    Default Shop

A cool thing I was thinking, is a shop. A shop where the creatures could go spend their money, they earn on payday or perhaps "win". So the longer you have a creature in the dungeon, and if it hasn't spend its money, it can buy something big, like Trolls can buy bigger hammers, and bile demons getting more fancy stuff attached to their horns.

I was also thinking it could be cool if they could buy upgrades to their lair, so they will recover faster, or tools so they work faster in the workshop.

These things should be independent for each creature, so the player should not have any influence on the shopping. Also in order to add a bit of surprise and dissapointment, when you find out your biledemon just spend money on a fancy skirt or whatever.

I really like things in games where the player doesn't always have an influence. In my oppinion it will give the creatures and the game more character.

Does the money spent in the shop go to the keeper and if not then who gets them?
    I like the idea B.T.W.

Would this room increase creature happiness?

I'm really not very sure about this room, seems a bit Sim Tower...

I love SimTower... but back on point...

A whole room devoted is a bit much... and why build it? it would be better just to have a niche in the portal where they can collect things.

Some stuff reminded me of the Casino, but yeah SimTower I have never heard of it but this is not the Sims damn it.

    This is Dungeon Keeper!

I don't really think it fits the Dungeon Keeper style or universe. Sounds too happy.

Anyway, I've played sim tower. Dull game..

But ANYWAY, the money goes to the shop keepers = no where. It's pretty much the price of the stuff they buy.

To increase the happiness of the creatures is a really good idea.
And to be honest, I don't think it is sim-like. In fact the opposite. If you could decide what they should buy it probably would be sim like. Here, we don't give a damn if a troll buy's a hammer or a funny looking hat. It is intentionally left for the surprise. DK1 had so many elements in the game, which didn't really had any specific point besides being funny. And I think perhaps adding this into the game, could be really funny and intertaining, so you don't have to watch your creatures train, eat or sleep all day. (still its a very funny game)

Anyway, I hate the sims, lets never speak of that again!

If the gold the creatures spend is basically wasted, it's just a waste of money buying the room with no benefits.

    Fun? Maybe. Practical? Not really.

The devs have better things to spend their time with.

And as MGR said, it sounds too happy for DK.

Well DK1's jokes didn't really effect gameplay, just a little funny thing in the text or mentor voice or something, besides the funny idea of rolling a boulder to squish little impies.

I don't think we should devote a whole room to something like this, there is already the Casino and we don't want clone creatures. Nor should we do it as a joke. I mean I'm sure they thought it would be funny in DK2 to kill the Dragon and replace him with an exact clone of the Knight, haha no it was annoying.

Anyways, it sounds like this is like the Casino and also a little too happy as well. Already the Casino can barely make it when looking on DK2, it had a purpose but they served some funny stuff too like drunk creatures (I'm still trying to get a Dark Mistress drunk XD) but this room seems to serve the same purpose. I vote against this idea.

How much useful stuff should they be able to buy for? My concern is that a creature that wins the jackpot in a casino can proceed to the nearest shop and buy everything without really putting a dent in his pockets.
