No, it shouldn't be too powerful

It already begins at level 2. I suppose it could have some markings like the Lord of the Land does telling to kill him.

Remember that these specials don't exactly grow on trees and that creature will follow you until they die which makes them quite prized.

True and in fact that is a great idea so he should have a more tough look BUT it shouldn't be overpowerful but more like a semi-boss instead of a ultimate lord of land

I think the very fact you need to limit to some creatures shows it is unbalanced. You've taken examples mainly from DK2 and only one from DK1, for obvious reasons , but DK1 creatures are actually far more powerful than their DK2 counterparts and more easy to get your hands and not to mention more numerous.

Would the bonded creature still count towards your creature limit? I'm wondering if it'll be worth carrying over if you're the kind who likes an elitist army of the best creatures.

    Oh, and no Avatars.

No, the Bonded Creature will not count against the Creature Limit, which is one of the reasons why this Special doesn't work on some Creatures.

Heroes don't count! The special is called ''Bond Creature'' for a reason!

Actually, making it Creatures only would be nice and a good drawback, making sure it doesn't get too impressive.

And even the Transfer Creature counted against the max.
