Copy protection has been ripped out, you can run this game straight from the CD, or install to your computer.
Naturally, you won't be able to save your game if you run it from CD, but that's not a problem, is it?
As well, there's the usual issues, when it comes to trying to load this game on Win2K/XP, or whatever other problems the game itself may have, internally.
A bit of a hackjob, but at least it keeps the game playable and easily accessable to even those who don't know what a rar is.
Autorun created with AutoRun Pro Enterprise
Setup created with Install Creator Pro
Version Update:
1.2:
Added DirectX 8.1 to the CD and an option to install it from the main page. This will be required on.. well, any system that doesn't already have it, or better, to run the game. Works really nice in Win98.
Remember, DirectX 9 only works on Win2K and WinXP or higher, so 8.1 is about the limit for Win98.
1.1:
Oops.. Forgot the movies from the CD. Updated, fixed and done up. Should work now, all the way around.
1.0:
In the beginning, there was nothing.. So, I decided to fix it up and try to make it all shiny!
Ripped out the DirectX installation, since even people on really old machines should have it by now.
Game runs from CD just fine, except for lack of save support. The install is literally just the stuff from the CD copied over, plus some shortcuts.
Patched to 1.7, with the 3 bonus packs and the editor.
All happy? I hope so..
For the future, something I'd like to do is integrate a complete eraser into the autorun, to delete the campaign/MPD/whatever else, from the registry, for a clean recovery.
I also want to change the autorun some, to give it better looking buttons. This was just a quick and dirty first try.
But, we'll see if I stay interested until then.
