THIS ARTICLE IS UNDERGOING A MAJOR, MAJOR REVAMP ;)

Still, feel free to download, try, comment and help me improve all maps. All feedback is valued.

    1 = Tournament Maps
    2 = Special Maps
    3 = Siege Maps
    4 = Campaigns
    5 = Mapping Templates

    1. TOURNAMENT MAPS
These maps are ideal for tournaments with a major focus on interesting and fun terrain and gameplay, whilst retaining balance.

    Faults (Download)
An open, but well-defended land, Faults provides a more than adequate arena in which to settle your differences with rival Keepers.

    Game Modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 4
    Size: 69x69

    Honeycomb (Download)
Good choice, Keeper. Honeycomb is the homeland of the fireflies, and though they may take up arms against you if pushed, their feeble struggles will hinder you not and this gold rich land will be yours for the taking. What makes this realm ideal as a powerbase for the conquest of surronding lands is its abundance of portals and, if rumors are true, gem seams cherished by the firefly population.
Great minds think alike though, Keeper, and several adversaries have been spotted lurking in this realm. Teach these upstarts a leason or two.

    Game Modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 4
    Size: 69x69

    Patchwork - Classic (Download)
Do not scoff at this simplistic realm, Keeper, for though it lacks complexity it provides fast-paced, intense game-play with lots of open terrain for building while keeping enough in the way of obstacles to keep you from being overwhelmed to early-on. The outlying hero forts are poorly defended but provide a perfect counter to your attempts to scout further. Gem seams are placed in clear sight but must be fought for. Yes, Keeper, this realm is the perfect battleground for settling disputes with your peers.

    Game modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 4
    Size: 69x69

    Patchwork - Extra Large (Download)
A complex labyrinth of channels turns this into a confusing, hectic battle. Portals and gem seems are all quantities to be fought for, and the complex central interplay is fierce. But be watchful, Keeper, for there is no wall to your back and enemy keepers will be merciless, striking from any direction.

    Game modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 4
    Size: 127x127

    Tourney (Download)
Its getting personal, Keeper, but are you ready for it?

    Game modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 2
    Size: 69x69

    2. SPECIAL MAPS

Quiet as the Grave (1.21) (Download)
What in the name of all that is unholy have you done this time, Keeper? You've woken the dead! At any other time I would be happy for you, Keeper, but this is...
Do you suicidally plan these little mishaps out in advance or do you just have a talent for getting into unearthly trouble? Didn't anyone ever teach you NOT to anger the Dark Gods? Their wrath is legendary and they won't stop until at least one of you is dead, Keeper! Make sure it isn't you...

    Map Type: 1v1 Skirmish/Multiplayer (Stonewall/Hold-out style)
    Amount of Players: 2
    Size: 69x69

    Dead Walking (1.4) (Download)
Again with the walking dead thing, right? Do you never learn, Keeper? Here we go again...

    Map Type: 1v1 Skirmish/Multiplayer (Stonewall/Hold-out style)
    Amount of Players: 2
    Size: 69x69

    3. SIEGE MAPS

Fort Stillwater (Version 1.0 - Another version unlikely due to corrupted files)
An impressive castle created by the goodly architect and castle-builder of renown, Lord Feeblerant, Fort Stillwater, like so many of its relations, has proven more than just a formidable foe to the many Keepers who have attempted to take it over the years. Although this well-built keep has proven to be the downfall of most, evil will prevail tonight, Keeper.

Game Type: Siege - (Player 3 Defensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 3

    Baron's Fault (Version 1.1)
Long ago a small goodly stronghold stood near the edge of Baron's Fault, an ideal defensive position to repel any Keeper raids from the nearby realm of Firespite. Of course, this small hero-fort was only a second-line defense and staffed by a garrison of less than ten and, as such, it might well have been staffed by blind doddery old monks for all the resistance it managed put up when Keeper Charmaul came though. It seems the Keeper took somewhat of a liking to less than idyllic part of the kingdom as he reworked the small garrison into a strong power-base. Since its renovations, the fort has changed hands many times.

Game Type: Siege - (Player 1 Defensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer
    Players: 3

    4. CAMPAIGNS

    The "Prophecy of Malice" Campaign.
I intend this to be my first campaign and it is set some time (undecided) before the events of Dungeon Keeper 2, effectively a precussor. As to whether Keeper Malice or Horny will appear... probably at some stage. We shall see. I want to try to sync it with the plot and goings on of DK 2. I also intend this campaign to be somewhat more challenging, gruelling and longer in terms of levels than the original campaign.

