    Default Changing textures

Okay, I got this problem with the textures I have for a long time, and I would like that to be fixed. Basicly, the textures never change for some reason. I've used both the Official Editor and Adikted with both Keeper95 and FX data, no luck with that. And yes, I've followed installation instructions to the letter for that matter.

    Suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Textures are identified by index. Correct indexes are 0..7. The index is written in one-byte binary value stored inside .INF file for every map.

This means you can change textures by edit the INF file by hand. You need binary editor for that - notepad won't work. There are many hexadecimal editors - use the one you want; I'm usually using MadEdit.

Just open the INF file for your map (ie. map00001.inf) and change the value into any between "00" and "07".

If the map can't be loaded after editing the file, you can check if texture files are where they should - "DK\DATA\TMAPA00x.DAT".

Well, the problem is that the INF file seemingly fail to be generated at all! Not Adikted nor the Offical Editor makes a difference in that. The INF files are not even hidden anyhow in ''Compatability Files' where all my saved map files go.

Make it yourself? Just create a blank MAP#####.inf file and edit the first and only byte with an hex editor.

I don't get why your maps wouldn't get an .inf file but would get all other map files, but I can't help you there.

Yup, it's weird. It's like if the .INF file is hidden or something avoids it. I'd be curious to look at the directory... but with the console.

Okay... I had this very strange development. After many desperate tries and attempts to make it work falied, including making by myself INF files with hex editors I gave up changing textures. Some time later I suffered the notorius Black Screen of Death (BSoD) due an unrelated incident. Eventually I had to resort to restoring my C harddrive because everything else falied to fix it, losing everything on it.

But when I reinstalled Dungeon Keeper... guess what: my sounds worked again! Now, I was overjoyed by this, and I tried to push my luck and gave a shot with changing the texture of a random map... it's now also functioning!
