    Default New Creatures/ Suggestions for the future

    Hi!

    I've already created some new creatures that I want to introduce here.
    Most are either seen as "Elements Monsters" or are based on the fantasy that a "floating spirit" has taken over these objects. A bit of imagination is part of it.
    Most of these are also only good as enemies, best as player_good. Only with a few I plan that they can be attracted by the entrance. For example: Giant Worm, Demon Insect, Torturer.

    What is the full process to make a new custom creature? I would like to give it a try.

    Few suggestion I have :

    Black Knight from DK2, attracted by Training Room and Barracks
    Dark Angel from DK2, attracted by Temple and maybe Scavenger too?
    Centaur, hero, not attracted by default
    Cyclop or Oger or both ;o
    Gargoyle (flying), attracted by Temple
    Minotaur, hero, not attracted by default
    Werewolf, hero, not attracted by default
    Zombie, undead, either attracted by Graveyard or swap with Vampire method to be created from corpse?

    The main part is making the sprites, so the images for all the animations of the unit, in both perspectives. There is some information here: https://github.com/dkfans/keeperfx/w...Custom-sprites
    Somebody has also made a tool for it, where you can make such sprites from a 3d model: https://rainlizard.itch.io/creaturemaker

    In any case, it's not the ideas for creatures that are hard, but creating the art for them.

    Ok nice. And regarding the programing part?

    Do you know if there is a tool to extract DK2 creatures models?

    There's really nothing to program for a new creature. You edit the name to fxdata/creature.cfg, and place a file in the /creatrs/ folder and it will work. I believe the OpenKeeper guys have extracted the Dk2 models, but not sure.

    I would suggest having at least current original creatures having some evolutional aspects after reaching Level 10 and beyond... But then again, it kinda breaks the current system of what kind of Creatures we currently have...

    ...but...looking how people speedruns the game and campaigns, it is safe to say it is already broken. Only Few creatures are good to go in overall and rest of the pack are poop/irrelevant/threshold...

    ...of course, unless it is strategical campaign, where you need to puzzle out with certain Creatures... or Creature limit pool.


    Perhaps some kind of creatures which can dig... or requires plenty of Lair size.

    well creatures can evolve now. Demon spawn turns to Dragon, Thief to a Knight. This is all done through configs. And so now we can add new creatures, you could add an 'elite' version of a creature and have it evolve to a new or modified one?

    Totally possible yes. Past level 10 a bile demon grows legs. A ghost would get chains to rattle. A troll would become purple.

    By my creatures:

    Spawn Ball > Lv. 10 = Demonspawn Lv. 5

    Giantworm Brood > Lv. 10 = Giantworm Lv. 5


    I have published my creatures. But it's largely about quantity, not class.
    For example a Lava map with 3 different fire monsters.
