    Default Angel

Notice: Due to current feedback, this suggestion is likely to get major cosmetic changes. This means it will be renamed, will have a new appearance, and many abilities will have new descriptions. But it's skills and build will not change in function.

    Notes:
This was an idea that I thought of myself, but as anyone who visited this page before knows, it was not perfect. After three attempts at trying to make her fill different roles, I finally asked MGR to help me. Most of the balancing and at least three spells Rex came up with, along with doing three separate reviews. Thanks for helping me Rex!!!!!
P.S: Due to the changes, Rex's first three comments/reviews are now irrelevant. That being said, please enjoy the suggestion.

    Level 4: Sight
    Level 5: Disrupt**
    Level 7: Dazzling Light***
    Level 9: Holy Pillar****
    Level 10: Angelic Sweep*****

    * Minor lightning damage in a 3 square radius surrounding the Angel, only effects enemies. Max 8 units damaged.
    Cool down: 15 secs
** The Angel fires a holy orb into the middle of an enemy army. The orb explodes on contact with the ground. Does very low damage, but has a moderate knock back effect
    Cool down: 30 secs
***Stuns enemies for 3-5 secs in a 3 square radius surrounding the Angel.
    Cool down: 40 secs
**** The Angel calls a holy light from above on a single tile an enemy creature is on. It will deal constant low damage for 1-2 secs and will have a repel effect that will keep creatures away for 2 squares.
    Cool down 35 secs
*****The Angel creates several waves of wind using her wings that expand around her quickly. They deal no damage but push enemies back based on the force of the wave. The force of the wave is at its strongest near its spawning point and grows weaker as it expands out. The waves travel 3-4 Tiles before they disappear.*
    25 Second Recharge Time

    Special Skills
Redeemer- She will go to dead bodies and send their souls to heaven (or hell depending on which side shes on) this will give the keeper mana or gold equivalent to the level and type of the creature. ( A level 10 horned reaper will gain significantly more mana/gold than a level 3 beetle)

    Battle style: Scrambler
Her cause in battle is to break up groups and cause some mayhem. As she is fragile, she relies heavily on the get in, get out tactic, and if stunned, she is nearly doomed. She is usually at a typical support range, but is not adverse to getting into the middle of an enemy group to break it up.

    Dungeon Behaviour:
The Angel is typically a very happy member of a Hero's Dungeon. Not much can bother her. It does seem, however, that she has a strong dislike for the unholiest of creatures, namely, the Witch, the Mistress, and the Succubus, and will politely refuse to share the same lair with them. If forced, don't expect her to be efficient, as she will refrain from sleeping. Slapping can also be a problem, as it will get her very irritated. She is frightened of the bile demon. Mainly because of what a filthy creature he is, and is not uncommon to see her running down the hallway to avoid one.She will usually be found in places of solitude or prayer (Temple, Library, Graveyard) and being in or near these places make her happy. When idle, she will drop to her knees in prayer, sometimes encouraging nearby monks to join her. This will also make her and the monks happy. When she visits a graveyard, she will mourn the fallen. She loves monks, and will try to travel with a group of them. She will not train on her own, though and she will never drink at the tavern, feeling it is a sin, but will enjoy the laughter and company of others there.

    Jobs:
    Pray
    Research

    Obtainable by:
    Hero Portal, Conversion, Temple
    (Recipe= 1 Maiden, 1 Wizard, 1 Monk)

    Hates:
    Witches, Mistresses, Succubi, Bile Demons

    Loves:
    Monks, Maidens, Praying, Researching

    Anger Reaction:
She will go into a room filled with creatures and cast her scrambling spells to cause confusion.

    Lair:
A small circle of glowing runes. She will float a few inches off the floor when inside it, her wings will envelop her as they do in her entrance effect.

    Introduced:
Mid-Late game. She will continuously break up your assaults

    Attracted by:
    Library, Temple,

    Entrance effect:
A golden ray of light shines through the portal. She floats out enveloped in her wings. When she reaches a high point, her wings spread gently and she begins to glow. The glow fades as she floats down to the floor.

    Torture:
The torturer rips out feathers from her wings and throws them into a fire, each feather represents a piece of her spirit, thus making her weaker.

Why does it have High Attack? It is a Support Unit, so its Attack should not be high.

The Blindness effect is a bit too much for a Level 1 Spell. It really cripples certain Units.

This is quite a pointless spell really. If anything, this Spell could backfire. Because she's a Support Unit, she'll be surrounded by other Support Units located a good distance behind the Melee Fighters. The effects of this spell may not reach the Melee Fighters in some situations. The end result is the Support Units will be unable to actually Support its Allies, and thus the Player will be put at a disadvantage.

    Cooldown 60 secs
This spell is only useful when there are a good amount of Monks and Maidens around, especially Monks. In fact, this spell encourages Monk/Saint army Spam. Reason is because Monks usually can last a good while thanks to Protect and Heal. This spell will reduce the damage that any Attacked Monk is taking, so it will be easier for them to restore their Health with Heal if their damage taken is divided.

    Cooldown 120
Another Spell that is useless unless the Player has a few Monks/Maidens. In fact, this spell encourages Saint/Monk Army spam even more, as it allows them to spam Heal so that they can never be killed. Being as the Saint is a Support Unit, she likely won't be attacked (Especially if her Monk defenders become invincible Gods) so it isn't likely that her health will fall beneath Half. If, for whatever reason, she does get attacked, Monks can spam Heal on her and she'll be back to full in an instant.

No, just no. No standard Unit should have access to a Resurrecting Ability. Combine this with previous spells and Monks/Saints will be the broken strategy many Players will abuse.

This is, again, a Spell that requires Monks and Maidens to work. Interestingly enough, it is the most useless of all the Saint's spells. Sure it deals a crapload of damage, but it instantly kills one of the Player's own Monks, which are like invincible Gods due to her last few spells.

A blinding light soon began to pour from the window, blinding creature and monk alike. When they opened there eyes, a beautiful woman, clad in a simple pink tunic, stood there. Giving them a smile of benediction, a beam of holy fire shot from her forehead as her lips mouthed a silent prayer. The Creatures stood no chance, and after the demons had been defeated, she knelt in the pews, and began to pray, still not uttering a word. When the monks asked her who she was, she paused, and looked at them. Her voice rang out, sweet and clear as she simply stated
"I am what you've prayed for."
I don't think this really fits in with the lore of Monks. Sure, Monks in real life might simply pray, but these are Monks in Dungeon Keeper. They're not going to hide and pray until The Avatar (Or his Maiden, it seems) pops up to rescue them. They're going to get out there in the battle with some Knights and Giants then kick some ass. Remember that they can fight, they're not useless fragile human Monks.

She adores Monks and Maidens, being as they have lived a holy lifestyle and will usually have three or four of them travel with her. She will occasionally go to the Graveyard to honor the fallen, kneeling and praying words of safe travel. When idle, she will always find a place to kneel and pray, and will often attempt to make other creatures pray with her. Taverns disgust her, and she will often go into one to preach to the creatures inside, who more or less, really don't care that much. Praying makes her happy, as does passing by libraries and temples, but she will never train unless specifically told to. If slapped, she will think she has done something wrong, and seek advice from her creator (Praying). She rarely sleeps, but when she does, she sleeps for long periods of time. She only eats one chicken, and is barely ever hungry. If she sees your creatures fighting, she will cast Peace and stop the fight, telling both creatures to pray for their sins.
The large amount of Mana gained combined with the overpowered spells = broken. Hell, she could probably generate enough Mana to allow a Player to spam Create Gold to pay for her high costs. Her high Intelligence will also allow for her to quickly grant a Player Create Gold so that it can be spammed.

She's a bit too useful in the dungeon, being as she does not need to sleep too much nor does she eat very often. This allows her to spend long hours in the Temple or Library. She also prevents Units from fighting as Lair Enemies, eliminating that aspect of management all together. This last trait is ironically more useful on the Creature Side, especially since it could be used to stop a Horned Reaper.

: Ow! You stepped on my foot!
: You got problem with me? I kill you.
: Stop! Both of you should be ashamed of yourselves, fighting with each other! You should both pray for the sins that you've committed!

She will travel with warlocks and Witches as opposed to their holy counterparts, and her apperance will change signifigantly. Her skin will turn blue, and her golden runes will turn black. Her eyes would turn white and her dress would be ripped and torn.
It is a nice realistic touch, but gameplaywise, it pretty much kills the point of her hating certain types of things. She'll usually only encounter a Warlock or other Hated Unit when she has been converted, meaning she won't have a single problem on the Creature Side like how she probably should. (Though she will have trouble making use of her Monk/Maiden only spells, unless a Player went crazy on the converting)

What if there are no Monks or Maidens being tortured and she's all alone?

    Overall:
A Unit that solely relies on the existance of nearby Monks and Maidens. With them, she's overpowered as she can go as far as resurrecting fallen allies. Without them, she is significantly more useless as her later and more overpowered spells are Monk/Maiden only. Her Level 10 Spell is also ironically very useless as it kills one of the Player's own Monks. (Or Maidens)

She's also way too useful in the Dungeon, thanks to her ability to generate a massive amount of Mana and Research Points combined with her lack of a need to sleep or eat. She also can stop Lair Enemies from fighting with each other, or even be used to stop a Horned Reaper that has gone psycho. Considering her in Battle Overpoweredness, I'd expect her to ironically be a miniature female Horned Reaper.

Her spells make her like an alternative and more overpowered yet limited Maiden, being as she can't do much damage herself (Well as a Support Unit, she has a crapload of Attack actually for some god awful reason) and her spells are mostly devoted to Healing or Buffing up allies. (Monks in this case) The information for her isn't really interesting too much and actually conflicts with the lore about the Monks.

So the summery of the summery would be that I see nothing going for her.

I'd like to see this unit as a top-tier one. In WftO the horned reaper is going to have a mage counterpart: the archlinch. I'd love to see a support unit counterpart to the knight

I see you nerfed her significantly stat wise. Only buffs she has is an increased Accuracy, which is useless on her and also Very High Luck, which will only end up being used defensively for somewhat obvious reasons. Only problem now is that you made it so she has a faster Training Rate, and is also significantly cheap(er). While I wouldn't normally have too much of a problem with this, the issue is with some of her spells as they're still a bit powerful. The faster Training Rate is a problem because her later spells are the ones that are strong.

This is a ranged ability that damages single target, yes? If so, I'm fine with it... as long as it does not deal holy damage. If it does, that is a problem because Holy Damage should be reserved for the Monk.

This is both a "strong" debuffing ability and also a very useless ability in general. It is "strong" because it, as you describe it, effects all enemy support units. (You say Enemy Support like it is a group)

It is useless because Accuracy/Dexterity and Agility/Defense are not important stats for Support Units. Reducing their Dexterity doesn't effect their battle abilities at all as they don't use Melee. (Even if they do, they deal crap damage)

Their Defense only helps them dodge Melee Attacks a bit, but they only need to dodge Melee Attacks when the enemy breaks through their Allies' defense. Most Support Units have low Defense to add, so they don't really need a debuff. Even if they have high Defense, they normally don't have the Health nor Armor to survive a hit so it doesn't matter if they dodge one or two strikes.

Also note that by this point in the battle, the Player's Support Units will be targetting the lone enemy Support Units. It doesn't matter what their Defense is as they won't be able to dodge those kinds of spells. The only Unit this spell will actually be useful on is the Vampire as they have high Defense and good Health/Armor, and even then, it isn't that useful. Especially since the effect only lasts 10 seconds.

This is another Debuff Ability, which is also noticably more powerful and also obtained at Level 5. This makes the Saint appear closer to being a Debuffer Unit, which is a no. The Hero Side shouldn't have too many debuffing abilities, that's reserved for the Creature Side.

Also, you do not list the effect time on this one.

Holy crap is this overpowered. This basically makes enemy Support Units practically useless. Meteor's 415 Damage at Level 10 will drop down to 103, which is barely above its Level 1 Damage. (100) This will be an extremely powerful spell to cast on Tanks, especially Armored Tanks. The Monk will also find this very useful thanks to his Heal and Protect. This also is more useful than any of the Maiden's spells, even her Level 10 Empowerment spell. This allows the Saint to outdo the Maiden by a significant amount in battle, which is obviously bad.

Also, unless you want to say "Negative Status Effects", you should probably say that it makes surrounding allies resistant to magical damage.

So this "redemption" is basically an instant and permanent turncoat effect on an enemy Unit? Highly abusable, especially if someone used some save state abuse.

Quite overpowered, even for a Level 10 Spell. This not only protects allies from all Magical Damage but also allows her to send ALL of the magical damage that the enemy dealt back to them.

For her Spells in general, I notice there's really no actual focus of abilities. She has a basic ranged Attack, debuffing abilities, buffing abilities, a turncoating ability, and a powerful defensive ability that is also used as a powerful offensive AoE ability. The only thing her spells have in common is a long Cooldown, which might make her eligible as a Burst Support Unit but she still needs some kind of focus for what her abilities are being used for. She is a Hero after all.

I'm pretty sure it was The Avatar that did that. Unless you mean the events after DK1 where Creatures ruled the world and The Avatar was dead.

She loathes Wizards and this can lead to her getting in arguements with them, though this is strictly counter productive as they will never actually fight. Meeting a wizard is enough to make a saint want to go pray in a temple to raise her happiness.
Her loath for Wizards proves to be a problem as they're both Researchers, meaning they're going to have a lot of encounters in the Library. Being as the Wizard is the best Researcher on the Hero Side, it is only obvious that the Saint will probably be kicked out of the Library so that the Wizard can research as he pleases.

Though what I would really like to know is why she has a problem with the Wizard to begin with.

It probably isn't a good idea to put "etc" in this section. It makes the information a bit vague. In fact, it sounds like the Saint hates all sorts of Magical Units and/or advanced Researchers because of the way you worded yourself there.

    Overall 2:
While her stats are generally better than they were before, she now has a new problem, which is her cheapness and faster Training Rate. These are problems as she's still the overpowered Spell Caster that she was before. She may have a different spell set, but a lot of her later spells are very overpowered. She also has a significant amount of debuffing abilities, which as many of you should probably know is a "No". Her abilities in battle don't really have a general focus anywhere, which is also bad as Heroes are supposed to specialize.

She now "argues" with the Wizard whenever she encounters one for no apparent reason, which makes her Researching abilities useless. It becomes a question of whether to have a Wizard or a Saint research as they obviously can't research together. The answer is clearly the Wizard, as he's the best Researcher on the Hero Side. (And in the game, not including High Class Units of course) What makes this more problematic is that Researching is one of the jobs she will do naturally, so you may often have to micro-manage her to get her out of the Library. It is about as annoying as a Vampire going to the Temple, knowing it is just going to annoy itself.

As it currently stands, I don't see this suggestion making it in.

    * * * * * * *

I can see that you are determined to try and get this suggestion accepted in one form or another. Therefore, I will offer you some advise.

    • First off, listen to what I said above. Remove or balance the abusable spells, then fix her stats accordingly. Also clarify why the Saint hates the Wizard if you plan to keep that aspect of her.
    • Make sure her abilities or usage isn't too similar to any of the accepted Heroes. Definately make sure that she has nothing which is too similar to any unique trait that an accepted Hero has. Unique Traits would be like the Monk's ability to deal Holy Damage or the Maiden's Encouragement Job. Unique traits are to be reserved for one Unit only, otherwise, they won't be unique. Accepted Heroes are all the Heroes in DK1 in addition to all Heroes in the Accepted Subforum. If you need help determining what kinds of abilities or usage these Units have, PM me.
    • Stay way from traits that aren't fitting for the Hero Side. Debuffing is a good example of an unfitting trait.
    • Make sure that she specializes. Heroes are stronger than Creatures because of two reasons. The first is because they generally have higher stats. The second reason is because they specialize, so while they can only do one or two tasks effectively, they are much better at said task(s) compared to Creatures.
    • Try to create a unique ability or trait to allow her to stand out. She already have one unique trait, which is her ability to stop Units from fighting in the dungeon. This isn't very useful on the Hero Side, admittedly, but it is definately a start.

Follow this advise and you should be able to create a much better Hero Suggestion that has a better chance of being accepted. You better not disappoint.

The Maiden is the Buffer Unit on the Hero Side. Also, the Saint steals the Maiden's unique ability of boosting efficiency.
