Default Max creatures: a possible bug?

Hi to all of you. Today, I want to report a strange thing that happened to me: if in the creature pool there are certain hero types (for example the Avatar), then you aren't able to reach the MAX_CREATURES number: you will stop at 10 creatures. This thing happened to me with Avatars, but I'm playing the hero campaign and in a level in whith I'm supposed to have 24 creatures, I'm stuck at 10... In the pool there are:
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(TUNNELLER,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(WIZARD,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(BARBARIAN,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(ARCHER,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(MONK,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(DWARFA,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(KNIGHT,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(WITCH,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(GIANT,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(FAIRY,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(THIEF,20)
    ADD_CREATURE_TO_POOL(SAMURAI,20)

EDIT: I killed some of the enemies and now creatures are coming in my dungeon, maybe this time I've reached 255 limit, but, in the other case (the one with Avatars) there were just the starting imp and some Avatar from the portal...

Wait, is it the same case or not? I don't seem to catch. But yeah, if there's already a too big amount of creatures on the level, they'll stop coming from the portal, action points and hero portals.
I like dragons! They're the center of my life! I'll never forget them...

If creatures couldn't be created due to the limit, you should see an error message in log file. check it.

No, it wasn't the same case, nor the same version of the game: the first case was a level of the Hero Campaign (KeeperFX) and I think it was because I reached 255 creatures in the level (killing someone lead me to have more creatures).

The second case was in a level created by me: Blu vs Red, every one can attract just Avatars, I can't remember the max creatures number I selected, but when it reached 10 it became flashing as the max was reached, but I'm pretty sure to have selected a number like 30...

EDIT: RESOLVED!!! The number of creature start to flash not only when the max creature is reached, but even when there are no mo creatures in the pool, so i've putted about 10 avatars in the pool and all of them were attracted by me and so the max creatures became flashing to both of us...

EDIT 2: Ok, done some tests in my "mercenary guild/sandbox level" (I had to modify it and add a portal to do this :P), now I understood so many things and I will go to answer them in their relative topics.
So, if "dead creatures returns to pool", when a creatures (of a hero) dies he/she/it returns to pool and so the light stop flashing because the pool is no more full... (Even if a creature wasn't in the pool like creatures already present in the level, creatures added by cheats (and so I think even added by script or by summoning in the Temple...)
