change created creature level?

I've just gotten back into this game after about a year or so. I remember when you used the cheat menu to create a creature, you can use 'shift' to change creatures, and numbpad 1 thru 5 to cycle ownership.....but I know there was a way to change their level too....the top row on my keyboard doesnt work anymore, so with my luck it's one of those [1 thru 0, minus and plus buttons]

Top row on your keyboard should still work. Perhaps you accidentally bought a French keyboard or something?
