The Black Knight
...and Ribs
The Black Knight continued to fight the Training Dummy, landing many blows on its face and chest, yet did not leave too terrible of a wound on the dummy. This, of course, was on purpose. The Black Knight knew to keep her distance from the Training Dummy so that only the very edge of her blade would scratch it. If she got too close and allowed the Training Dummy to take the full blow from her sword, it would be over in an instant. She had learned from her past mistake, and knew not to repeat it. The complete destruction of the Training Dummies frustrated not only her but also the Keeper. Replacing them cost a fair bit of money, and in the meantime, she would lack a way of practice.
Once Larquidos began to speak, The Black Knight stopped training and listened.
"Minions, I am about to embrace your fortunate compatriot Skios with my mind. If the dungeon is attacked whilst I am absent, I expect each of you to lay down their lives to protect my heart."
The Black Knight spoke, "As you wish, Lord Larquidos."
Rather than wait for Larquidos' Heart to fall under attack, The Black Knight decided it would be best if she went to the Dungeon Heart now and waited for an enemy to appear, if one ever would. Knowing of her own true weakness, her lack of mobility, it seemed like a generally smarter move. So she left the Training Room and departed for the Heart Chamber.
Meanwhile, Ribs was standing in the Heart Chamber with his jaw hanging open. how could he, an immortal being, be rejected? For a Spider of all things! This was madness. This could not stand. Someone must pay.
"I kill a Dragon..." Ribs spoke quietly as he took out an arrow and aimed it towards Larquidos' heart, "And this is how you repay me!?"
Without a second thought, Ribs fired the arrow at Larquidos' Heart.
YOUR DUNGEON HEART IS UNDER ATTACK!
"How do you like that, Larquidos!?" Ribs asked him.
Suddenly there was a loud thud and the dungeon shook a bit. Ribs looked around the Heart Chamber in confusion, worried that he had caused it. Then there was another thud and a shake, causing Ribs to jump. Ribs paniced a bit as there were more thuds, getting even louder, and closer, each time.
"What do you think you're doing?" a voice from behind suddenly asked Ribs.
Ribs turned around and jumped at the sight of The Black Knight.
"Y-Y-You'r-r-re v-v-ver-ry b-b-big..." Ribs whispered nervously as he ironically shook with fear.
"You have ten seconds to explain why you are fool enough to betray Lord Larquidos, before you die," The Black Knight spoke, in her casual yet still rather dark tone.
"Wait..."
"Ten."
"You're a woman!?"
"Eight."
"A female Black Knight!?"
"Six."
"That's awesome!"
"Four."
"I bet under all that armor, you're a super hot and sexy babe!"
"One."
"Can I touch your brea-"
"Die."
Before Ribs could finish his question, The Black Knight unsheathed her sword and struck Ribs roughly in the chest with a mighty blow, knocking him to a wall and causing him to break into several pieces.
"OW! That hurt god damn it!" Ribs complained.
Skeletons are pathetically easy to defeat...
Ribs' hands quickly found his head then reattached it to his body, and then Ribs watched and directed his hands to properly reassemble himself.
...to kill, however... that is another story.

Ribs, meanwhile, was upset that he was not chosen. Within his rage and without much thinking, Ribs shot an arrow at Larquidos' Heart. The Black Knight caught this act, however, then attacked Ribs after he failed to explain himself. Ribs was knocked into several pieces all around the room but then began to reassemble himself.

Skios the Spider & Larquidos the Dungeon Keeper
(OOC: Searing, I changed Larquidos' thought colors a bit for the post because two nearly identical colors for both characters could be kinda confusing. I hope you don't mind.)
Skios had been chosen by Larquidos to scout in the Ancient Dungeon. He was dropped on the edge of the keeper's territory, and Larquidos spoke to him.
"Ok, let's get this over with. Press forward through the dungeon as you would and I will offer my wisdom or fighting prowess where required. Ignore undead along the way, they're mindless."
Skios saw the mindless skeletons - they didn't look like they were going to act up on his presence, and even if they did, they looked kind of harmless to him.
Skios then felt the presence of the Keeper enter his body. It was unlike anything he ever felt - an amount of power which is truly incomprehensible for just a creature.
Larquidos then commanded him further from within.
Forward.
Skios went forward, into what looked like an old guard room. There was nothing but quietness in the Ancient Dungeon. Skios moved on further. He went into the next room - they looked like the dusty remains of a training room. Still more quietness. Not a single thing was there to be heard, and not a single thing was there to be seen. Everything was perfectly still, as if time had stopped in the room.
Skios looked where to go further. There was a hallway right in front of him, and an opening to another room to his left. Undecided as to where to go next, Skios decided to mentally consult his master's infinite wisdom.
<<Master, where shall I go next?>>
Larquidos twitched the spider's mandibles in what would have been a wry smile at the creature's evident respect.
>>Christopher hadn't the time to think about his direction, and thus would have pursued the most direct route. Continue forward.<<
<<Very well, then.>>
Skios continued to walk forward into the hallway. It was just as lifeless and soulless as the rest of the Ancient Dungeon - there wasn't even a skeleton or ghost around. Skios noticed an opening to the left. He looked in there, but there wasn't anything to see there either. A giant, empty lair room, three times the size of Larquidos' lair, yet totally empty also.
Skios opted to continue down the hallway, however. A couple twists later, he saw the wrecks of a Dungeon Heart in a room, with some more skeletons and some ghosts. They, too, were mindlessly just being there.
Skios slowly entered the destroyed heart chamber. He felt that from here he needed to be careful, as he'd already gotten far into the dungeon. Were there heroes there, they'd be nearby. Skios looked to the left, where he saw an entrance to the treasury... and in the treasury he saw a dwarf standing around. Skios' first instinct was to use Invisibility to cloak himself, and he did that right away. The Dwarf hadn't seen him. Now cloaked, Skios quietly moved to the south part of the Heart Chamber. He mentally consulted his master again.
<<Master. I spotted one of those Heroes, one of those small, puny ones. What should I do with him?>>
>>Scare him. He appears lowly enough to have no backbone - if you terrify him, he should lead us right to their stronghold. Do your best not to reveal your true nature, however.<<
Suddenly, Larquidos felt a rend in his consciousness and a sharp pain in the back of his, or rather Skios', brain. Moments later, he both felt and heard the reverberating echo of the mentor with a decree he was already far too familiar with; his heart was under attack once more.
>>Follow the dwarf as far as you are able, but don't get yourself killed. Return to my territory once you have located the lair of the heroes.<<
Skios wondered what could be going on in the dungeon so soon after they got there, but he didn't have time to extensively think about it. His focus, right now, was that dwarf in front of him. Skios got closer to him, still cloaked and still not noticable by the dwarf. The dwarf really did look as puny as he is small - he looked like he was already close to pissing himself, and he wasn't even aware of his presence yet. Skios was only a couple feet away from him.
"Booo..."
The dwarf shivered. "Wh-wh-wh-wh-...who-who's there-re?"
"I am a ghost... you see, I was that arch--"
The dwarf freaked out as soon as the word "ghost" was mentioned, and ran away right away while shouting:
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, A GHOST, THERE'S A GHOST HERE, WHAAAAAAAAA, I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE ANYMORE, I WANT TO GO TO MY MOMMY AND TO MY DADDY AND TO LORD CHRISTOPHER!!!"
"--er who went to-- Oh, come the hell on, I hardly even started."
Skios started pursuiting the Dwarf, who'd go and lead him to Lord Christopher, intentional or not.
Summary: Skios and the Keeper explored the Ancient Dungeon and found a Dwarf. Keeper was called away, then Skios managed to scare the shit out of the Dwarf while hardly even trying, and is following him to Lord Christopher and the Heroes' Dungeon.

