Here are the recipes. Just throw the creature/cast the spell into the temple pool to get the reward.

Victims = Reward
Broken (since a part of the victims are already used in another recipe, unless someone actually gets it working)

Good sacrifices

For getting a creature/hero

2 Vampires = Bile Demon
2 Trolls = Warlock
2 Salamanders = Mistress
2 Dark Elves = Troll
2 Warlocks = Goblin
2 Rogues = Salamander
2 Skeletons + Firefly = Dark Elf
2 Black Knights = Vampire
2 Bile Demons = Rogue
Guard + Mistress = Black Knight

Black Knight + Turncoat = Knight
Goblin + Create Imp = Dwarf
Bile Demon + Salamander + Tremor = Giant
Warlock + Inferno = Wizard
Dark Elf + Sight of Evil = Elven Archer
Mistress + Create Gold = Thief
Vampire + Guard + Heal = Monk
Mistress + Firefly + Lightning = Fairy
Rogue + Dark Elf + Call to Arms = Guard

For getting a crate/special

Imp + Bile Demon = Gas Trap
Imp + Giant = Boulder Trap
Imp + Warlock = Sentry Trap
Imp + Dark Elf = Alarm Trap
Imp + Salamander = Fireburst Trap
Imp + Mistress = Lightning Trap
Imp + Fairy = Freeze Trap
Imp + Skeleton = Fear Trap
Imp + Troll = Trigger Trap
Imp + Black Knight = Spike Trap

Imp + Thief = Wooden Door
Imp + Guard = Braced Door
Imp + Knight = Steel Door
Imp + Wizard = Magic Door
Imp + Rogue = Secret Door
Imp + Elven Archer = Barricade

3 Monks = Special Mana Boost
3 Thieves = Special Gold Boost
2 Dwarves + Mistress = Special Make Safe
2 Mistresses + Fairy = Special Make Happy
2 Black Knights + Dark Elf = Special Make Unhappy
Bile Demon + Dark Elf + Mistress = Special Receive Imps
Bile Demon + Giant + Guard = Special Stun Imps

Bad sacrifices

2 Mistresses = Skeleton
Black Knight + Warlock + Firefly = Imp

Neutral sacrifice

Gold = Funny quote

2 Mistresses + Fairy = Special Make Happy - doesn't works, after sacrificing 2 mistresses I get a skeleton

2 Black Knights + Dark Elf = Special Make Unhappy - doesn't works, after sacrificing 2 black knights I get a vampire

About crates, I got them, but imps didn't carry them to traps, they were just laying in the workshop.

I find especially useful:

2 Salamanders = Mistress
2 Black Knights = Vampire
2 Bile Demons = Rogue

Black Knight + Turncoat = Knight
Goblin + Create Imp = Dwarf
Warlock + Inferno = Wizard
Dark Elf + Sight of Evil = Elven Archer

especially getting heroes, although they are weaker than "forces of evil", except Wizard they allow to get more creatures than the opponent, who doesn't uses sacrifices :).

Is there any way to get a firefly? (Should mention that the level 10 Dark Angel in the last part of the campaign needs a Firefly, a Black Knight and a Warlock to be sacrificed so you can get to him.)

Unfortunately, the answer is... no, unless sacrifice recipes are modified.

I'll have to remember these for the next time I'm playing a level with no portals or locked portals :)
that is..if the level allows me to create a temple..
How do I combine creature sacrifices with the spells?

Great to have this all written down in one place.
I ALWAYS forget these recipes when I am playing the game!

Found some new sacrifices on other website, don't know if they're working:

2 Skeletons = Dark Elf
2 Wizards = Bile Demon

Salamander + Dark Elf = Dark Mistress
Skeleton + Troll = Bile Demon
Bile Demon + Warlock + Dark Elf = Receive imps

Update: Finally tried them, they're not working. Perhaps they were for 1.0/1.3

Broken (since a part of the victims are already used in another recipe, unless someone actually gets it working)

...

2 Mistresses + Fairy = Special Make Happy
2 Black Knights + Dark Elf = Special Make Unhappy

Sac a Mistress, then a Fairy, then another Mistress.
Or a Black Knight, then a Dark Elf, then another Black Knight.

Wouldn't it work (provided it's a valid recipe) this way?

I don't know, did you try it?

I don't know, I don't have the game and I'm not going to get it just to try this out. I think you put in the whole "broken" stuff, why don't you try it?

Yeah, I did it because someone reported it. I'm going to check this out once for all later.

EDIT: Yup, Mistress + Fairy + Mistress doesn't work. It gives me a Skeleton. Same goes for Black Knight + Dark Elf + Black Knight. It gives me a Vampire.

I have altered these sacrifices:

2 Dwarves + Mistress = Special Make Safe
2 Mistresses + Fairy = Special Make Happy
2 Black Knights + Dark Elf = Special Make Unhappy

So that now it is:

3 Dwarves = Special Make Safe
3 Fairies = Special Make Happy
Black Knight + Goblin + Dark Elf = Special Make Unhappy

Will be available in my future unofficial patch. In the meanwhile, edit the sacrifices yourself using a hex editor.

Was it really neccessary to check those though? It is kinda obvious that they conflict with other sacrifices.

No, it wasn't, but I wanted to answer to Mothrayas' question and confirm the broken sacrifices at the same time:

Or a Black Knight, then a Dark Elf, then another Black Knight.

Yeah it's obvious they conflict, but even so it could still be possible to do them. (Although not in this case).

No. They were added to latest versions (1.6 or 1.7).

And Bile Demon + Dark Elf + Mistress should work.

Fact is a very stubborn thing. It doesn't works. Do you want a video response?

The sacrifices that grant Specials I believe are the ones that also require the later versions. So if you're not using 1.61/1.7, they wouldn't work.

That's true, I am using 1.7

2 Salamanders for a mistress. I always knew there was a beast insider her dark heart.

Hi guys, hey,i been playing dk2 for years, keep running into same issue when i get back to the editor (dk2 editor pro v 2.0),editing sacrifice recipes doesn't seem to do anything,i have the retail dk2 v1 on cd ,patched to 1.7,then saw stuff on here about going back to 1.5,converting maps from 1.7 back to 1.5,and now the gog version too, same results, using edit sacrifices in editor doesn't work.
'edit self with hex editor' ,doh.hit the books again,o my head hurts,i just installed hxd,now what?
perhaps someone could point me in the rite direction? i have done programming in c c++ and java, not an imbecile, but hex is greek to me ,and which file(s) to edit?pm or post please.

uh,nevrmind lol, found a thread for it ,editor was unfinished evidently and doesn't save these parameters, and just fyi:
evidently hex editing only works on existing sacrifices, cannot add new ones (length of file or changes address of other things) see :
https://keeperklan.com/threads/106-Sacrifice-editing.

it is something of a workaround though