    DARKSHRINE (Download)

In the deepest extremities of the under-realm where even Keepers fear thread there is a mighty fortress built on the very brink of the Crushing Depths. This ancient stronghold was built by a devout order of a powerful, arrogant race of prophets who call themselves the Dark Angels. They have in their possession what they call, the Prophecy of Malice. Little is certain, but all accounts tell that the prophecy speaks of a lone Keeper who will rise above the rest, seize and amass the heroes’ new Portal Gems and take the Over-world for his own. Normally nothing would be worth taking on the Dark Angels, but for the chance to fulfil this particular prophecy?

Search all three Dark Angel Libraries for the prophecy.

    DEEPFALLS (Download)

There is great uncertainty and much infighting amongst the shaken ranks of the Keepers following many rumours circulating of a prophecy. Unfortunately we were unable to recover the prophecy, but interrogation of prisoners from the fortress at Darkshrine has revealed that shortly before our assault a rogue was witnessed infiltrating the dungeon. We believe that this rogue was in the service of a Keeper Wruth, but yet more unfortunately it seems as if our pursuit will have to be delayed as we have been ambushed near the base of the Deepfalls Chasm by a small number of late entrants hoping to pick up on the trail of the prophecy. To make matters worse, the remaining Dark Angels of the Order of Sek’riah have taken up the chase and seek our demise after the attack on the subterranean sanctuary of their order. Ill fate has indeed befallen us, but the prophecy is not yet beyond our reach. Do not let it slip between your fingers.

Crush the Keepers Undkath, Tertho and Goerosa while holding off the Dark Angel's who have allied with one of the three Keepers.

    RIVENROUT (Download)

It would appear we’ve caught up with Keeper Wruth at the age-old battleground of Rivenrout and, for the while at least, thrown the enraged Dark Angels off our trail. Fate, it seems however, again moves to thwart us. Keeper Wruth has prepared himself cunningly, knowing well that he is pursued and has set out to ambush us. His forces are formidable and well-deployed. What is more he has recruited the help of a lesser Keeper called Fuin. Their combined forces are indeed formidable, but you must not falter.

Kill both Keeper Wruth and Keeper Fuin to avoid any chance of the Prophecy slipping through your fingers.

    FELROCK (Download)

Keeper Wruth may be dead, but he was enviably cunning and clever. Neither of the late Keepers had prophecy and, from what we can garner, it wasn’t even anywhere near Rivenrout. Keeper Wruth entrusted it to his younger brother, Keeper Dasque, who on the news of his brother’s death has undoubtedly gone to ground. But let us dwell on the good news because no matter how successful Keeper Wruth’s master-plan at throwing the Keepers off his tail was, he is now dead and will no longer trouble us. The second piece of good news is that Keeper Dasque is young and inexperienced and won’t last long pitted against the combined might of the rest of the Keepers. When he is located, and there is no doubt he will be, we must jump in as he desperately holds off what will undoubtedly be the underworlds finest Keepers and steal the prophecy from him before they can get their hands on it. With any luck the trail will go cold on him and we can make a clean getaway.

Either kill or convert the warlock entrusted with the prophecy or else kill Dasque to break the alliance of the three Keepers Rerguard, Colburg and Frelsmere who assailed him. These great Keepers have temporarily ally to take down Dasque. Kill all three to prevent any making off with the prophecy.

    5. Map Templates
Although it may not seem like it, templates are extremely useful and laying out a map before you start advisable. Making a map symetrically in particular is almost impossible without them. These are laid out already and take the effort out of that.

    Normal M/S Maps[/CENTER]

    Golden Fury (Version 1.0)
You’ve always been somewhat ambitious, Keeper, but what makes you think you stand a chance against the Golden Fury? Generations of Keepers have met their fate trying to breach the defenses of the Golden Fury . In case you need it any clearer, Keeper; THEY ALL FAILED!
If your corupt and tainted heart is set, Keeper, than I shall do my best to prepare you for this task. You appear to have three adversaries just as thick-willed as you are. You will have limited building space so secure as much as you can early on. You hear me, Keeper? Move quickly to build up your forces and dungeon or be crushed.
Alas, Keeper, it looks like this is goodbye for the last time.