The Black Knight
Vermil|ion
....~
......~The Vnsightly~
...and Ribs, the little man of Crystalbarrow
The Voice of Leech alarmed. His sharp, pointy little teeth chattered within his maw as he was shunted about.
-->This host is worse than Vermillion. I'll be minced.<--
The Leech made his way out whilst the skeleton was distracted rebuilding himself. He leapt across to the Knight with great athleticism and began to suck. He quickly secured himself against the otherwise sheer wall of metal using this suction effect with his mouth, before pushing himself upwards with his tail. He was making for the Black Knight's visor....
_______________________________
Vermillion had been engaging the dummies in the training room when he promptly levelled, reaching Level 5 for the first time ever.
Level 5
http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/6338/invisiblitysmiley.png (http://img256.imageshack.us/i/invisiblitysmiley.png/) Invisibility Unlocked
Whilst he was revelling in his new achievement.....
YOUR DUNGEON HEART IS UNDER ATTACK!
"Awwww, but Vermsy just finished helping to defend it?"
Vermillion checked his Sight ability for some insight, but found his vision obscured by black. He was currently in a memory blackout. He wouldn't remember reaching level 5. More importantly he would have to go and check the incident personally! The rogue whined before engaging Invisibility and setting off.
->They think the can lie to Vermsy to his face? He is no fool. He heard it said this was rare! Vermillion says that no it is not.<-
Vermillion stealthily entered the Heart Chamber just in time to hear dialogue.
"Die."
"OW! That hurt god damn it!"
Vermillion unstealthed near them, but safely outside of striking distance.
"Vermsy inquires, do parden his temporary temporal ignorance, he inquires he does... which of you fine creatures is the enemy?"
The Black Knight pointed her sword towards Ribs in a threatening manner before speaking, "The Skeleton is a traitor and has attacked Lord Larquidos' Dungeon."
Ribs tried to defend himself, "She hit me! She was being mean to me! I complimented her on how she was such a beautiful woman and I offered her the honor of allowing her breasts to be touched by my hands!"
It was just then that the Rogue beheld another being in the room. His eyes narrowed. He was sure that one or both of the creatures answered, but his attention was elsewhere.
->Voicey-Leech, he sees you... He will get vengeance for your torturous acts, he will!<-
Vermillion threw himself at the Black Knight, trying to stab it against the Knight's armour.
"Die, LEECH!"
The Leech squirmed, evading his knife-blows and began panicking. The wretched rogue had come to finish him off!
The Black Knight suddenly pointed her sword at Vermillion's neck.
'I assumed that if I killed the Skeleton, no blood would be spilled," The Black Knight said plainly, then moved the edge of her sword even closer to Vermillion's neck, "However... perhaps I was wrong..."
She took a pause before asking, "Why do you attack me? Are you another traitor of Lord Larquidos'?"
Vermillion paused looking very carefully at the sword next to his neck.
"Do not interfere with Vermillion's business, Knight of Darkness, the Leech it must die for its cri... Vermsy suspectingful of something. You is no man! He thinks this is important and meaningful somehow... though being clueless at the moment he understands not the significance. Hello, he is Vermillion."
Meanwhile, whilst Vermillion was distracted, the Leech climbed frantically towards the Black Knight's eye-slit. It reached its objective. perched for a moment to give a non-verbal maniacal laugh before slithering inside...
The Black Knight stared into Vermillion's eyes for a moment before asking, "Are you stupid?"
Little did anyone realize that Ribs had fully reattached himself. He decided to take advantage of Vermillion's presence by attempting to sneak away into the Casino.
Vermillion was taken aback and exploded to full hieght.
"The Great Verm riles at your insult, he riles greatly..." he paused"Where is his Swimmy-Leech gone? His Leech WILL NOT ESCAPE!!"
Vermillion forgot all about the Black Knight with a sword to his throat and spun around, seeing Ribs sneaking off.
"Where is you taking his brain-leech, skeleton!! Come back or Vermsy will gut you!"
Vermillion ran off after him and dived, attempt to takle him, leaving the Black Knight behind. Something wet and slimy flicked.
It seems as if the Rogue will aid my catching of the Skeleton. Then I shall wait here to ensure that the Skeleton cannot escape.
Ribs, meanwhile, began to panic then ran full speed into the Casino, barely evading Vermillion. Once he entered the Casino, he quickly found a chair and grabbed it, preparing to ambush Vermillion once he entered.
Vermillion ran blindly into the Casino.
"Take this!" Ribs shouted as he hurled the chair towards Vermillion, aiming for his head.
Vermillion collapsed as the chair shattered over his head. Splinters became lodged amongst the yellow feathers of his helmet. The Rogue groaned from the floor.
Ribs ran over to Vermillion in panic.
"Holy crap, I think I killed him!" Ribs yelled as he put his hands on the sides of his head, "Hey! Wake up! I didn't mean to kill you!"
Uh oh... if Larquidos finds out that I killed him... he's going to kill me! What do I do!? ...........I know! I'll throw him into the Prison! Maybe then, he'll turn into a Skeleton and won't actually die! Then I'll be saved!
"Ok Rogue guy, I'm going to bring you over to the Prison and save you by turning you into a Skeleton," Ribs told him.
Vermillion lay motionless and blood trickled out from beneath his helmet.
The Leech cowered in the back of the Black Knight's helmet, not daring to draw attention to himself by trying anything.
Ribs grabbed Vermillion by the legs then began to drag him out of the Casino, while walking backwards. However, he forgot about The Black Knight. Ribs had dragged Vermillion all the way into the Heart Chamber, heading towards The Black Knight.
Did he kill that Rogue?
The Black Knight did not move until Ribs bumped into her, then he jumped, dropping Vermillion's legs onto the ground. He turned around and jumped after taking a glance of the Black Knight, then fell back onto Vermillion.
"Where do you think you're going?" She asked Ribs.
Ribs trembled in terror, "T-To the Prison."
"To hide the body?" The Black Knight asked Ribs, "I do not think so. You shall not pass me, treacherous Skeleton."
Ribs shook violently.
Vermillion mumbled from the brink of unconciousness, "... comfortable mattress... Vexy don't leave him!"
Ribs turned over and looked at Vermillion, "Oh... um... I guess he's not dead..."
Without another moment to spare, The Black Knight pointed her sword at Ribs' neck, "Did you think that you could trick me... with such a foolish act?"
Ribs looked down at the sword. Then he screamed. Like a girl.
*MEMORY BLACKOUT ENDS*
Vermillion sat up.
"Why was he here again?"

Ribs ambushed Vermillion when he chased after him by throwing a chair at his head. He thought he killed him then panicked and tried to drag Vermillion off to the Prison in order to save him by turning him into a Skeleton. He was stopped by The Black Knight, who thought it was a pathetic ruse to get past her. Then Vermillion began to wake.

