View Full Version : Keeper FX 0.38c crash in Windows 7 64bit (no current solution in readme or forums)

Hi guys,

I just discovered Keeper FX and am very excited to get this baby to work on my Windows 7 64bit...

The game launches and plays the intro fine, then goes to the main menu, but it crashes to desktop when I click on anything on the menu (I tried Start New Game, Free Play Levels, Options, etc).

I read the readme fully and looked through forums for support and none of the offered solutions work for me. I ran Keeper FX debug mode and the log file came up clean, with only one error:

Error: setup_game: Failed to initialize Speech module: KeeperSpeech module not found

As far as I understand from reading another post, this is a non-issue and has nothing to do with what's going on. Besides this error, the log file has NO MORE errors, even though the game consistently CTDs.

I have it set to 640x480 in the cfg file, since I read that helped a few people. However, I still get a crash to desktop.

I am downloading version 0.38b now in the hopes that it may work, but I am doubtful. Would appreciate any help!

Thank you!

Add the game to Windows DEP list.

Thanks for the quick response!

However, I added Keeper FX to DEP list and am still getting the same crash.

Check your log file "keeperfx.log" to see why crashes. Probably it can be the graphics configuration

Ok, this is wierd:

I tried running the game through keeperfx_dbg.exe, and it works!

However, keeperfx.exe still crashes to desktop. For all intents and purposes, I don't really need a "fix", because I will just use keeperfx_dbg.exe to play, but this is still a strange situation. I suppose if anyone else runs into this problem, we can revisit it.

For now, a big "thank you" to the Keeper FX creators and for the support!

Do what he said, the keeperfx_dbg.exe is just for getting a more complex log file, it eats up your CPU the more you play. You can copy the last lines of the .log file, or just the sentance that says ERROR.