Game Modes: Multiplayer Only (AI can't handle well)

    Amount of Players: 4

    The Darkest Corner (Version 1.1)
You seem to have gotten yourself lost, Keeper, else you would not be fighting for this forsaken realm. What surprises me most, Keeper, is that you seem to have found two idiotic Keepers as stupid as you are to fight with for possession of this realm. Good job, Keeper, you’ve surpassed yourself this time.
Perhaps a history lesson is in order?
There was once a goodly outpost here, remote though this place is, which guarded the kingdom from invasion by the Keepers and the like. The guards lived a happy, selfless life guarding their lonely posting, content in the knowledge that they were doing their bit.
Their little bastion of righteousness came under siege by two particularly cunning Keepers who worked together and caved in the heroes supply tunnel, cutting them off from aid and reinforcement. This worked to draw the starving, but still contented and happy heroes out. Unfortunately for the twin Keepers, however, they underestimated the happy, content heroes and paid a high price. The heroes, low on supplies eventually perished and died. It’s said they still guard this realm, Keeper, happy and content as ever…

    Game Modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Amount of Players: 3

    Damming the Styx
The goodly heroes seek to dam the river Styx, Keeper. By so doing they hope to send a message to Keepers everywhere. Unfortunately, Keeper, we don’t appear to be able to decode what it was. Their gesture is both meaningless and futile, none-the-less two Keepers, obviously lower in standing than your high and mighty self, have set out to blow this damn and open the flood gates.
You must crush these upstarts, Keeper. As for the heroes, don’t worry about them, Keeper, for if you don’t bother them than they won’t bother you. It is the lower Keeper’s deaths you seek.

    Game Modes: Multiplayer, Skirmish

    Amount of Players:
    3

    Cartwheel II (Version 1.0)
The first Cartwheel was in my first batch... wasn't terribly good. I never was happy with it. Maybe this will redeem it. =)

    Game Modes: Multiplayer, Skirmish

    Amount of Players:

    Siege Maps

    Castle Vladimir (Version 1.1 & Reversed 1.0)
Originally a small religious chapel in the middle of a large lake, it was taken over by a small order of vampires and fortified into what is now "Castle Vladimir." This dark stronghold is guarded by a small garrison of fiendish skeletons sustained by the vampires ancient magic.

    Game Type: Siege - (Player 1 Defensive[Offensive on R1.0]) - Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Players: 2

    Sentinel's Watch (Version 1.0 & 1.1[AI])
An ancient garrison of the goodly heroes, Sentinel's Watch is located on the fringe of fallen lands near the Karloc Gateway. It is the last remaining pocket of goodness in a realm long held by darkness.

Game Type: Siege - (Player 1 Offensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Amount of Players:
    2

    Gargoyles' Mount (Version 1.1)
An old stronghold of evil located in a strategic position near the Vileweed springs, a powerful Keeper has recently taken up residence in Gargoyles' Mount and fortified it further.

Game Mode: Siege - (Player 1 Defensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Amount of Players: 2

    Luguard's Last Refuge (Version 1.0)
Luguard's Last Refuge is a veritable rock near the town of Breakwater and is currently under siege by two allied Keepers.

    Game Type: Siege - (Player 1 & 3 Offensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Players: 3

    Ul's Sacred Temple (Version 1.0)
Ul's Sacred Temple is a heavily fortified temple devoted to the Dark God known as Ulgorde or Ul, the Dark God of Undead. The defense of Ul's temple-fortress reflects his position in the Dark Pantheon, it is garrisoned and defended by a large contingent of undead creatures provided by the Gate-Keeper. The Gate-Keeper is a worthy Keeper devoted to Ul and fond of the undead and is prized as a position due to the power obtained being by being a Dark God's favorite. It is the Gate-Keeper's role to ensure the defense of the temple from troublesome heroes.
    Game Type: Siege - (Player 1 & 3 Offensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Players: 3

    Fort Steadfast (Version 1.1)
After the Heroic rout following the Battle of Fallwater the remainder of the goodly forces withdrew following the line of the Luxsates River. Lord Elmsalt and Lord Froll hauled up in the old Fort Steadfast with the remains of their armies charged with the responsibility of covering the other retreat.
Arrayed against three Keepers history says they fell... but was history lying?

