Hi all, seen this forum around for a while, finally got myself registered this morning.
Big DK1 fan from when it first came out till now, played it religiously many times, have recently built a new pc and decided to whip DK1 back out, actually ended up downloading a patched windows 7 version with deeper dungeons maps marked as free play levels or some such,
My only negative is that I cant make my own maps anymore, believe me when I say i've had a really good look online for an answer (using the original editor)
Surely there must be an answer? I did see a post on here with someone asking, he was refered to a DK1 map tutorial which I believe is for Adikted??
Can any DK1 masters shed any light?
Ive been having a good read around here and it seems people are doing some pretty cool stuff too!!
Nice to meet you all btw.
Alex :)

Sounds like you got your hands on KeeperFX (http://keeper.lubie.org/html/dk_keeperfx.php).
ADiKtEd (http://keeper.lubie.org/html/dk1_tools_mapedit.php#ADiKtEd) is a map editor which works for both Dungeon Keeper 1 and KeeperFX. There's also a guide (https://keeperklan.com/threads/1666-How-to-get-the-official-editor-to-work-with-KeeperFX) to get the Official Editor running on KeeperFX, but I haven't been able to get consistent results with it. If you don't want to use ADiKtEd, you could possibly try if that works.

Yes please thats exactly what I am looking for, do you have a link to the "follow me" instructions? If it doesent work then I will have to bite the bullet and learn to use Adikted.
I love the original editor, I did try Adikted for 30 mins or so, I just felt robbed and was left scratching my head afterwards :p
Thanks for your reply too!
Cancel that, I just realised you linked the guide.
Thanks!!

That's weird my instructions don't seem to work for most people. Either one of my steps is wrong and need revision, or people don't follow them accordingly. Whatever, in my case, it works rather well so I don't understand.

It may not be so simple.
People uses different versions of Windows, and different setting in the OS. Also, AV software may affect that.
I remember that at start of KeeperFX, I had lots of complains that the game just closes without any message or information in log file. I tried to reproduce that on my various computers for a few weeks, with no success.
Finally, someone wrote that keeperfx.exe must be added to DEP exclusions - I wouldn't ever noticed that, as I had DEP disabled on all PCs I ever put hand on.

I recommend you at least unlock the sticky thread, so troubleshooting can actually be done in the thread. The current system of "PM me if something is wrong" is not really a good idea, especially as you (to my impression) have a tendency to disappear for weeks at a time. Opening the thread can also lead to finding common solutions so you don't have to be depended on for any person who has any issue. (Also, people are less inclined to PM a user than to just post in a thread).

Hi all!
Im new to forums and wasn't sure where to post; so hopefully i have'nt broken up a balanced conversation!
Im playing the original campaign for DK1; and am currently on SkyBird Trill (Final Level); where i believe theres a glitch in the game?
My minions will not attack other creatures and when in battle they will try and hit eachother but to no prevail, when traps are set off they do not damage my enemies; when using spells i.e lightning; the graphics are wrong and only attack individual targets rather than a group when charging the spell to its max.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks.
Paul

Seems that the game has reached the maximum things limit. My guess is that the enemy Keeper has built too much crates in his workshops, or perhaps you have too much stuff on your side.
The workaround is to sell stuff that takes too much things: training room, workshop...
