    Default Spells doing damage to nearby creatures when attacking door.

    Upon recently updating to 699 I found whenever my mistress was attacking any door with lightning it was killing my beetles, flies and severely damaging other creatures. After reporting it on the issue tracker, I noticed it was ever ranged attack when done upon a door/wall at a short distance. (1 tile) Mefistotelis suggested we discussion whether it be a desired effect. I think not. //Anyone have any ideas or input into such effect?

    I love FF in games, and it's a pity that it is not put in them anymore (almost).

    I wrote a longer post but it was eaten, so only bullet points.

    I like the idea of friendly fire in general but:
    1. the damage at present is too high on friendlies (maybe 10%)
    2. the range is too great (maybe quarter of a tile)
    3. should only be for certain abilities (meteor, grenade, word of power, lightning( both of them), cave-in, hailstorm)

    Proposals:
    1.Implement friendly fire more fully, but markedly reduced damage on neaqrby friendlies.
    2. range/damage of friendly fire should be changeable in rules.cfg
    (maybe distinguish between good and keeper creatures, i.e. white creatures don't suffer friendly fire)

    3. A more general point, the damage increase/ level for abilities may be a bit to high at present as a level 10 warlock couldn't kill a lvl 1 beetle with a single meteor in the original.
    (maybe have xp growth percentages as a campaign variable)

    I did some changes.
    Now explosions have 1/3 range towards friendly targets.
    So if a friend is hit directly (ie. is attacked by friend) it will receive full damage. But collatheral damage to friendly creatures is greatly reduced by the range reduction.

    I also increased the push effect.

    Still, if a mistress (with lighting) and a bug (melee) will attack enemy door, the bug is likely to die - there is friendly damage.

    Wouldn't it be possible to disable this for attacking doors and dungeon hearts?

    This would surely get rid of the problem..

    But I'm not sure if it's a good idea to modify shot behaviour based on its target.

    I would prefer to have shot as something that goes to target and explodes - always the same way. A condition which checks what has been hit seem quite artificial in that case.

    I can't reach a clear conclusion, any other arguments/ideas?

    I would rather have the creatures flee from friendly fire.

    Not just with doors, but in actual fights as well.
