Ok people, I just can't figure out what room stands for which mercenary on maps that have them.

I saw an enemy AI building a huge library soon after lair, hatchery, treasury and claiming portal, and he got a lot of wizards, I tried the same and got Monks!?!?!

Knights neither came because of the training room nor the combat pit, but somehow I got one.

Guards just appear out of no reason. Royal Guards appear because I've built a temple and a torture chamber, explain me that!

Fairies also appeared for the temple but they are far from Dark Angel counterparts :D They are more like Misstress dopplers.

Thieves, Elves worked fine, but for the Giant I needed a 5x5 Workshop. And I NEVER got Wizards!

Please someone notify me of the full mercenary attraction list.

what is that map you play? might be a custom setting map.

It was just Frosty's Lair, probably no custom settings, right? Well, are Frosty's maps considered "canon" at all? What is normal?
Mercenary Portals seem to work fire on maps that already have them, but when I wanted to start figuring out which rooms draw in which creatures, it became a nightmare! :D

Well I would certainly do things differently if I were a DK2 Programmer back in the old days.
Here's how it should be in my opinion:

Guard: Lair + Guard room + Treasury + Training Room
Monk: 4 for 1 5x5 Temple hand statue
Fairy: Torture Chamber
Royal Guard: Lair + Guard room + Treasury + Training Room & 9 tiles of Temple

others are the same

Fairy: Torture Chamber

Offtopic: The f... When do Fairies torture people? I know Fairies are counterparts to the Dark Mistress but still. Bring me proof of a Fairy torturing someone. ...Without editing with the Map Editor.

Ontopic: Yeah, Jay nailed the correct rooms.

Who said anything about torturing? We're talking about heroes, a Fairy in this case could be the illusion who rescues tortured heroes from the torture chamber, while instead of being an actual mirage, actually a part of a hero raiding party who destroyed the room on the way.

DK2 makes sense if you give it a chance! :D

oooh that sounded ... shameful...

oooh that sounded ... shameful...

Yes it did. Very much shameful. I made no sense out of that at all.