The Black Knight
Vermil|ion
....~
......~The Vnsightly~
...and Ribs, the little man of Crystalbarrow
"From what I gather," The Black Knight began to explain, "It seems as if the Skeleton knocked you unconscious then tried to drag you off to the Prison, believing he could use you as a way to get past me. It didn't work."
Ribs jumped off of Vermillion then began hiding in the corner, "No! That's not what happened! It was an accident! I didn't mean to kill you when I threw the chair, I just thought it would stun you!"
"Right.... he means how did he get here from the training room? Vermillion was training... also are you a... well now. He welcomes you to Crystalbarrow, Black Knight... is that what you prefer to call yourself?"
"I have no other name," The Black Knight replied, "I do not know of what you did before you got here, all I know is that you came in here asking us of whom the enemy is. I presume you came to defend the Dungeon Heart after this fool of a Skeleton attacked it."
Vermillion raised an eyebrow. "The skeleton who killed Drell?"
Believing that The Black Knight was distracted, Ribs tried to make a run for it and attempted to dash past her.
"Drell?" The Black Knight asked then swung her sword in front of her once Ribs got close, causing him to stumble backwards, "Who is Drell?"
Vermillion looked at her oddly.
"Vermsy didn't now him to well, but he was big, mean and he had a fiery temper. Also he liked the sounds of his bellowing, he did. Also, also, he is now in fact dead."
"...You couldn't possibly be talking about the Dragon that I stepped over not long ago, would you?" The Black Knight asked Vermillion.
"Yes, Vermsy does believe it may well have been."
"How can that be? This Skeleton is pitiful. He possesses no fighting techniques, how can he defeat a powerful Dragon?" The Black Knight questioned.
"I am a strong fighter! Just watch... take this!" Ribs shouted as he prepared his bow then fired an arrow at the Black Knight.
The arrow bounced off of The Black Knight's armor.
"...Rogue. Grab him," The Black Knight commanded.
"No! He may still have hidden magical powers and be trying to lull is into a false sense of security by pretending to be inept..."
Vermillion did a double take, realising that he could always use his hidden magical powers to find out. Vermillion scanned him with Sight.
"Nope, he's clean."
The Rogue looked towards the Black Knight expectantly.
"Oh, right... you want him to grab him... right."
Vermillion lunged.
"Ah! Nooo!" Ribs screamed, "I have insurance damn you!"
Ribs tried to pull out an arrow to shoot Vermillion before he reached him but was far too slow.
Vermillion grabbed him.
Ribs kicked and screamed.
Vermillion got kicked and yelled at, but unsure what else to do, dragged the skeleton over to the Knight and deposited him.
The Black Knight sheathed her sword then grabbed Ribs with both her hands. She pulled on his head until it was detached from its body. Then she turned over to Vermillion.
"Now we simply must wait for Lord Larquidos to return in order to deal with this traitor," The Black Knight told Vermillion, "I must wait here to guard the Dungeon Heart. You may go or you may stay. I care not, for your services are no longer needed."
"...Hey, I heard it was Payday! Can I go to collect my Pay?" Ribs asked The Black Knight.
"No," The Black Knight replied.
Vermillion vaguely decided to stay and decided to make light of the situation with some conversation. Ribs appeared to be a skeleton. Vermillion liked skeletons.
"So you're a skeleton, huh? Vermsy knew some skeletons. His brother was a skeleton, but the wizards killed him, they did. Very sad."
"So if your brother was a Skeleton... does that mean you're a Skeleton too? I guess that makes us cousins!" Ribs told Vermillion, "Family has to help each other out once in a while, am I right? Maybe you should help me escape from this Black Knight! She's a woman and I thought women were supposed to be weak and frail yet hot and sexy but she doesn't seem to have any of that... though I'd like to see her without her armor to confirm that last part..."
"If you wish to further annoy me with your sexism, then I will not wait until Lord Larquidos returns and instead will simply crush your skull right here and now," The Black Knight told Ribs, clearly annoyed as she used a more darker and stricter tone than usual.
Ribs attempted to gulp but it didn't seem to work quite right.
"Vermillion knows, of course, but he won't tell. He doesn't like pain, if he can help it. So Vermsy hears you're leaving the dungeon?"
"I never said that! ...I think..." Ribs became confused, "...though I might consider it. I don't know if I like this place very much. I need more beautiful women. The first woman I met was a Spider and the second one I met prefers to hold my head rather than my heart. And Larquidos is cheap! I want more money damn it! Plus, being famous here is kind of sucky. I killed a Dragon and then a Spider gets chosen over me for venturing onward into ancient dungeons. I wanted to go! So that's why I shot Larquidos' heart."
Vermillion was enjoying rubbing shoulders with the hero of the moment... or villain maybe.
"Verms knows how that feels, he looked at the ice-witch the wrong way and before he knew it, everything had it in for him. The story of his life, actually. If he didn't know better, he would think it was all the work of some external malignant power at work that had it in for him - aside from Voicey, of course. Good thing, Vermillion does know better. Ludicrous idea really, he feels. It does take a big man to fight back and make his displeasure felt. Good for you, Vermsy says."
"Which ice witch are you talking about?" Ribs asked Vermillion in confusion, "I've never heard about ice witches!"
The Black Knight, meanwhile, had shut her eyes as she tried to ignore or at least tolerate the conversation. She honestly wanted them both to shut up so that she may wait for Larquidos in silence. At the same time, she was learning more about both Ribs and Vermillion the more they talked. And, despite being very anti-social, The Black Knight knew that it was important to know where her allies stand. Being ignorant to such information... could prove disastrous...
"She was a sorcerer of great power, beauty and irritableness who had it in for him since the first day at his first day at the last dungeon. Looking back on it with perfect 100/20 Hindsight he may have been spying on her, but he was perfectly justified and it was for the best of reasons, he knows! If you thought you had wandered into an enemy dungeon what else was a loyal minion to do, you know? Vervex... erhh, Vermillion was simply doing his job is all."
"So... she was hot? That's awesome! Maybe I could visit that dungeon sometime! I need to look at a better woman sometime!" Ribs shouted, excited, "...wait you were spying on her? Are you a stalker? Can you teach me how to stalk efficiently? Also, what do you mean by 100/20 Hindsight?"
Patience... do not... squeeze fist... and crack skull...
"Odd expression he learnt from a book, somewhere, sometime. 20 is what humans like him see with, but this Rogue never looks to the past in anything other than 'High Definition'...." the Rogue paused quizzically as if trying to make sense of something in his head, but quickly continued, "Indeed, Vermillion's last Keeper certainly enjoyed observing and carousing with them in the Casino. They weren't quite as happy with the situation, hethinks. Also, Vermsy wasn't an unqualified success gathering intel on the enemy's researchers. He was iced, people laughed, he was unhappy."
"Look to the past? Like a Link to the Past? Wait... You can see into the past? Can you tell me who I was before I became a Skeleton and who I worked for and what I ate that morning before I got imprisoned?" Ribs asked Vermillion.
"He doesn't usually do this without being just a little bit cryptic, doesn't feel right otherwise Vermillion is somewhat vaguely adament. Don't expect anything else from the Rogue..." who thought back to his uncle Hector and his plams became wet with the lucrative thought, "unless you're a paying client, of course. Ribs was an Archer and he didn't eat... the hungry thief stole his lunch."
"Holy crap, you're right!" Ribs shouted with excitement, "What other tricks can you do?"
Vermillion preened himself.
"He can eat rats and pick locks, and once he even broke out of a torture chamber, Vermsy he did. Also he can steal things with his mad Rogue fingers, why do you think he is so rich?"
Before Ribs could speak, The Black Knight began to talk in a rather aggressive tone, "Silence, both of you."
Ribs' eyes looked up at the Black Knight in fear.
Vermillion shrugged and began working some dried out blood from between his teeth.
"It will be some time before Larquidos returns and gets angry at everyone for incompetance and failing in their duties, Vermsy knows this, how else intend you to spend that time?"
The Rogue replied peevishly.
"By waiting," was the Black Knight's simple response.
The Black Knight did not like to wait. Even so, she did not complain much to anyone, not even herself, about having to wait. Afterall, complaining would yield her nothing in return.
Vermillion absent-mindedly began humming.
The Black Knight sighed.

She became very surprised that Ribs killed Drell, as he is very weak. Ribs tried to prove otherwise by shooting an arrow at her, but it bounced off her armor. She commanded Vermillion to grab him, and he did so. The Black Knight then pulled Ribs' head off and held it in one hand and his body in the other while waiting for Larquidos.
Ribs began talking to Vermillion for a while about various things. The Black Knight tolerated it for a while before she told them to both be silent.

Larquidos felt extraordinarily strange as his consciousness expanded one thousandfold to one again encompass all lands bound to his power, which he believed was considerable. It took him a few moments to readjust to this form, and he tracked the movements of the spider he had occupied but a moment before for a time.
Of course, there were more pressing matters at hand.
Focusing his complete attention on his heart chamber, he came to note that it was occupied by his new minion, The Black Knight, and two others. Granting the positions of the minions, he immediately came to have an understanding of the situation, for no enemy bodies were nearby.
The first individual in the chamber he noted after the knight was the rogue which he had initially favored but had quickly proven itself an inept fool.
The second was the skeleton who had previously landed a sword in his heart. An arrow, which Larquidos now noted was of the same make as those lodged in the ribcage of the skeleton, was buried to the feathers in his heart.
His voice boomed, addressing each minion in turn. "Never before have I been cursed with a minion insolent enough to harm me, Ribs. Never before have I been so slighted as to be taken for such a fool. Never before has a minion confused me so.
Vermillion! You could have made something of yourself. You entered my realm, impressed me. You had my favor. But you ran from Drell, like a coward, and MORE THAN ONCE. I can scarcely comprehend how you could turn such a good thing into naught but a tragedy. Now, Vermillion, I nothing you. You are a nobody. You burden my realm with your insanity. You do my favor injustice! You insult me with your feeble bladder!
But Black Knight... you are the greatest mystery of all. You have made me care again, for in the sea of fools, you came to me and subdued these two idiots!" Larquidos temporarily invaded the minds of both Ribs and Vermillion to force them to smash their heads on the floor. "Black Knight, let Vermillion go. He may be an idiot and a coward, but he has not harmed me. Please, beat Rib within an inch of his life. Ribs, Vermillion, you have both forfeited your pay. Black Knight, collect the paychecks of both these idiots as well as your own."
Bah, if I could have just a few more like her and a half a dozen less like Ribs, I might catch Christopher before he dies of natural causes.

Vermillion knew it was going to happen, that he would be punished and yelled at despite the fact it wasn't his fault. He also knew it would have happened anyway eventually had he left promptly... and that it would have been much worse. That didn't make it hurt any less or make him any happier aftewards.
It did, however, give him time to anticipate it and being to take action to counteract it. The Rogue with the phobia of pain went to his 'Zen' place. Cold dungeon breeze whistled through sturdy prison bars, causing torches to flicker. Skeletal jaws clacked sharply around him, comforting him, reassuring him.
->He breaths in, wobbles his head, ignores the pain, expels...<-
The Rogue belched.
Not as part of the excerise, just an unfortunate expulsion which happened to coincide. Nonetheless, the excerise helped somewhat. Vermillion was ecstatic, and still in quite a bit of pain, but ecstatic nonetheless.
->Wow, magicky book... you do work, he proclaims! Better than a patented Grubb-brand rat-skewer! Vermsy hails the magic book!<-
The mad rogue of Crystalbarrow siddled out, withdrawing the book Self-Improvement for Minions from his satchel. Vermillion was just about to flick over to page twelve, when his sight twinged with a familiar and unwelcome presence. Leech.
"Ha, hah! Verms has you know squiggly-squirmy voice! You can evade him no longer!"
He ran back into the room and dived to the floor, after the black slimey creature which had just registered him leaving and vacated the Black Knight's helmet making a bid for freedom.
Vermillion scooped it up, cackling like an old witch on laughing gas.
"He has you now, Voice-in-his-Head! Think you can get away from him? Not likely. He watches you like a starving rat watches the toes of the unwary, he does. Remember the torments the insults that you have heaped on him, Voicey old pal? Guess what? Vermillion gonna get himself some damn PAYBACKSIES!"
The crazy rogue dangled it in front of his face as he addressed it.
Vermillion trotted off through the dungeon, squirming leech brought unwillingly along for the ride.
"Oui, nephew!"
Vermillion only caught the voice because he was flittering through the past, as the speaker in turn knew he would be.
"What, Iceport-man!?"
"When you do kill that sucker, remember to make sure its dead. True?"
"Why is you telling him this?"
"Because I foresaw that I would, why else? Oh and your grandfather says hel..."
Vermillion cut him off, shifting focus, eager to be back to his buisness of sweet revenge.