Game Type: Siege - (Player 1 Defensive) - Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Amount of Players: 4

    Roland's Maps

    Roland’s Defence
A goodly lord renown for his easy victory of the sad, pathetic Keeper Skult some years ago, Roland's head would be a nice addition to your collection, Keeper. Sadly, however, Roland doesn't lead the defense of the mighty stronghold he inherited from his father.
It seems we caught him unprepared, Keeper. He was recently summoned to the King's court to tell of his less-than-magnificent triumph over Keeper Skult and the successful defense of his land. He seems to be giving pointers to lesser lords.
What better a way to ruin his audience with the king than to overrun his castle and ransack his estate?
But tread carefully, Keeper, for three other foes lurk in the darkness to steal your hard earned prize. Did you think it would be that easy?

    Game Modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Amount of Players: 4

    Roland's Challenge
It appears that the goodly Lord Roland lost quite a lot of face after your last victory, Keeper. An impressive effort I must say, but don’t savor your victory to long, Keeper.
It seems that Roland wants you dead and in this endeavor he might not prove as inept as usual. While at the King’s court he bumped into fellow dispossessed lord by the name of Relicius. Does the name sound familiar, Keeper? Does it make your wicked heart not beat just a little bit quicker? That is right, Keeper, your memory serves you correctly. You slew his older brother personally and snatched away their lands from under their snotty noses.
Young though he is, the landless Lord Relicius is a military genius and has a large private army who hire themselves out to Lords as a defense against Keepers. Don’t underestimate him, Keeper, he has defeated many of your kind. Word has it he even vanquished the infamous Mulred in the realm of Darksound. All the same, a victory here today would bring much, and I’m sure Lord Relicius’s severed head would look good on the wall with the rest of your collection.
But don’t think beating him will earn you a rest either, Keeper! A new Keeper has arisen to challenge you for your newly claimed land. All in a days work, Keeper.

    Game Modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Amount of Players:
    2

    Roland's Last
Very nice, Keeper, your taste in internal decorating surpasses even your military skill. Lord Relicius’s severed head looks perfect in the spot you reserved for it next to that of his brother. You chose wrong the profession, Keeper. Enough about your decor though, Keeper, you still have Lord Roland’s head to collect.
Lord Roland knows your after him. He fled back to the King’s Court in a desperate attempt to escape your wrath. The monarch was not thrilled to see him and even less pleased to learn of the Lord Relicius’s bloody demise. As a result, Keeper, Lord Roland and his remaining followers have been exiled to the Eichsberd Islands. The Eichsberds were once an outpost of the Kingdom but were overrun by Keeper Kleptes many centuries past.
Two Keepers dwell there at the moment, Keeper, and they will not take kindly to your interference.
Lord Roland himself is paranoid and fears every shadow. He has dug himself in well and surrounded himself with traps. Hurry up, Keeper! Roland won’t decapitate himself. Well, he might, but he’d be an absolute idiot so you shouldn't put it past him.

    Game Modes: Multiplayer, Skirmish

    Players: 3

    Undercurrents (Version 1.0)

    Game Modes: Skirmish, Multiplayer

    Players: 4

    Carnage Co-operative (Version 1.01)
What happened to the whole undead invasion theme, Keeper? Have you finally moved onto better things or are you about to spring another on me? Not undead you say? Is there are catch? Who have you picked a fight with this time, Keeper? The Horned Reapers?
Heroes you say? Finally, you've seen the light and have engaged in more sensible pastimes! There is hope for you yet, Keeper. Go forth and slaughter...

    Played patchwork.

Its a great tournament map. Here are some tips on improvement:

Make it a little bit smaller. Just about 10 squares from each side.

    Add gold to inner perimeter.

More gold in the home base, you say? easily done

and made smaller? The DK2 has always been rather temperamental for me but the one I'm working with atm is the cake-winner. The editor won't let me create "new" maps so I'm using the same-sized "base" map and copying over and over again changing file names and starting again. I used to do this out of convenience, but now I don't have choice. I used to have different sized base-maps right up to 120-something squared and down as well but I lost them. I suppose I could just add several layers of Impenetrable rock... I dunno. See what I can do

I'll upload a refined map later...

Just played it and all i can say is don't underestimate the goodly skeletal guardians because they pwn

Haven't checked how AI do but I'll see later...

Game-play seems alright, aside from finding your portal at the start. Plenty of gold ect. Overall, you should have a funky little dungeon running pretty quickly

suggestion, always test your maps without fog of war. you'll see all the map and you can observe how ai develops.

Very useful. Many good maps fail just because they had insufficient testing.
