By the way I have forgotten to mention it, that the maps named levels are my own created maps and not the maps from the campaign.
A few levels are have been deleted(I don't know why) therefore begin it from level 6 !

No one is obligated to play another's maps, and out of those who do, they are not obligated to give feedback. Besides, you only waited a day. The DKII forums are not that active.

When I had converted that was the problem that the desired
triggers did not work. I believe this problem did you also. I will see about it again.

- The king is not dead!!! He comes back to kill you and your friends. In addition a keeper,
who was a near friend of nemesis, and the twin brother of the king support him. Be careful !

- Building fast, building safe. Because the lord's army are coming very fast, strong and soon the lord himself(If you are still alive;) )!

- The only way to stop the attacks is to kill the lord!

- Work together to stay alive and to defeat the king and his support finally!

- In this realm if you search you will find a lot of important items.


General:

- Best played with AI difficulty "Greyman" (same for the maps before, have forgotten to mention it!)

- If you load a saved game the AI will not work correctly so a restart will fix it

I played some of your maps during the week and can gladly give some feedback.

The most important thing first: I had fun with your maps :D

At first I played Dangerous and Secret. I know it is meant to be played in multiplayer with another human player, but I tried it with an AI for blue anyway. Also I downloaded the first version you posted and did not use the one from your following post.
The difficulty was nice overall and I had a fun "slowly advance into enemy territory"-game. Since the AI keepers are quite bad (played V1.7) my blue "ally" wasn't much help and had no impact on the game. After a long game I finally cleared all hero armies and hero lairs but found no way to get to the green keeper. If you could clarify how it is supposed to be played or what I missed that would help me :) Since the map seems to be very big I had some crashes from time to time and at some points could not build any more rooms. I fear that is just the DK2-engine on big maps.

I also played Level10 and was in for quite a surprise :D While the other keepers very sadly too weak to pose any challenge the first half of the game was really really really challenging. I had to start this map several times because the hero armies would simply overwhelm me. After several weaker waves the heroes would start to invade with lvl5-9 units (for example 3 lvl9 bile demons, lvl5 skeletons or higher lvl knights) which spelled my doom many times. The heroes would also tunnel into my dungeon every time so hiding was not an option. When I finally managed to survive long enough to convert enough strong heroes to my cause I had practically won the game. Since I started the map several times I noticed an odd bug/feature: Every time I started the map from the skirmish-screen the spells I started with AND the spells I could research varied widly. Sometimes I had 2 spells from the start and could research 6 total. One time I started with no spells (no summon imp is harsh). Another time I started with 2 spells and could research 10 total. During the game I finally won I started with summon imp and heal - one of the reasons this time I managed to win.
Overall thought: While something seems to have gone wrong - I doubt you intended those lvl9 units to attack so early - I enjoyed the map surprisingly well. From time to time I like the kind of challenge that makes you restart a map several times and work out a suitable strategy. :D

I also started Twin Brothers, but since I played without the allied keepers the enemy waves became too much very quickly. Will probably come back to this one when I need another challenge.


Just bear in mind, that probably many ppl - like me - only play DK from time to time. It is possible, that some ppl will only enjoy your maps about 3 years from now :)

Yes you are right unfortunately the AI keeper do nothing after he build all the rooms(Same in version 1.3). I had the same problem with the DK2-engine, becaue the map I think is really big that is the cause why the problem is coming up. I had solved the problem by doing claim enemy rooms, lairs etc. as low as possible.

I will give you some hints to go further:

- Have you killed all the bosses in each castle(vampire, giant, fairy and the knights/ with black knights). This are the five required targets if you killed them you will activate a trigger, which altered an impenetrable rock to a normal rock at one point(approximately at the center). And this place will activate a trigger again(approximately at the center too) if you killed the next important targets(I will not mention the names, it should remain a mystery stay for more tension). And after them the final castle will wait for you, but beware save before attacking this castle(I have spend much time to defeat this castle it is very hard!!!) and from this castle you will be available to enter to greens area. That's all.

I have viewed about the code of this map again and yeah I have forgotten to change it. And the lvl 9 bile demon should come normally later, but I think it is much harder and challenging then before.

This map is awesome. I have solved this map by working together so if my friends under attack I gave my best to defend with him and traps and working fast are very important in this realm. I have said it before that this attacks are coming to a certain time(hint: more than 8000 seconds) and then it will be end.




Just bear in mind, that probably many ppl - like me - only play DK from time to time. It is possible, that some ppl will only enjoy your maps about 3 years from now :)

Glad to hear ;). By making maps I give my best for a good atmosphere in the game. And not all maps are very challanging some are more relaxed, some are more complicated as in "dangerous and secret" with the triggers.

