KeeperFX now has tools which allow to create all files required for land view out of PNGs.
The files you can generate:
- Optimal 8-bit PAL file for a series of PNG files (colors of all PNGs are put together and the set of most different colors is selected). This is done with Png2bestPal tool.
- The RAW file with land view picture from a PNG file and the previously made PAL file. The tool is PngPal2Raw with "-f raw" parameter.
- The DAT file with land view frame (originally tower window) from a PNG file and the previously made PAL file. The tool is also PngPal2Raw but with "-f hspr" parameter.
So, in short:
You can now prepare a series of images, and a land view frame picture. Save them as 24-bit PNG file with transparency, and the new tools will convert them into format suitable for KeeperFX.
(before, doing that required to manually convert files into 8BPP colour and save them in correct format, which required lot of fun with palette and lot of time)
Source code of the tools required to create the PAL/RAW/DAT can be found on KeeperFX repo:
https://code.google.com/p/keeperfx/s...eperfx%2Ftools
After downloading the repo, you can add gfx folder to it and build all the land views included in KeeperFX. The package with gfx folder is available here:

The win32 execs for the converters can be downloaded with this package: png2landview.7z.
