Default Can't get editor to load levels

Nothing I've been able to do can get the official editor to load levels - I just get a blank window and if I click the down arrow it crashes. This is on our spare laptop (Windows XP Pro), my home computer (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit) and the Windows 98SE VirtualBox I set up.

Has anyone else encountered this (and hopefully found a solution)?

    What have you actually tried?

Have you seen this topic: https://keeperklan.com/threads/7258-...-documentation
Which of the tutorials from that topic have you followed? Have you followed every step exactly?

Yes to all of the above. Nothing works. Tried it on each system (primary computer with KeeperFX installed - followed those instructions to the letter; spare laptop with Windows XP Pro - followed the editor install instructions that came with the editor package (dkedit.zip); VirtualBox with Windows 98SE (ditto).)

To quote a long forgotten movie character: "it is for to make me SCREAM!"

Well it is weird, because you get an error nobody gets and get it across installations and machines. That leads me to believe it's not a freak accident but something you consistently do different. And for me to help you, I need to figure out what.
Could you post a screenshot of the folder (with files and subfolders visible) where you installed the editor, and a screenshot of the inside of the levels folder?

And just to confirm, the editor itself runs fine for you, it's just that when you load a level it's giving issues? If you make a new map and save it, what happens then?

    ... Well, now I feel foolish ...

I was double checking myself, and discovered, to my great chagrin:
    * I didn't have the right folder in the .cfg file, and
    * I had copied the folders from a flat, not from the CD.

    BOY, I feel dumb!

    Sorry for wasting your time.
