

*WAR FOR THE OVERWORLD*

looks too much like the DK2 movie.

Considering the setting and DK II's plotline, I suggest we have something similar to horny and some minions emerging from a grand portal that ends up in a large room of sorts with various treasure, weapons, ect. Imps would scurry about looking at all the fascinating treasure, trolls would marvel at some weapon racks, ect; while horny walks on through and out of the room followed by some skeletons and goblins. He is met by a small army of goodies and a small-scale battle erupts. It ends with bodies scattered around, and horny facing off against a lord. Horny gets a few close calls, but eventually defeats the lord and the camera starts to assume a bird's eye view while the land around horny starts to become corrupted. Tunnels begin to burst from parts of the corrupted land and then it hits a black screen. All you hear is horny's laugh.

For a intro, I think we should show off a few of the new creatures/hostiles/heroes. Like Heroes going" Tra-lala-lala and the next moment, a Giant Worm/Wyrm eats one of them suddenly by digging through a wall, NOM, and goes through the other wall, and they run crapping their pants as the Wyrm pursuits them. xD

Hey, welcome back man! :D

Question:
How long do you want the intro to be?

I already got an idea in mind that shows off...

-Battlefield (Creatures and Heroes in a massive underground cavern fighting each other)
-Keeper Dungeons and Hero Fortresses
-New Suggestions
-Overworld Glimpse
-Abyss Glimpse (if it's used)

i have an idea that shows off that its about tactics

the heros are chasing a imp down a corridoor just about to reach the dungeon heart (heroes get cocky when they see the undefended heart), then imps could either dig through the two walls either side of the heroes or secret doors if they are used could open up and creatures could pour out and have a battle or something like that....

Nah just show Horny and the minions coming out of nowhere destroying an army of useless people. I like the idea you had before but, several Hornies doesn't sound so good.

Multiple Horned Reapers? Heck yes! :D

i didn't mean like multiple hornies silly :P i just meant like goblins or whatever

September 4th, 2010, 23:56
We are using multiple horned reapers in the game.

EDIT: also, we should have some sort of awakening scene for the keeper in the game. Like overlord, in overlord your minions open your grave and contemplate rubbing acid in your eyes to wake you up. After that, switch to the heroes all having there final drinks in a tavern before they brave the dungeon. Ill just leave that idea here, what happens after that is still a blank spot for me.

How about this:

From a Imp perspective you see him running down a tunnels and as he makes a turn he runs directly into A massive Giant(or other huge ass Hero), the Imp offcourse is shocked. But whitin seconds, the Huge Hero drops to the ground. Emerging behind him is a Horned reaper pulling his weapon out of his back. With a few other dark creatures(around 20/30 i would say) standing behind him as they look around them victoriously hence a massive slaughter took place(from this point the camera looses the imp perspective) and they were the once to survive.

Next scene(offcourse the action scene which will conclude the intro).
You see the Horned reaper bashing in a Door and the other (previously mentioned) creatures run past the horned reaper brutally slaughtering what is remaining of the heroes. Whilst this battle takes place you see the horned reaper walking towards the Land Lord slowly, repelling any Hero/Creature in its way. The Land Lord pulls out his sword and points it towards the Horny, the Horny laughs while fighting the land lord a little(rather toying with him). The land lord backs up and is ready to make another strike but the Horny Violently chops off the Land Lords Head... *The horny voilently laughs like the always does* and the camera slowly leaves the area showing a few images of the slaughter......... at the same time emerging the WFTO logo.

Music and how the battles, your choise how they go i'd guess :p

I must say i like that idea it's got the same feel as the first DK intro but also some of the concepts of the second with the giant and imp

A pitch? Alright.

The heroes have just valiantly slain many 'weak' creatures when suddenly, when it looked like they'd won the fight a Warlocks meteor flies towards and sends one of the heroes flying, a Horned Reaper rushes in and takes out two with his scythe in a very bloody manner, a scared hero backs away only to fall victim to the blow of a Bile Demons mace, the Bile Demon gives the fresh-corpse the two-finger salute, more Heroes are seen coming and everything slows down, a heart-beat, fade-black, another heart-beat, fade-in and we see a dungeon heart, another heart beat then dungeon heart radiates with power, it jumps back to the rushing heroes when directly above them we see lightening strike down towards those heroes and the moment it hits or just before the screen goes black instantly and with an electrifying-effect it spells out "Its Good to be Bad, isn't it?"

