Default Lords of Nether - Artistic Direction

Hey Guys it's me again, this time with some concept art for Lords of Nether!

These are just some of the characters that you will find in the game including 2 of the Netherlords.
There are many more characters in the game, but we're omitting those for now to be revealed at a later date.

We're aiming for a more realistic artistic style with Lords of Nether, as opposed to the cartoony style that many other games have adopted.
Our main influences come from games like Diablo 1 & 2, and DK1.

We hope you like what you see, and we'll bring you some in-game screenshots soon.
    Any comments and questions welcome!

I love the art-direction. A more serious style fits DK-games I believe. Your own creatures have a unique look to them, with some personality.

Thanks man! Yeah I feel the same way, the setting of this game demands a more gritty, dark and realistic style. In addition I was never a huge fan of cartoonish graphics in most things, it's become more of a crutch than a unique and interesting thing.

I'm glad to hear you like them! Personality is exactly what we're going for, we're aiming to bring their unique character further with our animations as well!

I really dig the dark, gothic look you are going for. Mordred and Grindylow are really cool

We want to see gameplay. The late game creatures can surprise us when we get to them in game.

Patience mate, we're just having a discussion about the art The gameplay is being worked on and things will be posted about it in a separate thread. We want to wait untill the workers are a bit more ironed out and you can construct rooms and objects, which should hopefully be happening within the next couple of weeks.

    I'm mister patience.
In art discussions we could get pictures of your new rooms, with descriptions how we'll use them.

In regards to rooms i tend to make those in 3D outright, so not much in the way of concept art there. But as for their use, well you can expect most of them to be pretty familiar -Library, treasury, workshop, the works. The way they differ is that their functionality is expanded due to the fact that you can build objects in them yourself and those objects have different uses.

Yeah, the basic 5 rooms are not really interesting,.... You've confirmed a workshop, and I also expect to see a prison and torture room with pretty similar functionality like the DK-games.
But I'm sure you've got some unique rooms as well, and who knows if and how rooms like graveyard, scavengers, tavern/casino, combat pit, temple and barracks will be used.
