    I did. I have a seperate folder called "Editor", with 'data' 'levels' 'save' and 'sound' folders (which I created), also copied the 'LDATA' folder, Editor.exe (from this site), 'keeperfx.cfg' 'Mss32.dll' 'SMACKW32.dll' 'WSnd7R.dll in the main folder, then, in 'DATA', I left all the files in there and added "GUIEDIT.DAT" "GUIEDIT.TAB" and extracted the 'edittext.rar' (from this site) into the 'DATA' folder, I didn't delete any files from step 7 or step 9, I extracted the empty levels file in "levels" (I have DDISK1.LIF, DDISKMP.LOF, DKLEVELS.LOF and an empty 'LEVELS.txt' in the 'levels' folder) and I right-clicked Editor.exe and I have the following checked "Run this program in compatiblity mode for 'windows 98/ME'", with settings 'run in 256 colors' 'run in 640x480 screen resolution ' "disable visual themes' 'disable desktop composition' and 'disable display scaling on high DPI settings', and I do NOT have 'run as administrator' checked (I have tried both administrator and non-administrator settings) (all this I am doing in the Editor folder, not Keeper FX folder)

    And those data and levels folder are copied from your original DK cd?

    I just tried that, still the same, I did notice there is a keeper.cfg now in the Editor folder (it actauuly says 'configuration' for the file type, before when I made it, it said 'txt file')
    the file has

    I also tried leaving the default path and also adding the actual path....niether work

    This is the keeperfx.cfg file, you somehow got into your editor folder. Note the FX from keeperfx, plus all the FX specific settings totally unrelated to the editor.

    is there anyway you can upload it on here? I dont have it then....it is not in my Dungeon Keeper gold CD

    I checked the Keeper.cfg properies, under details and it says its a txt file (keeper.cfg.txt)

    how do I get it so it is a .cfg file (creating a .txt file and renaming it "keeper.cfg" obviously didn't work)

    I see. Renaming would have worked, but you have an issue with your pc. You have it configured to hide file extensions. Make sure you see them, if you have windows 10, do this:

    • Open File Explorer; if you do not have an icon for this in the task bar; click Start, click Windows System, and then File Explorer.
    • Click Start, Windows System, File Explorer
    • Click the View tab in File Explorer
    • Click View and click Options
    • Click the box next to File name extensions to see file extensions
    • Click the box next to Hidden items to see hidden files


    Now you can properly name keeper.cfg by simply removing the .txt

    sucess! almost lol....the color is all messed up, and the speed is crazy fast, I downloaded 'dxwnd', that eddybaby sugested but i don't see an option to slow it down, the screenshot you showed me also has alot more tabs, so i'm guessing there is an 'advance' and a 'simple' mode,
    I see 'main' 'video' 'mouse' 'directX' 'directx(2)' 'direct3d' 'libs' and 'notes'

    Color is a compatibility mode I think. Try messing with that. Crazy fast is just how it is.

    DxWnd can indeed slow it down, in Timing tab. In options there's the 'expert mode'.

    any idea what setting I need to use in the timing tab? I have an Intel 3770k.....I still have no idea on how to get it to run through DxWnd
    I have been going through the compatibility options one by one, and one of the settings fucks my display up (don't know which one yet), the screen goes dark and then I hear a noise (like when you uninstall a driver) (when I try to run it through Editor.exe), and I have to restart my whole computer to get the display back
