Default I need help getting multiplayer set up with KeeperFX

I wasn't entirely sure whether to put this in Multiplayer or KeeperFX, so feel free to move if needed.

So hello, it's me again, with another problem. This should be the last one for a long time now.
...Actually, it's two things, so...yes. I would appreciate any help at all. :3

First off: how do I actually get multiplayer set up? I think that I have correctly gotten the port(s) working, so I can host a game. But how does my friend join my game? I know what you're going to say: "Check the tcp_readme.txt in the KeeperFX folder", right? Well, I did. I don't understand what the following means:
Specify a command line option -sessions [ip_address]:5555 when starting game.
Does this mean to start the game, shrink down, go to the run bar, enter 'cmd' to bring up the command line, then enter the above (but with the proper IP)?

And second, how do I get my maps on the multiplayer list so that my friends and I can play them together? I'm pretty sure I need to copy+paste them somewhere, but where, and then do I need to move the 'LEVELS.txt' file somewhere after putting in the numbers that specify the map's number, the name, and the location of the flag?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as always.
(I feel really stupid for not understanding what the thing in the quote above means...)

Nope. It's a command line, meaning that you must write -sessions xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5555 (where x are numbers of host's IP address) after the path of the KeeperFX executable. You can either do it through "Run..." (by pressing simultaneously on [Windows] + [R] keys), or through a shortcut so that it gives, for example:

    "C:\KeeperFX\KeeperFX.exe" -sessions...:5555

Ensure you both have the same map stored as the same number. If, for example, you have a multiplayer map number 204, then ensure your friend has the same multiplayer map numbered 204.
To get it on the multiplayer screen, you must edit the .LOF file of the map and edit its stats: where is the ensign post and zoom, what's its name and what kind it is. Edit this file yourself then send it to your friend and you should be fine.

    Okay, I think I understand.

What folder does it need to be in?

You're kidding? It is not obvious enough?

Put it in the "Levels" folder.

I figured, but...I didn't know. I didn't want to break my DK by accident.

EDIT: Erm...there is no .LOF file for map 207 (my multiplayer map). Did you typo and mean .LIF ?
EDIT2: When I edit the .LIF file, this is what I see (exfire is the name of the map):
    207, exfire
So, I don't know where to add what you said to add or anything...Ugg I feel really stupid for not knowing ANY of this...

Just take example on a LOF file of another level. And you shouldn't break your DK just because of a level. Anyway, here's the format of the file:

    Code:
; KeeperFX Level Overview File (LOF)
KIND = MULTI (Leave it to MULTI since it's a multiplayer level)
NAME_TEXT = Enter the title of your level here
ENSIGN_POS = X Y (replace them with the X and Y coordinates of the ensign position on the overworld screen)
ENSIGN_ZOOM = X Y (same, but this time for where to zoom)
PLAYERS = X (amount of players in your multiplayer level)
OPTIONS = (Just leave it blank)
    AUTHOR = Your name
DESCRIPTION = Enter its description here
DATE = Date of map creation
Just create a new .TXT file, write the lines above with the modifications and save as MAP00207.LOF and you're done.

Thank you so much! Now my friend and I can play multiplayer!

EDIT: Shoot. We got it working, but after about ten minutes or so of playing, my friend crashed. She said that it was a programming error of some sort. I couldn't make heads or tails of the error. What I did to get hers working was enter what you said to above into the 'run' line, and it launches and everything. It's a bit laggy, but we can play, until she crashes. Do you want us to try a third time so that I can get the EXACT error to you?

KeeperFX multiplayer mode isn't fully functional already. Like mentioned in the readme, it still has issues. I already tried a multiplayer game by myself and it also crashed so, I really want to give help in order to make the game working, but I don't know how myself. The thing that may help is to ensure the 5555 port is open on your routers if you have any. You also have to make sure the connection speed is good enough. Also, you better use TCP/IP as an alternative to IPX, meaning that you have better chance that it works perfectly if both computers are in the same room. Finally, avoid playing on maps with computer players or it's a sure thing it's gonna crash.

If again, all fails, you can still try playing the Dos version of the game under Dosbox with the combination of YANG.

I didn't think it was stable.
    The port is open.
We are in the same room.
Ah. Both computer/non computer player maps crash. (When it crashes I get auto-computered, just like the readme said. WTH?!)

Will KeeperFX ever get a (more) stable multiplayer version?

I don't know. Someday perhaps. In the meantime, like I said, you can play the original Dos version, but it won't have the KeeperFX improvements.