I just finished the lvl7 map and before I forget everything, here some feedback:
Overall one of the easier maps, although having no healing spellforced me to play careful and prevented me from converting enemy creatures. (Would it be possible to use the torture chamber without the heal spell? Like feeding the prisoner 50 chickens to keep him alive long enough? :D ). The Layout of the heroes' dungeon was nice and alowed extensive exploration. From time to time the heroes would atack with several weaker forces - sometimes tunneling right into my dungeon.
The big problem of this map, I realised only at the very end when I tunneled into the AI-dungeon: The AIs are set hostile to each other and for the whole time they seemed to have waged a never ending war at each other. When I finally arrived at the scene the yellow and green Keeper only had imps and lvl1 creatures left, which fought over the ruined dungeon heart of the blue keeper. Both had almost no dungeon rooms - either they were destroyed during the war or they never got time to expand their dungeon. The pink/violet keeper was on another "continent", but for some reason did nothing. He never started to dig or build anything, I have no idea why.

After what you told me, I will revisit the Secret and Dangerous map these days :)

A final question: Was the lvl7 map intended to be played with only the "summon imp", "symbiosis", "Lightning", "Turncoat", and "Rally Flag" (or whatever it is called) ?
I am asking because when playing the lvl10 map I started with seemingly random spells every time I restarted. I worry I might have missed something when starting DK2-maps. I copy the map files into the DK2\data\editor\maps folder, start the game, click on skirmish, select the map and add all possible keepers and set their AI to "Greyman".

Final final question: Has anyone tested the different AIs and can tell me what the differences are?

Yes I know, because the first posted maps of this thread are not programmed very well this is the most important cause why this maps have little bugs. And in this realm I wasn't very creative with the AI's but in version 1.7 they are not really strong too ;)!

This some spells I have chosen with deliberate so I think all maps without lvl10 were changed with intention and the answer is YES. Next question with the AI's: I have tested all difficulties in the same map and came to the solution that "Greyman" train his creature with dropping they into the training room and they are not aggressive for example never attack me. That are the perfect option for my maps!


Final final question: Has anyone tested the different AIs and can tell me what the differences are?

I don't know all AI difficulties with their differences exactly- only that some are more aggressive, some more defensive, some are do nothing from beginning to end and so on. Hope this will help you further!

I probably wont have much time for DK2 during the next week, but before I am busy another update :)

I played the lonely keeper map. The start was surprisingly challenging (yes I should not have been in a hurry to claim the gems - but I ran out of gold ;) ) with the rest of the map of medium difficulty. There was alot of, lets call it, "close quarters fighting" almost all the time - my imps would try to claim the neutral ground and would always quickly meet some resistance from the neutral forces. When my core army was available I would then defend my imps while they claimed the new territory. Since there was only one portal and gold was limited in the begining my core army were 4 black knights, 5 salamanders, 2 goblins and 3 warlocks. There also were varrying amounts of skeletons first a few, then 30+ and then a few again. Symbiosis also helped alot. The final phase consisted of the atack on the blue keeper. There I met hard resistance - at least hard for a keeper AI (used Greymane AI). The neutral vampires and giants really helped the blue keeper in his defense and during the whole game I had to be very careful not to loose my strong units in enemy territory.
Summary: A hectic map that offers a medium challenge and fun :)

I also played the campaign from dk2player (thread "New campaign" atm at page 3 of this forum). It offered some backstory and consisted of 4 levels, the 2.level having 4 different versions to choose from (kinda in the campaign with lvlx a and b). The campaign started fun in the first level but the quality of the 3 other levels was considerable lower. During level2 two out of three keepers were killed by the heroes or other keepers and the third ne killed by my lvl8 fly since his imps were somewhere else and not defending/respawning at his dungeon heart. Level 3 and 4 finally were simple 1on1s against one other keeper, both times on maps which looked like they were drawn in 5 minutes.
If I sound too negative then thats probably because I had such high hopes after level1. Still I am glad dk2player took the time to create this campaign. And since I played all the way through it couldn't have been that bad :)

I also found (and replayed) an old map I played several years back, which I enjoyed very much. It was called "The Inquisition" and it featured many special conditions. This allowed the map to have several "quests" you have to finish and each quest will advance you towards the next one until you finally unlock the path to the King. A very interesting map in my opinion.

Wyrmcast: Thanks for the explanation of the AIs, really makes DK2 more enjoyable if one can avoid the worst AIs. :)
Since DK2 is now sold on GOG, do you think there will be some sort of revival for DK and DK2?

Also they will very rarely use the combat pit now, if ever (they will normally never use the combat pit in 1.7 but there do seem to have been some strange exceptions). Basically the AIs are very weird in the 1.7 version.