Rob turned sharply at the announce of the Dungeon Heart being attacked, his teeth gritting. He starts running to the Dungeon Heart, his stomps nearly making it audible to all the other creatures in the Dungeon. It truly wasn't long till Rob arrived at the Dungeon Heart. He looked at The Black Knight who was holding both Vermillion and Ribs. He heard the booming voice of Larquidos speak to the group of three, Rob stood there, his arms crossed as his hulking axe of pure death was sheathed onto his back. Once Laquidos finished speaking, Rob spoke up, which is rare of his manner.
"I disliked waiting Larquidos. Idleness does not agree with me and Guarding tests my patience," Rob spoke, his voice as raspy and deep like always, "Give me orders, or my service here be done."

The Black Knight
...and Ribs, the little man of Crystalbarrow
"Black Knight, let Vermillion go. He may be an idiot and a coward, but he has not harmed me. Please, beat Rib within an inch of his life. Ribs, Vermillion, you have both forfeited your pay. Black Knight, collect the paychecks of both these idiots as well as your own."
"As you wish, Lord Larquidos," The Black Knight replied within her usual cold voice, "While I do... appreciate your reward... I must tell you that Gold does not hold high value with me. If you seek to truly award and please me, I would ask of you to bring me to battle where I can crush the skulls of your foes and satisfy my lust for battle. Nevertheless, I will do as you have ordered and break this pathetic Skeleton's body and destroy his ego along with it."
"Worry not about your Dungeon Heart while you are away, Lord Larquidos," The Black Knight added, "I will check it regularly while I train and slaughter any fool who dares attempt to bring harm to it."
The Black Knight let go of Vermillion, allowing him to go off on his own. Ribs, however, was not so fortunate. The Black Knight slammed Ribs' body into the wall, then onto the ground. She unsheathed her almighty Great Sword then struck Ribs' body several times. She slammed her sword on Ribs' left ankle, detaching his foot from him. She then threw a mighty blow towards Ribs' right shoulder, cutting his arm off. She finished by thrusting her sword into the ground, cutting through Ribs' spine. The Black Knight kept a tight grip on Ribs and forced him to watch her as she destroyed his body.
"Listen to me, Skeleton. Should you ever even think of doing something so stupid again..." The Black Knight then put her foot on Ribs'... ribs before she stepped down on them, causing them to break, "...it will be your skull under my foot... Do I make myself clear?"
Ribs was silent. Dead silent. The Black Knight took the normally loudmouthed Skeleton's silence as a form of obedience and understanding. She chucked Ribs' head out of the Heart Chamber and into the hallway.
Afterwards, the Black Knight continued on her way, passing by Ribs as she went. She headed straight for the Training Room. Since it was on the way, the Black Knight picked up 200 Gold. She did not lie when she meant that Gold held little value to her. For if the Treasury were not on the way to the Training Room, she wouldn't even bother with the Gold until Larquidos returned. She didn't even care to pick up much Gold in the first place despite having the combined Pay of three Creatures.
Once she entered the Training Room, the Black Knight continued where she left off.
Ribs, however, was still sitting in the interception between the Dungeon Heart, Lair, Treasury, and Portal. He remained there for a long while, doing nothing but stare in the same direction. Ribs did not feel very well at all. He had come to realize a very bleak reality. He was not immortal. He was no God, he was just a useless Skeleton. He never was very well liked or competent in his past life. He had hoped that he could make something good with this life now that he stood on the opposite side, but it seemed he remained out of use.
Feeling unwanted, Ribs summoned his right hand. It felt like a very difficult thing to do, considering the injuries his body had suffered, but Ribs managed to do it. His hand then grabbed his skull firmly.
...The good thing about being unwanted is that you're not missed when you leave.
Without waiting another moment, Ribs' hand tossed his skull towards the Portal. Ribs soared through the air then fell into the Portal.

Vermillion threw the leech to the floor in the Torture Chamber, and bought his foot down. THe Voice of Leech flinched. SQUISH.
"How does you like that, then LEECH? Vermsy victories over the forces of Voicey, all hail the Verm el Grande!"
The rogue sat himself down next to the little puddle of Leech soup, absent-mindedly stirring it with his finger.
His time in Crystalbarrow had been far too eventful for Vermillion's tastes. Fire-breathing dragons? Pain? People who loved ordering him around? Now that Vermillion knew for certain that Crystice had left Northland, that was looking to be a far more attractive proposition.
Vermillion headed for the portal. He was going home.
Before he left, however, he accidently stepped in part of Ribs. The Rogue decided to take one of Ribs's hands as a momento. The Skeleton wouldn't be using it any longer. He also nicked to book he had taken from the Library, Self Improvement for Minions. Afterall, it was the right of employee's leaving any workplace to nick stuff, wasn't it? Regardless he was a Rogue.
"Poor Ribs... what will he do without his ribcage?"

The rouge grabbed the last piece of stone before hiking himself up into the new dungeon.
A rogue has entered you dungeon!
Still hate this fraction designation. Why not simply Mercenary?
Ryan ruffled through his blach hair. But without wasting any more time, he left the portal room. With a glimpse to his left he saw the heart chamber. He made on step in it's direction and said with his cold voice: "Keeper."
Then he turned around and walked over to the lair he spotted before. He knew how stupid it was to walk directly to the heart chamber to introduce himself, the keeper would notice him anyways.
Ryan didn't spent much time at making his lair, within two minutes he was already in the hallway again. This time he walked in the direction he didn't bother with the first time. After he found himself in a treasury, the merc entered a huge training room.
Nice
After he armed himself with his shortsword and already started with his first maneuver, he noticed a black knight, standing not far away from hum. It looked like the knight noticed Ryan, the merc simply nodded and dismissed his ally afterwards.

The Black Knight
The Black Knight was still training with complete focus. She hit the Training Dummy several times, then thrusted her blade into the head of the dummy. She struck the dummy right between the eyes with dead on accuracy. She felt her skills were improving from this training.
Now would be a good time to check up on the Dungeon Heart.
The Black Knight then left the Training Room and found herself in the hallway that led to the Dungeon Heart not long after. She spot a Black Knight, Rob, and a Vampire, Valimar Fell, who both appeared to be locked in an endless stare. The Black Knight studied them for a moment. Although there was a bit of cold hearted aggression within their stares, they did not appear to show pure hostility towards each other. At least, not yet.

Ryan continued with his training, but after he had shot all of his bolts, he just moved over to the dummy and leaned himself against it. Just gazing into the direction of a hallway with an empty room behind it.
Hm.
He turned around and drawed his bolts out of the dummy. After he had all of them, he made his way back to the lair. Ryan wasn't sure where he could find the hatchery, so he tried the door in the south. Relieved that he found his goal, he grabbed himself a chicken and then left the room. Without even to think active about it, he broke the neck of the chicken and walked back into the treasury. Still holding the dead creature in his hands he moved through the training room, coughing for a moment. At the moment he entered the empty room, he noticed amused, that his imaginings about this realm were true; it was indeed a hot place.
Guess I found the best possible place for me. At least in this environment.
The merc made his way over to a bridge, which was leading over the lava. It looked long and surely wouldn't end somewhere in the keepers domain. With that in his thoughts he followed the bridge for thirty steps, before he sat down. The merc speared the chicken with his shortsword, before he held it over the hot lava. After some minutes he turned it around, roasted it from the other side. When Ryan thought it was finished, he withdrew his sword and grabbed the chicken.
While he was holding it with his left hand and slowly consuming it, he took a scroll out of his quivers. He rolled it out, while his glimpse rambled over the words.
Great. It seems like I really need help from this scum...