The direction with the intro, where DKI got it right, was that it depicts the creatures as mindless by just killing a hero without hesitation and the heroes were actually seen as the RPG heroes you'd play as in things like Dragon-Age or Baulders Gate and so on, DKII got this completely wrong when it gave creatures a sort of a heroic perspective and the heroes a "What a dick" perspective.
The focus is to make the heroes seem like they are in fact heroes and as such, it should be noted heroes are seen as 'better' and never should the creatures be depicted as "Friendly" like the DKII Horned Reaper (which shares a classic case of Animé hardass by having a mind and a personality of its own, mindless creatures is what it should be)

When I read Pizu's idea, a Horned Reaper drawing its scythe out of the back of a Giant in front of an Imp makes the Horned Reaper look like a kind of saviour when in-fact, a Horned Reaper would probably rip off that Imps' head and beat it against the hero just for it standing around (there's a notable reason why Imps always run away) all the whilst that horned reaper would be standing on the Giants' head trying to crush it and would probably succeed. (In the second paragraph, the Horny in Pizu's has too much focus and spotlight which again just makes it that classic animé hardass all over again. DKII did it because the game was all about the Horned Reaper succeeding in his quest to get the gems, which makes no sense because you command them, not the other way around)
Refrain from these creatures having some 'heroic' or 'goodly' spotlight in direction, it'll ruin their image.

natchoguy
September 10th, 2010, 03:24
We may change the fighting but the heart beat idea is simply awesome. There should be some survived weak dungeon creatures to make a more gloom-ish effect

Madkill
September 10th, 2010, 03:41
As long as the beating leads upto the lightening strike to end the cutscene then it'll be awesome, to be honest, the location of where it takes place would be difficult to decide which is why the fighting isn't detailed more. I just hope there won't be a spotlight all on one creature like with DKII's dull intro, perhaps the Horned Reaper in this one should be 'blurred' or 'shadowed' in some way at the points where it appears.

Could change the fight scene to an Avatar fending off against some creatures and then taking out the Horned Reaper with a powerful magic ability, as we see from over the Avatars head, creatures rush towards the avatar with warlocks using their magical abilities and striking the avatar, the avatar being knocked back a step or two and injured by the attacks, as the creatures get close to the avatar the avatar prepares itself fearlessly and clearly able to take them all on and then-everything slows down, a heart-beat, fade-black, another heart-beat, fade-in and we see a dungeon heart, another heart beat then the dungeon heart radiates with power, it jumps back to an above-shot of the creatures and the avatar as the camera spins as it falls when it switches to a distance away, directly above the avatar we see lightening strike down towards the avatar and the moment it hits or just before it hits the screen goes black instantly and with an electrifying-effect it spells out "Its Good to be Bad, isn't it?"

We need to start with the KK logo, fullscreen and centered, with a black background maybe a faint red glow.

Also, any affiliate or personal logos need to follow.

This is an idea I had ages ago (back when Patrician ran the board) so it might need an adjustment or two:

We see a medieval town, basically one street (maybe) with buildings on each side, tens of people are going about their business, this could be done in one analytical wide shot or multiple shots depending on the mood needed, the weather is sunny, the buildings stone and green grass tufts here and there. In the background we can see a mine, could be for any resource.
We see a knight sharpening his sword, armoured with helmet off placed to one side, this way we can see he is a knight, still the room/area is bright and he seems happy.
The mine is shown from the front, workers coming and going, maybe singing, a light wind blows.
We hear digging sounds, a scene inside the mine shows workers digging into a rock face. Suddenly the workers stop, they look at each other confused, the digging sounds continue.
A close up shows one worker peering through a small hole in the wall, we see this from inside the hole, just his curious and confused face peering into it.
In the mine interior again, the digging sounds continue, the workers back off, one of them (a young lad) runs outside.
From first person of one of the workers, we see a section of the rock face demolished by an axe from the other side, blackness is revealed and an Imp, when the hole is opened the Imp stands for a second, confused with eyes widening, then a giant fly shoots out from above him and stings the worker in a close-up.
The workers panic and run in a series of close-up shots while loads of giant flies, giant beetles and a few spiders come flying, crawling and walking out of the wall. Many workers are killed in a bloody mess while more creatures come to the surface, ghosts come out and circle the room. A couple of workers attempt to defend themselves with their tools only to be quickly overcome by the creatures.
We see the young worker run into the village. He asks (without sound) various people where the knight can be found. We see the knight, he looks up as the lad meets him and the lad (still without sound) explains what happened, pointing frantically towards the mine. Suddenly the knight looks up more and the young'n turns around, an orc stands behing him, grunting, looking disgusted at these strange creatures.
The orc swings his hammer and beheads the young'n, the knight jumps up and slashes the orc with his sword then looks across the village.
An army of creatures is in town, biting, stabbing, clawing and setting fire to people, we are shown warlocks, hounds, beetles, flies, spiders, orcs, mistresses, skeletons and dragons at work, certain heroes (giants, samourai, dwarf, etc) putting up a fight and taking longer to kill, occassionally felling one or two creatures before being slaughtered, often from behind. This sequence is lengthy it contains a number of medium-length shots, close-ups and motion shots (moving across to follow blows). Stores and stalls are ruined, buildings are raided and horses are slaughtered while fleeing. We see various elements, magic and melee fighting with much bloodshed. As this happens it starts raining and there are small adjustments like signs and trees changing into an evil looking style. *
The knight puts his helmet on and jumps on his horse as fast as he can, riding upstreet and slaughtering creatures much easier than other people, his sword effective and armour tough.
A warlock is in mid-spell when he turns around and looks up, stopping his spell in progress. Orcs are shown turning and looking too. The bloodshed stops while creatures look at a shadow on a tall building (maybe a church) at the edge of the village.
The knight halves a spider with his sword and stops, looking around, he looks up with a close up on his face (helmet on).
Starting from a wide-length shot, zooming in eventually stopping at his face we see the Horned Reaper on a building, scythe in hand, looking down at the destruction. As we reach his face he roars and leaps forward into the image, apparently swinging his scythe (think the DK3 trailer on DK2).
A direct cut to the title 'War from the Overworld' fullscreen and centered with a black background.**

* here we could cut into the dungeon, showing the rooms and portal, perhaps with a heartbeat sound effect repeating, show the dungeon heart at the end.

** Alternatively, we could have a one-shot tour of a dungeon or just a corridor, going towards the dungeon heart then the title is shown.

Total intro lenth, no less than 90 seconds, no longer than 5 minutes, use a well-known compression/video type if possible.

I would go with something like this :

something really childish and silly...like a rabbit/bunny running around on a grassy land, with butterflies dancing around the small rodent as he walks past a bunch of goodly heroes (all of them smiling and seem to be quite happy) and then--

a big hoof steps on the stupid animal, the camera rolls up only to show Horny looking down at the dead rabbit with disgust :D. he then sends forth his creatures who are hiding behind his massive body to slaughter some silly goodly heroes, a few scenes of combat (which mostly shows heroes being killed in horrible ways) will be shown and then the camera will be cut into the aftermath of fight where the innocent-looking imps search for any survivors... those who survive will be thrown into prison and then torture chambers...and the dead ones will be brought to Graveyards where they will be fed to the undead :D all of these can be squeezed into a good cinematic which is no longer than...hmmm 1 and half minute long :D

This sounds quite funny. What if we put after the Horny-orders-creatures-to-attack part to make a WoW-like intro?

Bunch of cool looking clips showing various stuff of Dungeon Keeper what the game is about. It does not nessesarily need to be connected by the campaign or something anyhow.

:flight: Part 4 - Final Battle
=========================================

=========================================
:flight: Notes:
=========================================

=========================================
:flight: Problems to Fix:
=========================================
- The sleeping imp looks too familiar to DK2 intro.

=========================================
:flight: Locations:
=========================================

=========================================
:flight: Atmosphere:
=========================================

- Add Dark flickering shadows and Gothic lighting in the dungeon
- Graveyard must be quite Foggy

=========================================
:flight: Random Ideas:
=========================================

- Keeper Spells can be seen throughout the action sequence
- Traps could be seen, being set off by hero's (in addition to the boulder trap)
- Adding a bullfrog somewhere in the start of the intro, as homage to Bullfrog

Ok, so there we have it - the Old Script filled with ideas from a lot of people, edited to a small core of ideas.