This is incorrect. 1.7 AI is much better at managing its dungeon, and it actually trains creatures in CP to level 8 usually. It lets creatures to fight for longer times, and does not pick them up after 1-2 hiths like in 1.3-1.51.

Attached is Stone Knight's map dangerous and secret, but heavily modified. the difficulty has been increased significantly. With over 200+ new heroes added through out the map, more heroes added to parties, and increased level heroes for parties. the starting area for red and blue keeper has completely been changed, where once the building area was just that of dirt is now turned into a heroes fortress on both sides of blue and red keepers building areas. green has been giving stronger units. the fortresses through out the land have been buffed with more traps and guarded heavily. Can not list every single change made because it would take days to list all the changes :(


This map is for hardcore players mostly.

For you can not just simply make your perfect 5x5 base, without there being trouble that is.

NOTE: Be careful of exploring, if you explore and are ill prepared for battle, it is highly likely you will die.

P.S. - NOTICE: This attachment currently does not work - please download the one from the post after this one that has the working file for this specific map.

you were right, I deleted between 25-35 creatures and it loads just fine now. I will attached the working one now! Oh, and what do you think of the modification? feedback is appreciated!

The map is really hard. Everywhere are heroes at lvl 1-10. If you like that kind of maps then it's fine, but that isn't my kind of creating maps ;).

ha-ha yea I pretty much modified it to my likings - but I really enjoy your maps too! every map I've played so far of yours has been perfect difficulty level and super long! my average time of completing your maps is 4 hours :D Also your maps are laid out beautifully.

With that being said, when is your next map being released?

The following maps shouldn't be played in the skirmish mode, because if you play there the AI wouldn't act as I programmed it!!!

To play that maps create a shortcut(if you haven't one already) of dkII.exe and go to the properities
and there to the register shortcut and write additionally behind the line Target ...Dungeon Keeper 2\DKII.EXE" -q -level "levelname"
(levelname->for example Survival A, Survival B...).

Problems with blackscreen and text I had created additionally a thread (Problem with training in combat pit), where this problem will be explained.

But I put it in here too:

1. After the level start and if you have a blackscreen, which was the main problem at me. You have to minimize the game and after you are the desktop just maximize it and the blackscreen won't be show anymore (You have to do it every times if you start a level!!!)

2. And if you have an error with text, because it isn't readable, you have to save the game first and then load it, that was it.

3.And finally the problem, who gave me headaches. The solution for this one is simple, you have to restart the game and the computer players will train his creatures.

The saved games can be played in the normal dkII.exe!!!

Oh wow, 7 new maps, although first 4 very similar, I will play them all! :) that is, when I get to them of course. currently playing Critical Situation - so no I haven't played ALL of your maps - yet! :) I have only completed A-new-rival, The lonely keeper, the poor keeper, and the-twin-brothers. All very hard but fun enjoyable maps! I'm about to finish Critical situation, so I will add a screenshot of battling last keeper green, toughest A.I I've played so far in your maps - yellow took me 2 hours to kill. King Reginald (or whatever his name is) is hard to kill at level 8 + when there is 30 of them lol, was fun though :D not to mention the vampires too. and green probably has 50-60ish creatures!

Maybe similar but they difficulty levels are important, so don't compare they. That is my piece of advice:).

Oh you was at a level, that I had also problems with it. The two AI's are incredible strong, but I think a good player need a good challenge. If I compare it with the levels in the campaign mode, that almost all together aren't this map "critical situation" :/. Too easy creatings!

And by the way good luck by playing the maps. There are a lot of more challenging maps are waitimg on you:)!

Yes, the dungeon keeper 2 default campaign was too easy and boring. no level was even close to a challenge. I downloaded an updated - harder version of the campaign and it was too easy and the last few last were poorly done, so I didn't even finish it. I wish you were the one that made the campaign levels so they would be a challenge :) And I also beat Critical situation 10min after my last post :D

I haven't the time and lust to do a completely new campaign, so I will say unfortunately there will never come a campaign from my side.

But I continue making individual maps in my free time.

P.S. I have also noticed when I play any of your maps that have mana vaults, when I save the game my +mana 800 drops down to +500 when I load a saved game. when it should be +800 mana.

This map similars the level 15b in the campaign, who you have to attack the fairy fotress.

- But much stronger, much harder, much secrets and traps

I have tested it several times and it packs a punch :D.

- Well, Keeper in this realm, if you not act with strategy and don't look out your Dungeon will be overhelmed by a big amount of heros in short time be carefully...hehe because Pureheart the Lord of this place have been imprisoned all of your creatures and nobody without your imps and a few skeletons are in your owned !