Necrotyc awoke, his bones creaking as they moved after a significant time inactive. He noticed that he was standing in his lair, upright as any skeleton would be. All his bones were in the right place - even the ones which had previously been snapped by a particularly vicious demon spawn. His skull, which had suffered a large crack, was healed entirely.
Satisfied with his health, Necrotyc moved to the training room and began to assault dummies with precise swings, blocking the momentum this caused on the dummies with his shield.
________________
Larquidos watched his dungeon carefully as its inhabitants went about their business. He was in a slight predicament in that two of his most favored minions (which said a lot, given his loathing for most of them) wanted to fight - one asked for payment in the form of combat and the other seemed aggravated about the lull in bloodshed.
He decided to fix the problem; exhausting all gold in his treasury, he reconstructed a small hole in the northwest corner of his charred, ashy combat pit. He promptly dropped Rob and The Black Knight in the pit.
"Fight on your own terms, but take care not to kill each other."
It was only then that Larquidos registered that there had been another creature in his heart chamber; a vampire.
"Greetings, rotten one. It would be nice to see the corpses of the slain put to good use. Please, make yourself useful - train, research, what have you. But don't loiter."
Shortly after, a rogue entered his dungeon. He was not pleased; the efforts of Vergil and Vermillion had certainly tainted him on the worth of the species. He was tempted to set Ryan to work digging graves as soon as he greeted him, but the rogue showed initiative in training and so he let him continue. He did not speak to the rogue, but faintly probed his mind in lieu of a formal greeting, acknowledging his presence but not deeming him worth his time. As such, he did not notice when the rogue went south to cook his chicken and read - an act he certainly would have punished him for.
Larquidos then turned his attentions to the Ancient Dungeon to the south and slowly followed the progress of the imp claiming a path through the dungeon...

Krua had been resting in the lair for quite a while, by now. Her brother wasn't around, as he had been tasked to explore the ancient dungeon. There were many creatures around in the lair, many of which she didn't know, nor was she interested in knowing them. She felt uncomfortable being between the oddball creatures around her - such as the freak skeleton who wanted to marry her. Krua walked out of the room.
She went on towards the training room. Along the way she saw more creatures minding their own business. Krua didn't pay much attention to them, and simply moved on. The other creatures, and her surroundings, felt like a blur to her. She saw nothing but her empty path forward, until she entered the training room. Again, there were more creatures around, but she didn't even notice them. She saw one goal before her, which was the training dummy that was right in front of her. Everything else looked like a big blur, and she couldn't make anything out of it. She didn't hear anything around her but incomprehensible noise either. She was alone, in an isolated world, and she hardly felt the presence of the others around.
Krua focused. Her mind gathered energy from her surroundings. This energy turned into a bright blue glowing energy sphere, and it grew larger and brighter. A couple seconds later, the sphere was released forward, right towards the unsuspecting training dummy. In the process, Krua released a war cry.
"HYAAH!"
Next thing anybody would know, the training dummy was stuck in a large cube of ice. While the ice cube was slowly melting, it was still effective to keep the training dummy in a coat of hard ice for a significant amount of time. Krua looked up at the ice-coated training dummy. After almost a minute of just standing there, she decided to leave the room, going south, to the empty room bordering the magma lake. She moved to the northeast corner of the room.
There, Krua sat down, in a position vaguely resembling a lotus position, except with more legs. She cast a shroud of invisibility upon herself, as she didn't need any interference from the outside world. Krua shut her eyes. She entered a hypnotized, trance-like state as impossibly countable thoughts flashed through her mind, many of which were blurred, unreadable messes. She did feel the presence of her brother Skios was somewhat closer than before, though still very far away. With a very faint and barely hearable voice, she spoke some words.
"Brother... please return safely..."
After that, she remained quiet. She remained in her trance-like state, and was hardly aware of the world around her.
LEVEL UP!!
Wait, what do you mean I'm late? And why is nobody hearing me? Hellloooooo!! Why isn't anybody hearing me? I'm stating important facts here! Ah, screw it. You bunch of wankers...

Valimar Fell then decided to take some rest to recharge his energy and walked straight to the Lair.
Upon arriving in the Lair Valimar Fell conjured up his home; a coffin. But before he wanted to open and enter it he heard something in the Combat Pit that is next to the Lair. Intrigued, he entered the room in question. In the pit Valimar saw two familiar faces in the form of Rob and the Black Knight that he ‘met’ earlier. Eager for some action show, he decided to stay and watch.

And yet even after hours of training Ryan still felt awkward with it. Though this may work for others, he couldn't really get anything out of this, if he just fights with motionless dummies. Frustrated the merc recovered his bolts from the dummies before he adjusted his dark armor.
Hey, if dark knights are here, then this keeper must have an arena... combat pit... whatever. Even watching fights would be more useful than this.
With fast steps he made his way back to the treasury and returned into the lair. Unlike in the training room it was easier for him to focus his thoghts now. He made his way to the entrance without a door and again he found his target instantly.
Nice to know I won't have problems with this dungeons geography.
However, not much of the combat pit was left, but the part that was intact was already under use by two dark knights. A vampire seemed to be all of their audience. Since Ryan was sick of the boring training room and would surely enjoy watching some action and having a conversation, he moved foreward. Ryan stepped aside the vampire and crossed his arms. With a confident smile he looked over to his ally.
"Hey there, comrade! Looks like I'm not too late for the show... By the way, do you know some... "
Suddenly the scroll he read some time before fell out of his sleeve. With an annoyed look on his face he stepped on it and pulled it near himself. He picked it up and crossed his arms again, holding the scroll in his left hand now.
"Sorry. Should've left that garbage at my lair."

Fate did not grant Valimar Fell a moment of himself, for he was disturbed by a someone, a rogue of all possible Creatures! It seems that the Dark Gods have a sense of humor, but Valimar Fell himself was not amused, far from it, for he loathed rogues badly.

Dranton and Xerina
[Drell's Battle]
While the dragon was heading toward the keeper's Dungeon Heart, Dranton was still covering in fear after witnessing his power. Xerina reloaded her crossbow and observed the Dragon as it went west.
"Where shalt I shoot?", Xerina thought, "My bolts art too weak to pierce it's skin. I need to think of something fast! Shalt I get my personal Freeze Trap from the Workshop? It should hath been finished by now... No, that did not seem to work for long even when the regular trap was used. What else is there to try?", Xerina thought as she observed the Dragon, "It's wings... They art it's weakest part. But what good would come from shooting those...? Perhaps... If I manage to pin them to nearby walls, I could limit it's movements!"
Unfortunatelly, just as Xerina lifted her crossbow, the Dragon unleashed his Word of Power again to get rid of the creatures who were trying to slow him down. While Xerina did observe from rather far away, she still got knocked down from the impact, which made her reflexively shoot her bolt into the ceiling.
"Damn be thee!", Xerina pouted to herself.
By the time she got back on her feet and reloaded her crossbow, the dragon was already in Dungeon Heart chamber.
"What shalt I do now? Pinning the dragon down now would do no good, as it hath already reached the Dungeon Heart.", Xerina pondered, "I am also running low on bolts. Hmm...".
Xerina had a hard time concentrating, tho, as Dranton shouted and screamed near her the whole time. But then it hit her...
"Wait... Perhaps... That beetle...", Xerina thought as she headed toward Dranton, "I racall it possessing regeneration similar to that of the dragon. With that and it's thick shell... Perhaps we could at least buy us some more time.".
Xerina took the bolt out of her crossbow and put the crossbow away as she walked toward the panicking beetle.
"Calm thyself, beetle!", Xerina shouted as she grabbed Dranton, "Art thou willing to simply sit back while the Keeper gets slaughtered!? Stop thy wining and be a REAL minion instead of a wimp!".
"But... but...", Dranton insecurely replied, "The flames... The heat... The dragon... They're... they're...".
"Look at me, beetle!", Xerina responded, even louder than last time, "Dost thou think that I hath not felt pain from the flames!? Dost thou think that these bandages are merely for decoration!? But I hath NOT given up! I still go on! I refuse to simply give up!", she shouted as her grip on Dranton tightened and she started to shake him.
About that time the Keeper's scream of pain echoed throughout the realm. Larquidos have taken the first hit. The end seemed inevitable.
"Oh, the Dark Gods! You have truly abandoned us!", Dranton shouted as he plumeted into despair even more.
"Art thou a man or a mouse!? If something is not done soon, all will be lost!", Xerina shouted as she continued her attempts to calm the beetle.
But it was no use. Dranton's fears have consumed him and he could not be brought back. Xerina continued her attempts to get Dranton back into the fight, but it was only after Drell's defeat was announced that Dranton was able to filnally calm down.
"We... We won...?", Dranton mumbled in shock, "We won! We survived! Long live the Master Larquidos!", Dranton shouted, overjoyed with the news of the victory.
Xerina finally let him go and turned away.
"Thou art worthless. Thou disgust me.", Xerina told Dranton as she walked to her lair, so she could finally get some rest.
Xerina's words have hurt Dranton more that any attacks which Drell unleashed on him. He simply stood there, motionless. Was he truly worthless? Is he really a disapointment to his Master? His head slowly tilted toward the ground. He have failed his master. He truly was a dissapointment. But... If he works hard from now on... If he could prove himself and his loyalty again... Perhaps there was still hope. He refused to believe he is a waste of space. He believed he could indeed make up for his cowardice this time. There will be other battles. There will be other chances to shine. But first... He needed a long rest to gather his strength again. He have never felt this weak before. He slowly headed toward his lair.
By the time he reached the Lair, Xerina was already asleep. He curled up in his Lair and tried to forget this battle ever happened, until he finally managed to fall asleep.
[/Drell's Battle]
Exhausted from the previous battle, both Dranton and Xerina were sound asleep by the time Larquidos requested a possession volunteer and while the payday was announced, completely missing both events.
--Summary: During the battle with Drell (about 10 pages ago) Xerina wasted her time trying to calm down the panicking Dranton until Drell's eventual defeat by the other minions. After that, both Xerina and Dranton went to get some rest and have been asleep ever since.

