I'm not much of a composer but I know an easy to use software that makes music It's called LMMS (Linux Music Mixer Software) and it's for windows and macs. *try making a track on this thing for DK*

The best software to my knowledge for MACS is Garage Band. One of the most powerful tools for windows is Propellerhead Reason. A very powerful program.

I sent ya an e-mail. However, I'm going to post something here anyways.

Just spent a little time on this to have something to show. DK was the reason I got into music :) If you choose me, I'll work hard to make some good tracks :D

What software? and also, are we going to have the DK2 thing were some rooms change the music if you look at them or not?

kyle
December 21st, 2010, 23:34
That doesn't sound too good.

Imagine you are trying to get some ambient music playing and it keeps switching every time you look at certain rooms.

natchoguy

I wasn't proposing, I was asking if we were going to use that "formula"

Blutonium
December 22nd, 2010, 00:20
It's not music that changes, it's just the sounds.

hatchery you would hear chickens, training room you would hear swords/etc, graveyard you would hear bells.

not music, just the sounds.

.mmpz, I'm afraid this format is unsupported by every media player on my computer. Tried to put it into audacity and all I got was static, maybe something like MP3, WAV or OGG? :/

natchoguy
December 29th, 2010, 15:16
Dammit, I can't upload it since the WAV. file is too big, is there any other way of uploading stuff?

-note- I deleted my previous post

You could try a smaller format like MP3 (which is way smaller and better for exchange over the internet) or upload it to a place like Supload (http://www.supload.com/free-audio-hosting)

natchoguy
December 29th, 2010, 15:38
The program I use doesn't allow me to export the music as a mp3 and I don't know how to convert WAV to mp3

Mothrayas
December 29th, 2010, 15:43
Any decent audio editing program (such as Audacity) can open WAV and save as MP3.

A New Room
December 29th, 2010, 15:45
Then the only things left are either to upload it somewhere else like http://www.supload.com/free-audio-hosting, or find a way to convert it to mp3 (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wav+to+mp3+converter).

Other than that I really have no more ideas :(

Not unless you download a plugin called LAME :/

The website keeps on getting an error that I didn't select any files (trust me, I did) and even the mp3 is too big

Can't you just use a general file hosting service such as MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/)? Unless the MP3 is over 200MB, you shouldn't have any issues there.

natchoguy, what program can produce those type of sounds? Sounds like midi stuff for DOS games. Dungeon Keeper is going to need lots of high quality ambient sound work. The music for DK1 was really good for it's time. I think if you were to see DK3 they would add all that orchestral rubbish you hear in games today.

I've been meaning to post a little compilation of songs which I made 2-3 years ago. They show quite a lot of elements that I will be putting into the DK music. Obviously these were in no way an attempt to create a song in DK theme.

Meh, personally I prefer more instrumental music than pure ambience with the occasional sound effect throwing you off and occasional percussion.

Also, natchoguy posted his stuff for the composition, not the sound quality. It could always be remade into something with proper sound.

I used LMMS and Mothryas is right: I mentioned that you may not like it because of the sounds

I'd be happy to provide some music so long as the guys I currently do stuff for are okay about it. I'd be more focused around the weird, (industrial?), vague, scary noise stuff from the first game than the pseudo religious choral sounding stuff from 2, though. Partly because I'm better equipped to do that and partly because I prefer the soundtrack of 1 :3. I use Fruity Loops, Cubase and some non-digital signal processing equipment.

I would absolutely LOVE to work on music for the game! I've been salivating at the idea of a contemporary update of Dungeon Keeper 1 since I was a kid (I'm 21 now). Didn't think I'd ever see it happen outside of my dreams. I stumbled across this project a few days ago, and I'm absolutely floored by the progress you've all made so far.

You can find a sample of some of my work at http://soundcloud.com/samthornmusic - there's a demo set as well as the soundtracks to a couple of games I wrote music for last year.

Again, I can't stress how much I'd love to be a committed part of this project. Let me know!

Also, since this is my first post, it's great to meet everybody - feel free to send a message saying hi :)

All the best,
Sam

First of all, I'm new on this forum! Greetings everyone! :)

I just found out of this project today, and being a Keeper fan myself, I would love to create some music for the purpose. That is, of course, if anything is still needed.
I don't share much of my other works on the internet, unless it has some kind of purpose, but I'll make some demo material and upload them shortly! Dungeon Keeper has always been a great inspiration for me.
Also, good work on the models! I especially like the tentacle and the chickens.

I can't support this project enough! DK was half of my childhood. :D

Hope I can help out!

I created a profile on Soundcloud yesterday and uploaded a few tracks, with a kind of horrer sound to it. The set with the genre: "horror".
I'll upload some more, when I get done with it. Or when the musicians allow me to publice the recordings. :b

The other stuff is from my former band.