Now - you guys can still pitch ideas for your own intro - but I thought i'd put this up - if some of you have additional great ideas (I hope so)
Basically just state which part you are talking about (1,2,3 or 4) and then the idea.

What would be an awesome fight between a Hero(s) and Minion(s) ? Please state location of fight too, and describe what is happening, and what type of FX are used.

Blutonium :

Do you want the Cinematic to have narrator? or any sort of voice acting? :)

Blutonium
September 19th, 2010, 13:04
hmmm.... never thought of that..

if there is, it would be ANR as mentor.... but we'll see when we start actually animating the scene1 flythrough (I guess you thought of having it there, right?)

Suppose while doing all that we could show off some of the new creatures and hostiles? :p

If so, I'll brainstorm while at Chruch. If not, I'll still brainstorm.

It would be better to feature not only DK 1-eque creatures in the intro... mix it up a bit. There isn't a single DK 2-unique creature there save Horny. Have a goblin cowardly backing up out of a fight or something...

Scene : inside the dark dungeon tunnel a young knight is carrying a wounded lady-of-the-land (or just a Fairy, or maybe a princess?) in his arms (the classic childish scene where the protagonist is carrying the princess in his arms), they both smile at eachother as they make their way further and further.

Narrator : (with a slow-relaxed voice simmiliar to the DK2 narrator) Fairytales...

Scene : The Knight soon reaches a room where a giant, a monk and a thief are awaiting for him at the entrance. all seem to celebrate the rescue of their friend by the Knight.

Narrator : They are endlessly filled with joyfull moments...

Scene : A Dwarf tunnels to the room from the opposite side of where the heroes are, day light seems to shine from behind the Dwarf.

Narrator : ...and signs of hope and goodly deeds.

Scene : Heroes cheer and approach the Dwarf slowly, as the Dwarf smiles and them, thinking that their dangerous journey is over.

Narrator : ...so nice...

Scene : as the heroes reach the middle of the room The Dwarf notices something behind the heroes back, as his smile fades away and is replaced with horror.

Narrator : ...yet so boring. (says this part with an evil chuckle)

Scene : The heroes turn back quickly and look at Horny who is standing infront of the entrance where they just came from, sharpening the blade of his scythe with a smirk. a warlock, a mistress and several Goblins reveal themselves as they walk stand next to the evil big-guy.

Narrator : ...well, leave the weaklings to their fairytales.

Scene : The Heroes step back slowly as Horny and the evil creatures approach them, The Giant grims and charges towards Horny with a roar. Mistress laughs sadistacily as Horny charges towards the Giants. as the two big guys are locked in battle Goblins charges towards the Knight and his companions. Knight puts the girl down and unsheathes his sword but doesn't notice the Thief running towards the tunnel where the Dwarf came from. Dwarf's mind is stuck between loyalty to friends and save his own ass, he makes up his mind by running to the Knight. The duo manage to put down a few Goblins easily but finally a Goblin jumps on the Knight's back and stabs him with his sword, several other Goblins jump on the injured hero and bring him down by stabbing him repeatedly, The Dwarf gets chopped in half by a cunning Goblin, Horny roars and kicks the Giant into the wall, The Giant is exhausted as he barely manages to recover from the kick and stand up on his feet...Horny slowly walks towards the dizzy Giant and looks at him eye-in-eye... after several seconds of silence Horny raises his hand and pokes the Giant in the shoulder...the Giant collapses ... Horny chuckles and walks towards the surface entrance as the Goblins behind him are fighting over the Knight's belongings. Horny eyes the Thief who is running away on a grassy land and trying to get away with his life, a dark hooded figure appears from behind Horny and gets ready to shoot the Thief with a powerful crossbow (dark elf) a moment of silence as she puts the bolt on the crossbow and prepares to snipe the Thief down. a short whistling sound and ...Thief collapses on the ground with a sharp bolt in his mouth. (he was shot in the back, so the bolt's head has to come out from his mouth).

As Horny and the Dark Elf look at eachother with satisfaction a crying voice is heard from the room, they look back and see the injured lady of the land surprise kneeling on the ground and crying. shortly all the evil creatures in the cinematic circle around her and look at the injured human. the lady of the land forces herself and looks up at the creatures. who are in return looking at the hero with a friendly smile...a moment of pause. and the friendly atmosphere fades away when Mistress --still maintaining her friendly smile-- cracks her knuckles and the creatures' friendly smile turns into a sadistic one. (horny should be so cool in this scene)

PS : the scene should end with narrator saying the word : yes...it's -so- good to be evil. end narrations are not done, fight scene seems sloppy. feel free to fix em up.

Loving it. I'll let you guys discuss it and refine it, but I'll start making assets. I'm skipping out on part of the first scene cause I dont have a clear idea yet how a lair entrance looks from the outside (I didn't like the DK1 door in the side of a mountain all that much, besides, some of Syn's entrance sketches look awesome). I'll keep you posted.

DK Tentacle
September 26th, 2010, 18:40
There should be a spider freezing prisoner sequence in there.
also, when the tentacle is in water, it should be submerged i.e. invisible, and attack out of the water, making them even more deadly. they can sneak up on things unaware and freeze them.

I'm currently working on a rough screenplay for scene 1. I've been thinking (and experimenting a little), how about before this shot, a section where the camera races through the air over a grassy field, then a swamp, then a bleak looking section of mountain until it reaches the door of your dungeon? The reason I was thinking this is because it feels sorta random to just drop the viewer into the dungeon; and although 99,9% of the target audience will be familair with the DK series (okey, maybe a little less then 99,9%), it seems nice to give them a little more of an idea of what's outside.

critisism appreciated.

just don't build any of that stuff yet, just concentrate on the dungeon interior for now.

but yes, we've planned something like that for quite a while, however, I think we can come up with something even more dramatic

I think in the outside shot it should be dark, with a lightning storm and rain, almost like the DK1 intro.

I think we should show horny fighting a horned reaper. The reaper should look DK 1 style though to avoid confusion plus contrast with Hornys leadership role while dk1 reaper gives a bit of lunatic loner vibe.

What's the big idea with two types of reapers, i don't get it?

this would be like a movie of batman fighting a 1970's batman that looks different - I just don't get it......

please, anyone at all, please explain to me why 2 types of reapers is a good idea, please - humor me.

/not pointed at ragegun, hehe - i've just heard a lot of talk about this 2 reaper business

Maybe DK 1 reapers were female, lol... you didn't see THAT coming... or maybe Horny is =O

disturbing...

or maybe different subspecies... or maybe horny just likes lifting weights and is a little vain. who knows.

well horned reapers and Horny are very different Horny is a leader that is intelligent while a horned reaper is a loner who if he is intelligent is very clearly too pshycotic for one to see the intelligence( unless you count his ability to read) i like the idea of their being different types of horned reaper or maybe horny is a result of a sacrafice gone wrong like orc subistuted for the troll on accident or something

We might as well make two different kinds of Dark Mistresses too, and 3 types of Beetle.

We should do 2 of every creature that was dramatically changed in DK2, and 3 of every creature that was dramatically changed and we create our own WftO design if we feel like it. :P

We may not have 3 Beetles, but we do have 3 bugs. :B

Sry, I didn't read any of the posts for this thread but what I think would be the best way to finish the cinematic is to do the same as DK1. Reaper decapitates someones head! :) But this time maybe inview? inview with the reaper or hero... hero might even cooler! :O *turns around* CHOP!

The idea of one horny fighting another works better if one had a blue diamond on his chest-plate and the other had a red one. Works better than modelling another horny.
Has anyone written a plot of the storyline at all?

By the way, when you sacrifice to get something from the temple, isn't it actually just trading X-amount of creatures for the creature you want from the underworld? And DKI explains that the Horned Reapers are from some realm, that they're demigods or something. Aren't they? Remember the lore from Dungeon Keeper I folks, that's what is important if you plan to mess around with the creature itself.

SHould have a scene when a demon spawn is training and it evolves into a dragon when an Enemy Hero(?) walks in thinking to get an easy opponent. dragon head turns and camera zooms into into it's eyes then change scene.