Ryan & Pel
"Silence, or I will rip out your tongue."
Ryan grinned derisive and just shot an "Impressive" back, while dismissing the vampires presence.
Looks like I don't need this pseud behavior here. Nice to know.
Without any effort Pel finally made it out of the abyss and found himself in the well-known room which represented a portal chamber. He slowly adjusted his red armor, while putting on his most common mien; raised head, a wide grin and an amused look in his eyes.
Finally made it. Things will be much more exciting now!
It wasn't hard for him to find the keepers heart chamber due to the hearts slow beats. They were nearly infrasonic, but Pel hadn't any problems with that. In front of the keepers heart he made a slow obeisance before raising his voice.
"Keeper. It's nice to meet you personally and swear my leadership to someone like you. I already heard about you over some of my... sources. You don't have to care about me at all, I'll follow on your commands and everything I'll do aside from that will exert to your goals. Believe me; I'll try to aid you in every situation as good as I can and in every possible needed way. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll try to get familiar with your dungeon to be able to assist you on the best possible way."
While speaking his thoughts reflected the actual meaning of the words though his coaxing expression was perfect and would choke off every suspect.
Keeper. I don't care who you are, though I'm informed about you. Leave me alone so I can strike my deals. I'll get the hell out of here when it becomes too dangerous. Now look away while I'm starting to get rich.
Pel then made his way over to the lair and was satisfied with the large amount of beds which certainly looked like they were from humans. But then one sloppy made lair crossed his view.
Looks like he's here? That'll be fun!
Pel now hurried up and made his own lair in the left corner of the room, tried to make it look as inconspicuous as possible. After he thought that it was finished, he made his way back to the hallway leading to the portal. With his head bowed he walked through a treasury filled with gold he'd get by one way or another. Trying to continue with his inconspicuous behavior he entered a training room. Pel still wanted to get some information about the dungeon before doing anything, so he left the room to the east. Unfortunately he only found a worthless library, so he walked back and left the training area this time through the west.
There it is!
He thought after entering a guard room. Pel walked to the table in the middle of the room and pulled out an empty scroll as well as an inkwell and a feather. It didn't take him that long to copying the map in a somewhat exactable state. Satisfied he put his stuff away and walked back over to the training room. Pel wasn't sure if the keeper was watching him, but it was safer to stay inconspicuous for some time before beginning with his work. So all he did was training for now, but knowing of Ryan’s presence he already had other plans in his mind…
After the black knights still didn't attempt to do something, Ryan's biol. facial features turned dark, his eyes narrowed to slits and his mouth corner winced. After baring his teeth he turned around and left the room, though leaving some words in the air before.
"Waste of time. Waste of air talking with that thing. Waste of my presence being here."
Back at his lair he just dropped on his bed, noticed a new one in a corner before shutting his eyes and falling into a light sleep, both hands on his weapons.

Ryan & Pel
Without moving even a little bit, Ryan's eyes opened up wide following of a frantic glimpse around the room. His hearth pumped as fast as he checked his surroundings, before it begun to return to its normal pace. Ryan waited a few seconds longer before he finally got up and left his bed.
The paranoia is in bloom...
The merc stretched himself before he made his way back to the hallway leading to the training room. He would still prefer having a proper arena fight, but he had to do something. But this something hadn't have to be train again. Instead of this he walked into the hatchery and from there right to the next room. He smiled as he saw dozens of bookshelves.
Researching, eh? Well, better books are a better company then those ugly dummies anyways.
He didn't quite knew what exactly the Keeper wanted researched, but after he stepped into the room he spotted a few books lying on the floor. Without hesitation the merc walked up to them and picked one up.
The heal spell? Quite boring, but whatever...
Still carefully looking at the nearby hallways Pel continued to hit the dummy in front of him. Since this kind of training couldn't hurt him anyways he didn't have to do this carefully, he could be as detached as he wanted.
Hm, should I avoid confrontation or should I risk it now? Not that he could do much anyways...
Though Pel had no attention in rushing things, it would be good for him to see a human face again. The rouge was still undecided, so he just continued with his training, still thinking about the best way to approach his target.
Luckily Ryan was a quick reader, so he nearly finished two books before he finally got up, really enervated.
Next time I come here I can hopefully read something more exciting... hopefully this spell is researched by now, don't know how much time my predecessors invested in this.
The merc got up and made his way out of the silent library and entered the noisy training room. And then he spotted him. Without any hesitation Ryan drew his crossbow and aimed for the rouge ten steps away.
"You!"
Pel saw the door moving, saw another rouge entering and saw him drew his weapon. Despite of all his carefulness Ryan still found him too soon.
Well that's unfortunate.
Pel's glimpse lay on the other rouge the entire time, as he approached him he tried to calm down like always before he made himself ready for an important conversation.
"Hey there, long time not seen!"
Ryan's lips formed a dark grin.
"Don't even try this. And now, more importantly..." The merc made another step towards Pel and pressed the crossbow against his chest, the loaded bolt scratching his armor. "Why are you here? You're following me?"
His counterpart didn't move at all, but his mien became even more amused than it seemed before.
"Let's say I know from my sources that you want to know certain things, things I have the answer to."
"Ah yes. Really?"
"You know me. I'm not fooling around with you."
"And what do you get from this?"
"This we can discuss if we can talk civilized and put our weapons away."

Ryan & Pel
Ryan gave his counterpart a contemptuous glimpse before lowering his crossbow, though he still held it in his hand.
“Now talk before I rethink this entire thing.”
Pel smirked again and looked over to the orc who was completely ignoring the situation. Though Ryan couldn’t tell what exactly he was thinking, his condescending look told him everything.
Bastard’s still a racist…
A few seconds later the rogue stretched himself before turning away and laughing.
“We both know that you won’t kill me.” He looked over his shoulder before he continued. “Of course you would be able to do it but we both know that you’re not stupid enough to kill someone you need.”
Ryan didn’t move, nor said he anything. It was clear that Pel could really know something, but the merc had no desire in showing his thoughts. And alone that he was able to find him was evidence enough that Pel could be more dangerous than Ryan thought, so he decided to keep his distance for the moment.
“I’ll deal with you later.”
Ryan holstered his weapon and made his way out of the training room with slow and confident steps; though he tried to look superior he couldn’t resist ramming his shoulder into Pel as he passed him. Ignoring the struggling rogue Ryan left the room and added in an amused tone: “Don’t try to follow me.”
“You should be careful next time, you could hurt yourself.” Shouted Pel before Ryan got out of his reach. He looked as the merc made his way through the guard room, his hand lying on his sword. Only after Ryan was out of sight Pel started to relax a little bit.
Well, that worked better than I expected. At least he’s not completely hostile… though I should better prepare myself if things get out of control…
With that in mind Pel draw his weapons and moved to a spot where he could overview all the entrances his target could take back into this room. Then he started to train again, harder and more dogged than before. If it would come to a serious confrontation, he would have the upper hand.
After crossing the bridge Ryan took a quick look over his shoulder to make sure no one followed him. A brief moment later he stopped and continued his way. Though he had no idea where this way would lead him he was sure that there shouldn’t be a problem as long as he remained in his Keepers borders. It was a nice change to not having anything to do, even if all the tasks he performed earlier in this dungeon were more or less self-initiative since the Keeper hasn’t addressed him yet. Not that he’d complain about that, he preferred to be left alone if a conversation was just about the sake of formality. Unfortunately that was the only language Pel knew if someone wasn’t an obvious enemy to him.
One of the main reasons I hoped I’d never see him again. How the hell was he even able to track me down and that in the exact same time I’d need someone who has sources like him? Guess I wasn’t careful enough, was only a matter of time until I run into someone Pel knows. Still, no one should be able to know what I want. Never mentioned anything anyways…
Ryan stopped directly as he entered a hallway laid his hand on his forehead. As much as he hated headaches, now wasn’t the time for him to rest. Pel’s presence could either be an advantage or a warning sign. Either way, Ryan needed to get better in combat anyways and if Pel would really provide the info he needed he’d most likely have to fight anyways so it was better to get ready now than later. At the first branch he looked around and was pleased to find a second training room. This was much better than his initial plan which would’ve been even more useless than hitting motionless training dummies.
Some things never change Ryan thought and took his crossbow. Not even a second later the first bolt was on its way.
Exhausted Pale stopped for a moment to regain his breath. His hard training seemed to pay off, since he nearly got one level better than before. At least it felt that way.
Don’t know if I even need this… Maybe I’m able to finish this right now, no games, no waiting, and no stupid training.
Once again he pulled the copied map out and looked at the second dungeon, the place where Ryan presumably went. As soon as the training room crossed his glimpse there was no question to where Ryan headed.
And hey, there’s even a portal for a quick escape! Hope this is worth it. Though I may have to make up an excuse for going there, if things don’t go like planned. For all I know someone could be following me… Hmm. Great, there’s nothing unique there! But I could talk to Ryan if I can’t get him there. Hey, this could be easily turned into a failsafe plan! Though that all depends now on my powers of persuasion and if I can deliver this good enough.
He looked up and smirked again.
Of course I can!
After some time of training Ryan lowered his right arm with the crossbow, as well as the left one with his shortsword. He just stood there for a moment, looking at the prison next to the training room. After a moment he stretched himself and returned to his task.

