    Question Constant crashing early on in the game

    No matter what I do in the game I seem to crash early in any new game or map of Dungeon Keeper I try to play. It's almost as if claiming tiles or exploring the map causes this but I'm not exactly sure what is happening. I'm on windows 7 64-bit and I've tried running KeeperFx in both full screen and windowed mode (either without playing with the default resolution).

    Try updating to latest Nigtly Build.

    Try adding KeeperFX to DEP.

    Try running heavylog (former debug) version, then paste your log file.

    Updated to latest nightly build, didn't work.
    Added both KeeperFX and Hvylog to the DEP, nothing changed

    I tried the first scenario again and managed to hold off the crash by not building a treasure room. Soon after building one the game crashes with the error "unable to initialize heap"

    Heavy log seems to be too long to post (causes preivew reply to tells me my post is too short when i try to copy, past then preview) or attach (the file is 3.17MB)- not sure what to do at the point. My apologies if I'm not on the right track here...

    I will probably have to prepare a special version to test what's exactly crashing.

    For now, you could check if the game still hangs after starting with "-nosound" parameter.

    Played through Level 1 (eversmile) and managed to get through it without crashing. thanks a lot.
    I currently have the latest drivers (May 21st 2010) for my sound card; is there anything else I can do to fix the sound problem?

    I have no idea why this could happen. If only your machine has enough RAM, and virtual memory enabled, this makes no sense.

    Also, the error message probably contains more information - ie. in which module the error happened, and maybe even some technical data (memory address of the call?).
    Could you paste whole message here?

    If there is a module identification, maybe it will lead us to real reason of the problem; I doubt KeeperFX is causing it directly.

    Also, try crashing this one. As before, give me some lines form start and from end of the log:
