So hey, I'm still working on this. I took a break from the patch for like a month or two and now I'm back on it. Nearly done with some revisions on the levels I've already made, which is up to Level 8. Then I'm going to finish Level 9, and get Levels 10-12 done afterwards. My goal is to get a demo up to Level 12 done by mid June.

In the meantime, have some videos of Level 6a. Gameplay done by Skarok.

I'm currently on Level 11, so almost done.

Well, sort of. Actually I've run into some technical issues regarding Level 11 and may be a bit late on releasing the patch, which was precisely June 15th. I spent several days working with Level 11, getting the AI to behave, and then, the AI just suddenly broke down on me. It would not drop Creatures, attack (well Drako attacked), or even acknowledge threats. I spent a few days working with it with Skarok's help and, while I haven't completely fixed the issue, I'm finally on track to finding the source of the problem.

Depending on the problem itself, it may be over and done with by tomorrow or it may take a few days to fix. Not sure, but there's your update.

So, I found out what the error was. It was rather painful, actually. You see, when I went to have the map testplayed, I noticed I forgot to turn System Messages back on, (you know those annoying messages the mentor guy keeps giving you) as I turned it off for the introduction of the map. And then I ran into this problem. For several days this has delayed me. So, discovering this has been rather... annoying.

So, why did I mention the thing about System Messages? Well, apparently, for whatever reason, if System Messages are turned off, so is the AI. If System Messages are off, the AI will totally break down and will not drop Creatures or acknowledge enemy threats at all.

Like... what was even the point of programming that in? What does that even do with the AI?

    DKII is very abusive.

I hate it very much right now.

But the good news is that I don't have to redo the whole script of Level 11 or sacrifice any of the script as I had feared. Due to one of the "gimmicks", the level does have a fairly heavy script.

I guess I can finally get back to work now.

    With abusive DKII.

    Alone.

    ...Somebody help me.

Wat wat. Slowly. You are saying, that sys msgs affect AI dropping creatures? Is it true for what version? Please say 1.7 =)

It was tested in 1.3. I doubt it'd have any effects on the broken 1.7 AI unfortunately.
There is absoluetly nothing wrong with DK Mobile, whatsoever.

That is actually pretty illuminating. I know DKII has a lot of programming quirks and oddities that can be explained by the game being rushed out the door. But that is just such dumb programming, it has no excuse.

Just makes me wonder what really went on behind the scenes in development.

I stopped using 1.7 a long time ago. In fact, I deleted all my 1.7 folders. (though for different reasons)

Ok I am done. First release is out. I'm only half an hour late in my time compared to my dead line (I blame a headache I got at the last minute). And yes I did up my dead line from the 15th to the 19th as a result of the mass number of technical difficulties I received from the designing and literal hell that was Level 11. Anyways, I also decided to make Level 11 the finale for the demo. Two reasons. First is no way would I have finished Level 12 by today, or technically yesterday. And second, I think Level 11 is a good finale for the demo. Level 12 is more like a break from Level 11 anyways.

Download is in the first post.
