    Spoiler

I don't know for the link, but I think it's because the multiplayer levels are contained within the same file.

Ehi dl, why did you edit my post? Even I barely understand what there's in my previous message now... Anyway, what I was trying to say is: since we have .lof files, why in campaign.cfg there are the multiplayer sections?

I guess you could say they're there only for historic reasons.
The .LOF files are now as good as adding the level to campaign .CFG files.

.lof files can now even add single player levels in a campaign? They work even in campaign level folders or just in the main level folder? And from what release all of this is possible?

They can't define campaigns completely, ie. because they won't allow to define order of levels.
About your other questions - it's untested, and I can't really remember what I had in mind back then. You'll have to just check that by yourself (unless someone already did).

Oh, right, I was with the cellphone and he doesn't allow me to see the spoiler tag so you can't read nothing from that...