- So just a little alarm of one hero could be your end !

- But it seems Pureheart wasn't there, if you at his castle you'll see what I mean. In the next map Pureheart is waiting on you.

Very good maps. However i have a problem when you win the game. When you win no portal gem appears. You are forced to end the level, you cannot continue as that will give a deadlock. If its a map where you need to kill all other keeps you can use the function "Last heart generates portal gem". If you only fights heroes then attach a gem to them. I always continue playing after the level is won but not thats not possible now.

Yes you're right. The first maps I didn't add a "win" or "lose" to the levels, because if I had played that in skirmish-mode that wasn't necessary it automatically return to the menu if you win or lose.
But now I changed it that you have to work with the ->Target line in the shorcut of dkII.exe<- and as you said we need a gem or a win function in this situation. At the newer maps I should have added it.

I seem to not be able to play your recent map pure hearts realm.... I loaded map in editor and saw you didn't check the box as 'Skirmish level' so I couldn't see it then listed under skirmish levels when I load the game. so I check the box but still I can not load the map, it does not appear in my skirmish maps still.

Don't start that maps from the skirmish campagin! I've posted a description what you have to do. It's also weird, though you checked the box it doesn't appear?! But like I said start the game from your shortcut (more information above) and save it there. At a later time if you want to play the saved game again start the normal dkII.exe.

Cause why I doing it that way is that certain settings from editor didn't work in game, if I start it through skirmish.

Ok, that did work! So I started playing the map and after the first wave of heros a cinematic happened and a one hour timer appeared, but I have no idea what it means when it hits zero lol. And I claimed the portal and after about 20mins I got no creatures from the portal and I eventually died because I was overwhelmed by heros since I only had 7 creatures.

Yes I know :). Therefore, you have to work quickly and effectively.
Normally you only should get hero creatures from the portals, and some of them can't get out of there by themselves. Did you build except the lair and hatchery other rooms too to test it, because this is important to get other creatures like knights, wizards etc...!! I had the same problem, and after I've built for instance the training-room I got guards.

Yes, I built everything I was given to build, but attracted no heroes from the portals, my room sizes are 3x3 4x3 and 4x4. I'm going to reinstall dk2 I think its the problem, ive had problems on other maps.

after reinstalling dk2 - I downloaded 1.5 patch and tried to type -q -level PureheartsRealm into the command line, but the game just crashes now.

You have forgotten to write "" down.
You have to write it like: -q -level "levelname"
All things are necessary to let it work properly, otherwise it will always crash.

Ok, I have resolved the problem - it was my dk2 itself, the .icd was preventing me from using your maps in the command line causing the game to crash if I tried. but I have fixed it!

But for your recent maps, stronghold, prisoners, and pureheartsrealm (will play soon) i love these maps that you have made the most, they seem more polished, challenging, and more enjoyable - quite refreshing. Keep using this style for the rest of your maps :D

Just finished playing Prisoners - At first it was a bit of a challenge rescuing my creatures, but then it got pretty easy when I amassed an army of skeletons and vampires, and greatly out leveled the hero levels. One of your easier levels I'd say.

Also do I play your survival maps by loading them in the command line? -q -level "Survival A" ? Or just your newer maps?

Couldn't figure out the puzzle part, but for the map itself it wasn't too hard. none of the opposing keepers had high level creatures so it was easy to kill them.

I would recommend you to start with little maps, and besides the difficulty of maps it's important to create good designed maps like the campaign.

Looks like you're trying to open a non-zip file without the proper program to extract it. I use 7-zip which is able to extract zip/rar/7z files.

Absolutely cool maps. Beat them all in a week. The level of difficulty is decent.
Especially LEVEL (10) where bile demons 9 lvl come in unexpectedly.
Also had to sweat with twin-brothers. Dropped skeletons to my allies, so they could hold the defense.

The only thing I didn't quite like was that portals don't collapse on many maps if you claim them and the heroes continue to invade. Also a lot of heroes' bases are quite empty. They rarely have rooms.

I love all of your maps, but The strongest survived is the very best. The absolute hammer! Playing this map is the easiest way to either die directly, or to create level 10 creatures. In any case, there is no shortage of enemies.

My special forces: Dark Angel Cant and the Dark Knights Mook, Marune, Kasper and Hellot. My Heros from the beginning to the end.:o

Please never stop creating maps for DKII. NEVER!!! :o:knight:

I thought long time about really start mapmaking again, takes much time
But i decided to remake original campaign lvl 1 - 20. Hope it will good as the past:D

Thanks to hapuga for guide how replace original campaign files, so we will be able to start missions from menu like original ones

that's the status: haven't start yet:)