Martheal l Ryan & Pel
Pel put the map away again and stood up. He needed a brief moment to groom his armor, before he walked over to the orc. He tried to look convenient and kept the words he needed in mind since this was pretty much the only way he could get a good excuse and a backup plan if things didn’t go well.
“Hey there. I’m sure we haven’t met yet, so let me introduce myself; I’m Pel. Sorry about the turmoil earlier, but my friend was rather angry that I came here to help him with some of his problems. He doesn’t really like help so he flipped out, but I’m sure this was a one-time incident. But now I’ve asked myself why do we train here if this Keeper obviously owns a combat pit? I’m sure my friend would be in and you don’t even have to ask me about that, but it would be even more useful if we all three try to get a bit real experience down there. So can I count you in my friend?”
Marteal stops training and stares blankly at Pel for a few seconds. Finally, he manages to say "Sure. I neds teh expir- exper.......er.....some trainin'."
He stares for a bit longer, then adds "Er....Were is teh combat pit at, anways?"
Pel smiled and replied calm, though internal he wasn't really happy nor patient: "Don't worry, I'll just go find my friend and then I'll be back. Just wait here for a moment."
With luck I don't have to go back here... But a backup plan is always a good idea.
Marteal nods, and adds "Ii'll be trainin' till you comes back." He turns back around and begins to hit the Training Dummy.
Without hesitating even a moment Pel turned around and left the room. He walked with confident steps and looked straight forward. Though he didn’t remember every detail of the rooms on the other side of the lava he was just crossing he knew well what was important. If there would be any problems he’d just have to take a look on his map anyways, so he wasn’t really concerned about that.
“Feels like the air’s burning.” He muttered, looking at the glaring lava with a slightly annoyed look on his eyes.
After he reached the entrance to the second part of the dungeon it didn’t take him long to get near the training room. Even up to here the sound of the fight the dummies put up against Ryan could be heard. It seemed like his target was busy, but Pel remained careful. Even know he could easily be detected if Ryan put his guard up. With his right hand on the sheath he slowly made steps towards the noise, it took him two to get Ryan into his field of vision. His heart had begun pumping wild while the adrenaline rushed through his body and transferred his mind into a glassy state where he noticed every little detail around him. His own breath was as load as it were swords that collided.
Only twenty steps apart from his goal he begun to get faster and faster. Until his prey seemed to realize that something wasn’t right, that something was near. Without any hesitation Pel slowed down and took his hands from his weapons. Only a second later, as Ryan noticed him and focused his weapons on him it became clear to him that he couldn’t have won would he have stuck with his first plan. He’d exhale relieved now if the circumstances would be different.
“You. You’re following me? What the hell do you really want? Tell me now or this bolt will nail you onto the fucking wall!”
“Sorry my friend, I didn’t mean to sneak up on you…”
“Don’t call me friend! You’ve lost that right, and you should know this by now!”
“Alright, alright, calm down! I was just going to ask you if you’d like to have a bit training in the combat pit. Real training. I thought you’d appreciate that.”
“Oh and this is why you really came up here? How long have you waited out there?”
“Trust me, this was the reason I came here, really! I already asked someone for a fight and just thought you might join, if you come with me he can tell you. It’s really just this; I want real training as much as you do.”
Ryan lowered his weapons but still stared at his counterpart with a hateful glimpse.
“Alright then. Let me see him. Let’s see how your bullshit story turns out and if you didn’t lie I might enjoy giving you some punches later on. Go ahead.”
Pel smiled before he answered, calm as ever. “If you don’t point your weapons at me, sure.”
They left the training room and headed backwards, they remained silent until they got to the bridge, where Ryan asked: “How do you even know of the arena? I was there before you arrived and you couldn’t have got there without me noticing you.”
Pel shrugged while they entered the guard room. “There are maps in the guard room. I saw it on one.”
A few moments later they approached Marteal, where Pel nodded while Ryan asked. “So Pel here really asked you for an arena fight? If yes you can count me in, if not I have some things to.. deal with” he looked down on his sword before his eyes focused the orc again.
Marteal stops bashing the dummy (which, by its condition, was probably thanking the Gods for the pause), and turns, listening to Ryan. After he is done speaking, Marteal replies "He did ask me if me wants some trainin' in teh combat pit. Me said me needed some prec- prac- err....trainin', and said it was fine by me." He turns to Pel, and adds "Leads the way."
Pel smiled and nodded but couldn’t resist giving Ryan a look that said “Told you so.” After that the group made its way to the combat pit, were they stopped. Pel turned around and pointed at the black knight in it. “What’s up with him?”
Ryan stopped him with a wave of his and stepped beside Pel. “That guy just stood there for a day or so. I don’t think he even realizes we’re here. I’m not even sure if he’s alive.”
“Ah. Whatever, I think we just go into the pit and fight all versus all? “
Ryan shrugged. “Pretty much. Though you can be sure that I’m going to concentrate my attacks on you.”
Pel looked over to Marteal, expecting his answer before entering the pit, while Ryan already jumped down and drew his weapon.
Marteal offers no reply, and instead jumps down after Ryan, winding his arms up to get ready for the fight. He looks over at the Black Knight......Then turns back around to the group that he was fighting with.
Pel shook his head and followed the others. He drew his sword as one of Ryan’s bolts already streaked his head, leaving a small wound behind.
“We’re not supposed to kill us here!” Pel shouted as he was charging towards Ryan. He tried to hit him from above, but the merc yanked his crossbow up. Before Pel could react Ryan kicked him into the stomach and used this to make a roll backwards. Before Pel was even back on his feet the first bolts hit him.
It was still nice to see that these methods worked out, but after Pel would realize what he was playing he couldn’t be certain that these tricks work anymore. But now after his one opponent was temporary neutralized he aimed at Marteal and fired three bolts while walking backwards, one after another, slow and steady aimed.
Pel slowly got back on his feet while grabbing his weapon.
Oh, I will get this done right now!
With three bolts flying at him, Marteal just calmly shrugged and did what he did best. He brought his shield up, and deflected the first two arrows, sidestepping the third, and charged Pel, shield still up to discourage any further arrows.
The ground trembled with every running step as a juggernaut charged the Rogue. Nearly in front of him, Marteal swings his hammer down, then follows with another swing to the right.
Pel rolled away as soon as he heard the orc coming and tried to get on his feet with another roll, but apparently he wasn't fast enough. Only a brief moment later pain exploded in his left arm. Stumbling the rogue brought distance between himself and the orc, only to get shot again. He dodged the next few bolts by Ryan and tried to get behind him now, which would leave him open to attacks from him and Marteal.
Ryan continued to target Pel until he got up and moved into his direction.
Trying to stab me in the back? I don't think so!
Ryan immediately holstered his crossbow and made steps into his opponents direction while drawing his sword.
This is it! Pel smiled while now directly charging Ryan. His sword was directed at his throat, it would be easy to convince everyone that this would be an accident and that it was no murder. Ryan wouldn’t be able to block his attack now, merely two meters separated them from each other.
Before Pel could react Ryan used speed on himself and surprised his opponent. The look on Pel’s face became skeptical, the only thing he could do before Ryan’s hilt smashed against his head and sent him back to the floor. Before leaving his opponent he kicked against his stomach again, before turning back at Marteal.
He nodded in his direction and lifted his weapon, ready to face the next opponent.
It’s going to be much more fun with this speed spell. He thought to himself.
Marteal relaxes, and asks "Yous done with that Rogue you no like? And no lies. Me my not be intal- intel- err......smart.......but me saw yous hatred for him.
He shifts his center of gravity again, getting ready to continue his battle against the Rogue known as Ryan.
Ryan looked down to Pel with a derogatory glimpse before looking back to Marteal.
"I guess he's out."
The merc then put his sword away and took his crossbow again. He didn't want to talk, he wanted to see what he could do with his new ability. Unlike the training room he finally could test out all the strategies whoch would be a waste for dummies anyways.
"Always wanted to use that in a close quarter combat and with speed..." he muttered to himself while walking towards his opponent.
Suddenly the blackness dissapeared and the pain came back.
"Dammit!"
Pel rolled onto his back and touched his broken nose. Blood ran down his face and besmirched his hand.
It's never easy with such assasinations, is it?

Martheal l Ryan & Pel
Matreal charges Ryan, knowing he is sped up and is determined not to slow down. He swings his hammer around to the right, then a downward stroke, followed by a quick bash with the shield. He continues to swing in wild abandon, trying to hit the speedy Rogue, without knowing that Pel woke up.
Ryan was still in normal walking speed as his opponent charged him. With his crossbow over his shoulder he rolled to the side and made a quick step into the orcs direction before firing his crossbow. The merc then made a turn while loading his crossbow before he ran towards the wall eastern wall of the arena. He jumped and grabbed one of the spikes. He repelled his body from the wall quickly and turned around. Now he had the chance to target Matreal from a much higher position. The disadvantage was that he couldn’t reload, so the loaded bolt had to hit.
Matreal still did have one advantage over the Rouge: He can aim. He braces himself, tossing his shield straight at Ryan, determined to get him down. The shield flies straight, heading for the Rogue. Matreal also charges to where the merc is at, wanting to get him when and if he gets down.
Ryan saw what was coming and reflexive lifted his crossbow. He tried to slam it into the projectile, but with all the force that hit him he was unable to hold onto the spike any longer. The merc fell to the ground but could come back at his feet fast enough to see Marteal coming. During this he unfortunately fired his weapon, hitting nothing but air. Quickly reloading his crossbow he casted Speed again and also ran towards his opponent, though he rolled to the side before they reached each other. In a better spot he fired his bolts now in Matreals back. With the effects of speed he could shoot one bolt in only three seconds, even by now he already fired five who hopefully would find their target.
Pel rammed his sword into the ground and slowly pressed himself up on it. He tried to get an overview of the fight between Ryan and Matreal. Luckily they both didn't look into his direction, so he had plenty of time to limb into their direction, dragging his sword behind himself. The weak sound of sharp metal scratching stone followed Pel.
Marteal, watching Ryan get off the spikes and roll out of his way, finally stopped and turned toward Ryan, not noticing Pel. The first bolt bit into the Orc's skin, but did little damage (and, if anything, just annoyed him). Marteal stepped out of the way of the next few bolts, and ran a circle around Ryan, attempting to find a good time to fetch his shield.
Ryan continued to fire two bolts before he finally charged towards his opponent and tried to smash the crossbow into his face.
Damn! Pel thought while still moving towards the other two fighters, the wound on his face still hadn't stopped bleeding.
Marteal stopped and waited for Ryan to get within reach.....And charged, ramming into him and charging past him, moving the spikes. When there, he grabs his shield, turns back around and charges again. The Orc follows this charge with an upper-cut bash with the shield, then swings to the left, following with a right swing.
As soon as his foe was past him Ryan threw holstered his crossbow away and drew his shortsword.
"Hey"
As soon as the merc shouted the orc already attacked. Ryan countered the first attack and dodged the next and had his weapon already in position to hit Matreal, but suddenly he screamed out of pain as something pierced his left shoulder.
Pel grinned as his sword hit Ryan and his shiv came back out with a small blood fountain.
Can't risk a kill now, but at least I can hurt you.
Quickly he withdrew his weapon again, let Ryan sink down on his knee.
“I think we’re done. You can’t fight with a wound like that. We should patch you up before you…”
Before he could finish his line Ryan turned around and punched him into the face. Pel saw it coming and simply lifted his arms blocked the attack without any effort.
“You lose even more blood when you do that,”
Marteal stepped back a few steps, and waited, winding his arm up for a toss. After a few seconds, he tosses his hammer, a massive tool only a fly, with any certainty, could dodge. Along with this, someone spoke within his head, announcing to him: YOU HAVE REACHED LEVEL 2!
Pel concentrated himself on Ryan and tried to calm him down, so unlike the merc who took a quick look over his shoulder and jumped away with Speed in time all Pel could do as the massive hammer approached him was opening his eyes wide. A brief moment later the projectile hit him directly in the chest and threw him a few steps back. For some seconds Pel couldn’t really breathe. Though he tried to calm himself down and get his body on its feet again he needed nearly fifteen seconds for that, fatal in a real fight.
As he was back up he hissed over to his opponent. “You’ll see what such foolish things gain you!”
Throwing his weapons away in the middle of a fight was never a good idea and the orc would see that soon enough. Pel looked over to Ryan who already had his crossbow aimed at him. The rogue didn’t even bother with his mien or tone anymore; he just whipped the crossbow out of Ryan’s hands and punched him with it in his face, sending him down to the floor again.
Pel then limbed towards Matreal who was dangerously near the wall. His left arm lowered with the sword in it and the right lifted and aiming with the crossbow on the orc the rogue begun to fire. He wouldn’t be able to dodge all of them and only one was needed to nail him against the wall. It wouldn’t harm him much, but it would hurt.
Marteal, having expected the response of crossbow bolts, put his shield up and deflected the arrows, moving forward. After marching forward far enough, he grabbed Pel by his head, blocking his sight and his breathing. He then turned to the nearest spike wall, and begun walking toward it.
Forgetting about the shield Pel lost control over the situation for a brief moment, but luckily he could free himself through biting his opponent in the hand. The taste of the orcs warm blood wasn't anything Pel enjoeyed, but he got free again. Without hesitation he slammed Matreal his elbow into his ribs and jumped backwards. Looking at Ryan who just got up he shouted: "You're still bleeding. You should tape that up." Pel then threw the crossbow over to the merc and turned around. Though it wasn't easy under his condition he climbed out of the pit and looked back to the other two fighters. To Ryan he shouted: "Catch you later." before leaving the room.
Ryan looked up to Pel with a hateful glimpse, but finally picked up his weapons and put them away. With a hand on his wound he hissed: "I think we're done here. I think I'll blackout if I don't patch up that wound soon."
Question is how I'll get out of this arena first...
Marteal offers no reply, other than grabbing Ryan (along with his hammer), and climbing up out of the pit with him in hand. When they got out of the pit, he puts Ryan down and heads off, back to the toils of the Workshop. Ryan also walks off, heading to the Hatchery and then the Lair to recuperate.

Skios continued the pursuit of the hero Dwarf. Eventually the Dwarf met up with two other units, an archer and a knight.
The dwarf spoke up to them.
:dwarf:: "GUYS! GUYSGUYSGUYS! THERE'S A GHOST IN THE ANCIENT DUNGEON AND IT'S CREEPING ME OUT!"
:thief:: "Duuude, calm down. Haven't you heard? Lord Christopher has decided to go on a strategic retreat for the moment. I've heard that he said something about his scouting units mysteriously disappearing. He--"
:dwarf:: "WHAAAAAA! LORD CHRISTOPHER! WAIT FOR MEEEEEE!!"
The Dwarf ran off into the distance. The Archer turned to the Knight.
:thief:: "Eh, Craig. I think we should go too. Everyone else left already. Where were they going towards again? I think they said it was some place called Faircoast... Eh. Let's go."
:lord:: "Right."
The archer and knight walked off as well. Skios stared for a moment at the emptiness of the dungeon, then ran back to report to his Keeper, Larquidos.
"Interesting... the Heroes all disappeared. That means all enemies in the realm have disappeared. I must report this to Larquidos."
Skios continued on, on his way to return to the dungeon...
------------------------------------------------
Larquidos, meanwhile, stared at his dungeon. It appeared much emptier than before. He suddenly had only a handful of creatures showing any sign of life: the spider Krua, the orc Marteal and the rogues Ryan and Pel. He also had the spider Skios sent out to retrieve information, but he would catch up to that later. Rather, Larquidos looked at the rogues and orc, who have seemingly decided to have a 3-man free-for-all fight in the combat pit.
Larquidos liked the initiative of his creatures taking it to the Combat Pit to get their training done the hard, but rewarding way. He watched as the fight went on. It was quite an interesting and exciting fight. He watched until the end, when the two Rogues crawled out with their share of wounds, while the Orc Marteal walked out almost unscathed.
Then suddenly, Skios, who had been sent out to find the Heroes' whereabouts, returned to him. This pulled his attention away from the combat pit.
"Skios... you returned already? What is it that made you return so quickly?"
"Master", Skios panted, "The Heroes have left the realm! I overheard some of them saying that Christopher retreated and left to another realm! And they're all gone now!"
"Why... that is most excellent news. Lord Christopher and his band were the last Heroes left to defend the realm. Now that they have disappeared... this realm is now MINE! Let's go ON, for this is but the start of my quest! I shall find Lord Christopher once again, and next time, I shall defeat him."
Larquidos took a look around his dungeon and its conquered surroundings. He then glanced over the Library, where he saw a shiny Special lying around in the room. It was the Increase Level special, that he had been keeping around for a very long time. He knew that, were he be going to be leaving the realm, it would be silly and idiotic to not make advantage of the trinket. He should use it now, or he will never be able to use it again. The obvious choice was to do it now. He released the magic from the magic box, and its power spread over all creatures. It increased the power of all of his creatures that he still had.
